Full time vs Part time in four sectors Comparing different arts practices based on the number of employees, it's interesting to note that the performing arts sector employs far more part time workers relative to full time workers than film, dance and visual arts. There was a steady growth of full time employees in the performing arts sector from 2018-20, while the other sectors remained stable. As for part time employees, the number rose slightly from 2018-19 for the performing arts and dropped significantly from 2019-21. The other arts practice remained mostly constant with slight drops. February 2024 has officially earned its name as the month of my artistic breakthrough. Not only am I nearing the end of my Art Education Masters Degree program, but my Black History Year Calendar business is still going strong for its third installment. I am beyond blessed to have been afforded the many opportunities and milestones achieved thus far. Today I take the time to reflect and share them with you all. 1: The recording of my very first single “Keep Going,” an inspirational and educational song about persistence. 1/27/24 2: The exhibition of my artwork collection at the Art Ovation artist in residence gallery. 1/30/24-2/4/24 3: My first ABC News feature with Renee Gilmore on Empowering Voices discussing my many talents. 2/3/24 4: A community event I organized for my job as their newly appointed Black History Month chairman. 2/22/24 5: My Black History Year Calendars made the morning news along with a new black history song created in collaboration with Juneteenth Music Entertainment. 2/28/24 6: Students perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to kick off the first ever Black History Showcase written, directed and produced by me. 2/29/24 7: Students of various grades performing Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” for the Black History Showcase. 8: Black History Showcase, singing “Glory” on stage with 3rd graders. 9: I taught a 5th grade student how to write educational RAP lyrics and we created a song for Ruby Bridges together. 10: Ruby Bridges RAP song continued footage from Black History Showcase. ———————————— Yes, as you can see I’ve been very busy but I am happy to report that all the late nights of hard work and artistry are finally paying off. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and head of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), led a meeting at the academy building in Sharjah’s University City.
