As one of the technical partners of the AbuDhabi Autonomous Racing League, we supplied our Corner Brake Actuators, Pynion-type Steering Actuator and Body System Unit to all the racecars, which allowed their operation. During the #A2RL race, we were allocated a special area within the exclusive F1 paddock lounge, where we exposed a test bench garnering considerable intrest from attendees keen to learn more about its operational mechanisms. The idea behind it was to showcase all the #Meccanica42 actuators and to demonstrate how they behaved and functioned within the cars once on the track. All #actuators were connected to a PC running a simulation of a lap around the #track, with all target signals being sent to the actuators that directly operated on the car's components, such as the #SteeringRack and #BrakeCalipers. This past weekend the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, showcasing autonomous AI-powered cars, took place at Yas Marina Circuit. Bringing a science experiment to the racetrack, the inaugural race pushed the boundaries of autonomous technology while adding entertainment value to fans. A2RL drew over 10,000 spectators at the circuit and captured the attention of over 600,000 online viewers in just 12 hours. My first shoot directly involving AI and fully immersive technology (Virtual Reality). A2RL, the first autonomous car racing in the world, had drivers replaced by AI. Led by eight teams of coders (computer scientists) from Europe, America, Middle East and Asia this event is driving STEM experts to make a difference in the world. The VR camera, fitted on each car, is the brainchild of @focalpointvr and a highlight at the event. It transported viewers from around the world live to the driver’s seat giving not only a 220 degree view of the race but also all the car data a racing driver wishes to have (speed, gear change, break pressure etc). Through a live streaming impeccably transmitted by @hayfisher_tv the event reached hundreds of thousands of viewers around the world. The event organisers, @aspire.uae created a Fan Zone where attendees could experience the full VR experience from a virtual pit lane console room. Also, in the VIP Suites, VR headsets were made available to guests.
