La question qui se pose est de savoir si la démocratie n'est pas en train de se décomposer de plus en plus. Qu'est-ce que cela signifierait pour la société et l'individu ? La démocratie semble être la seule forme de gouvernement praticable pour nous, dans les pays occidentaux. Cependant, la majorité des gens vivent aujourd'hui dans des autocraties, par exemple. Les sociétés et les individus sont confrontés à la question de savoir jusqu'où ils sont prêts à accepter la liberté comme la liberté de ceux qui pensent différemment, pour citer Rosa Luxemburg, qui l'a si bien formulée il y a 100 ans. Que faudrait-il donc changer pour que le fameux fossé social ne se creuse pas autant et que la majorité de l'humanité puisse vivre ensemble de manière plus pacifique et civilisée ? Quel rôle les créateurs peuvent-ils et doivent-ils jouer en tant que portraitistes, chroniqueurs et critiques de notre époque ou en tant que visionnaires d'un avenir possible dans le cadre de processus de changement ?
