I realised while going through pictures that I never actually shared any of these pictures from when I was building the bottom end. Forged 2.0Tfsi crank, JE 82.5mm 9.25:1 CR pistons, Pro-Race Engineering forged rods (rifles drilled, 20mm), uprated oem oil pump, arp hardware throughout (head bolts, end caps, rod bolts). Running a standalone Ignitron ECU. Head work I'm yet to do, currently we just have inconel exhaust valves.

Unsure what to do with this thing ATM. Summers gone, shows are finished. Struggling to enjoy it, constantly worried something's going to break, a list of maintenance jobs/updates/adaptions to do but little time, care or energy to actually do them (and the evenings are now dark). Tempted to just put it away for a while but also I will miss it. And if I do put it away, there's even less chance I'll do the jobs as it won't be at home. So I'm torn. So, a post to cheer me up and maybe I'll find some motivation somewhere. I really need to find some winter wheels aswell.

Owned this stress inducing, marriage straining, bank account emptying, pretty POS 4 years today so here is how it was on the 7th of August every year of ownership. The last year has not been good for us but we're on the mend (although I didn't take this picture today because it's at home broken without a shifter rn 😂)

Well, I had the car tuned at the weekend. It hasn't made as much as I was hoping for but this is only round 1. A few little things to fix then we can head back for round 2. We had to run lower boost than we had hoped for as we kept blowing the spark out (25psi) So this is it for the minute 🥲. However, the car does drive better than it ever has and even at this power level it doesn't hang about. Less power than before I would guess as I ran higher boost with increased revs before it blew but it feels quicker and way smoother. So, to do list. 1.Need better spark plugs with a tighter gap. (just picked up some NGK BKR7EIX) 2. Increase intercooler efficiency. It currently does very little (no surprise) as it's mostly behind the bumper so meth is doing all the cooling atm. So need to work out some kind of ducting as I won't ruin the aesthetics by cutting holes in the bumper, it's got to look OEM. 3. Charge pipe from turbo to front mount is 2" needs to be 2.5" (which I already have here, I just never fitted it as didn't think it necessary) 4. See if we can wire a signal from the WMI kit into the Ignitron ECU because it's currently reading the meth as fuel and reducing fuelling from injectors. 5. A better turbo than the Mamba Gtx28-71r I currently have, I always knew this was going to be the weak point, especially with an internal wastegate. So this will get replaced with an externally gated G25-660 (was going to go g30 but have been talked out of it). Add some springs and cams to get the best out of it and we should be getting closer to the end goal of 500bhp (400awhp) with a stack of torque to match. Also, don't go to Badger5 with stancey cars because he will get mad at you 🥲
Bonnet up but it's not broken 😂 still got plenty to sort in the bay, just general tidying, nicer hardware etc but the hardwork is done

#PhotoDump I've finally bothered to take the old block apart and that is how you melt a piston! All of the holes in the bay are now welded up, I've got a couple of plates to make to go over the chassis rails to hide the piping going to the front, then grind it back, filll, smooth and paint The rods have survived perfectly and unscathed so if anyone is after some taper edge 19mm wrist pin rods (Pro-Race Engineering) let me know as I will be selling these.
I've not made much progress this end as I only get a couple of hours spare a week to do car stuff and I've been focusing on the boot install. • Everything is now plumbed in and squeezed into place (one brake line to the servo left to do) Only thing left to get into the scuttle is the knock sensors, crank sensor and lambda plugs but this will take some thought later on as I've run out of places to feed plugs/wires through, will figure something. • Everything that sticks out has been cut off and most of that has been ground down to nothing, just the folded openings where the abs and fuel lines came through to grind off now • I ran a new fuel line from the tank with flexible hose to match the flexible return. They are being ran underneath the track rod, along the steering rack and then up into the fuel rail ° Next job is to start cutting plate and weld all the holes up. Then filler and paint before we start building the engine
Finally got my hands on a @maxtondesign splitter from @blackforestindustries absolutely love it. Have to put in more screws and adjust the fitment slightly. Don’t mind the crooked euro plate.
