Photo and words by Kyle @_fokis_ - Talking with @dr00bs the other day about this obstacle reminded me of this photo I shot damn near 15 years ago of Dylan perfectly executing a canjam on this wonky elaboration of a plus size jersey barrier that got backed into by the cement truck to create this tranny bank. “Trank” if you will *coining this term*. Gotta respect the bizarre obstacles at skateparks that often pop out of park builders brains. I can only assume these last minute “epiphanies” blossom with the perfect mixture of blazin’ sunbeams, some jitterjuice (the carbonated kind) and a steady diet of gas station hotdogs. Maybe they sprinkle in some skittles and sour patch kids into the mix for extra jibbyness. We may never know but sometimes we’re blessed with quirkiness like this “trank” which I always thought was/is under utilized. Dylan had numerous footjam combos dialed on this thing, each one dipped and usually on the verge of “sac-o-potatoes” potential, a Dylan signature. - Diving into the photo stats even more made me realize that this may be (probably is) my first BMX digital photo ever as I bought may Nikon D200 DSLR kit a week or two prior. Being able to review photos in real time then tweak composition, lighting, exposure etc. was, of course, a game changer from shooting BMX on film as I’d been doing for 9-10 years prior. Knowing for sure that you had the shot was a plus for both me and the rider. No more “backup” shots just to be safe, instant confirmation.
