This is a #moxiegal @rachaelstgermain with @get_repost ・・・ Fear disempowers us and blinds us to truth. It persuades us to focus on our problems, plays up our weaknesses, and encourages us to anticipate “worst case” scenarios. It tries to convince us that our only option is to avoid the thing that scares us, run from potential failures, and play small to avoid making waves. The other week, I went toe-to-toe with Fear. It tried its best to tell me I shouldn’t continue to follow my dreams. It took jabs at my self-confidence, telling me I was a nobody and success was reserved for the somebodies. As I began to find myself buying into Fear’s lies, I was convicted by the Spirit to turn to God. As I named our my fears, doubts, and insecurities in God’s presence, Fears hold on my heart was lessened. God helped me back to peace by confronting Fear’s lies and replacing such tales with truths. Truths such as: 👉My dreams are not stupid and the desires of my heart were placed there by Him for a reason. I can trust Him to use me as He sees fit. 👉It’s not all up to me. God will finish what He started in me and God will accomplish whatever He wishes to accomplish through me. The pressure’s off. 👉God is in control. He knows what’s ahead and will provide everything I need to get me where He wants me to go. He will part whatever seas need to be parted and open doors that need to be opened: I just need to remain willing to take that step of faith to step into the waters as He guides me forth. 👉 I do not need to fear failure. Failures are merely opportunities to grow me and change me. They also allow me to see when it’s time to pivot. 👉 I need to redefine success. Success in God’s economy often looks different than worldly success. I need only be concerned with God’s measure of success, which looks a whole lot more like abiding in Him over striving. ❤️Friend, Fear is full of lies. The next time you find yourself anxious, overwhelmed, afraid, or [fill in the blank], I encourage you to lean into God’s presence.
