Peter got a glimpse of what help is like in the beginning Miles Morales’ standalone game, but that was short lived as he quickly went overseas leaving Miles to defend the city on his own. Now in Spider-Man 2, whether it’s the immense heart of Miles or the brotherly company of Harry, Peter consistently has someone to fight alongside him and the power on display when they join forces is SPECTACULAR. That’s the purpose of this cinematic experience, not to just show the power of Peter with another hero, but also to show the power and scale of the enemies Insomniac placed in front of Peter and Co. along the way to give them an adequate challenge. Nothing feels better than launching an enemy away with two flying kicks after dodging underneath them, only to bring them back to you with the web grabber gadget straight in to a concussion blast that sends them back the opposite way, to then web zip to them and hit them with a combo followed by a finisher. From wall finishers, ground finishers, and expanded weaponry, to more capable engines, tires, armor and harpoons (explosive, electric) for your vehicle all lead to allowing the player to become super creative in combat, to inflict maximum carnage. In this second part, Max has seen many corners of his world but makes his way to the Infamous Gastown in search of a way in to a highly renowned race that would help get him a godly V8 engine for his car the Magnum Opus. Ofcourse nothing comes easy in the world of Mad Max and in order to get a spot in the race Max is tasked with going in to a hellhole called the “UNDERDUNE”and retrieving something of value for the man in charge of letting Max race in the first place. This intense, gritty edit is based on the insanely well made Mad Max game that released back in 2015. Here we will follow Max in the early stages of the game as he gets familiar with his surroundings and his new vehicle… the Magnum Opus - A new car built from the ground up to serve Max’s needs and inspired by the one and only trusty companion (besides the dog Didi) Chumbucket. After being ambushed and having his black on black car scrapped for parts, Max must give in to his situation and make the most of it if he is to get out alive and make it to Gastown. The aggression that has lied dormant within Max has to be let loose… and there are plenty of enemies to point the Rage towards in this game. Featuring all new camera techniques used throughout the edit, you will see a zooming and panning effect that will follow Max throughout his combat for a unique up close and personal feel to the combat sequences. Uppercuts, dropkicks, clotheslines and finishers all have been made the center of attention with these new techniques. A new generation of Guardians came to the spotlight with Eidos Montreal’s rendition of Guardians of the Galaxy that released in 2021. But following the tumultuous release of Marvel’s Avengers and the controversy that surrounded it, it set the table for Guardians of the Galaxy to struggle upon release in the sales department. But the game itself delivered on many levels, that was echoed by those who took the time to give the game a chance. While by no means a perfect game, it nailed the feeling of being the Guardians and leading them in to and through battle like few games I’ve played before. From the unique “Huddle” mechanic to the ever changing commands of your fellow guardians, the heat of battle in this game is hectic, chaotic and full of impact and tons of variety. That’s not to mention the insanely hilarious banter between, Starlord, Gamora, Rocket and Drax that seamlessly occurs in the heat of battle and adds a liveliness to the gameplay that is fitting of a Guardians of the Galaxy game. A weaving and intense edit that takes you through the ups and downs of Ellie and Joel’s lives after the first game. It was made to revolve around one of Ellie’s most gruesome moments from the second game. The chase of Nora had many more implications than just a chase to get information. What Ellie did to Nora, was in theory what should’ve happened to Abby. It was a moment from the game that truly broke Ellie mentally in her pursuit for vengeance. And it is one of the main reasons Ellie can’t go through with killing Abby when the time comes. She had already inflicted so much pain and suffering up until that point that all her rage was drained and used up and the only thing left to do was grieve. Grieve the loss of a man who meant more to her than anyone else had ever meant, for trying to be her hero. The reality was that Joel was no hero. He murdered countless people in cold blood. People with husbands, wives, and children. All in a selfish (albeit protective) effort to live the life he wanted through Ellie, at her expense. So in turn, it’s only right that with this pain, Ellie gets thrown in to the dark path of violence and vengeance that leaves her nowhere and with no one but herself and her pain. In Miles’ case, watching a dear friend (Phin Mason) lose themselves to rage and vengeance, after losing her brother in an honorable effort to save New York. Miles and Phin have had similar trajectories and traumas that have led to where they were in the events of the Miles Morales game on PS5, but Miles had Peter. Having a mentor like Peter to steer him through the anger of his dad’s death is what kept Miles on the right side of crime. Phin was not so fortunate. With her motives being heartfelt and rooted in love, and the history between Miles and Phin being as potent as it was, Miles saw himself stuck between enabling a friends’ quest for vengeance or saving millions of lives at the cost of someone dear to him. Home to a prestigious clan and family marred by the once futile efforts of a past generation at rebellion against Lord Shimura, Yarikawa is at the heart of Tsushima and a key point in the Mongols’ efforts to move northward and conquer the island. This is where the Ghost was truly born. The first time Jin actively sought to terrify his enemies. The killing of General Temuge was the catalyst for the style of fighting Jin would adopt in order to save the island of Tsushima. Combine this with the loss of his brother in arms Ryuzo and the rescuing of Lord Shimura at Castle Kaneda, and this entire section lives in my memory as my favorite sequence of events in the game. This edit explores the emergence of the Ghost and how the rumors spread fear deep within the ranks of the Mongol army. With combat interwoven with cutscenes and and an immaculate soundtrack of 10+ and almost a dozen different sound effects used throughout, this is truly a definitive cinematic experience for Ghost Of Tsushima.
