After a few years of action -and a few tumbles- the Terra Scorcher was due for a proper facelift. The paint had chipped off in a few noticeable areas, so it felt good to finally fix that. Fortunately, no cracks on the body. While removing the loose paint, I went a bit too deep so I had to re-do part of the window gasket as well, since in this case it's painted on the bodyshell. Took a bit longer than planned, but I'm glad with the result. I had one of these in the past and it was a great little buggy, they are pretty stout and can go alot of places. Member Model: 18/03/2014 - Bronco off-roading! At first I just wanted a Bronco body for my XB Landcruiser which had become one of my favorites recently - that is after doing several mods!! But once I had finished the body I realized that the CC-01 Bronco had a shorter wheelbase than the Landcruiser FJ 40 ...nothing that couldn't be solved of course but still I decided to get a full kit instead! :-) While my Landcruiser serves as a scale crawler (cr tuned motor etc.) I focused on the faster off road abilities on the Bronco! Mods: - rear diff locked - ball bearings - 4 link rear suspension - front skit plate - side bars - alternate tires from the CC-01 Black Edition Landcruiser - upside down Wrangler body mounts (came with the kit) to keep the roof clean! - interior with driver - also no decal on the grill, left it chrome but scratched off the paint in the recess areas to reveal the black plastic! Member Model: 04/07/2005 - My TTR- Rage Super Clodbuster There is nothing stock with this car except the gearboxes and rims , tires now. It fitted with a TTR - Rage chassis. This is a very nice chassis. The only quirk of this chassis is the way battery is mounted. Its difficult to access the battery. I will modify it one day to go across the chassis, perpendicular to the gearboxes. It is fitted with Sport Tune Motor from Tamiya , its powered via a Super Rooster (fan cooled). I am using 7 cell packs . It runs real fast now without tipping over. My son was pestering me to run a body with the 'Wolverine' decals, but I wanted to save the hardbody for another project. So I picked up a Dodge RAM (HPI), decal-ed it with the stock decals . I took a line from TC member killerkip (pardon my spelling & memory)...Picked Metallic Blue instead of MICA blue for the paint and a dash of silver to spice things up a little. I intially thought it was a bit childish...but it really grows on you ... ! Important thing is the little guy loves it ... his 'Wolverine' roaming the 'badlands'..... In fact I liked it so much I am going to do a Juggernaut 2 version for my Juggernaut 2 ! For the electronics bit , I initially ran the cooling fan off the main batt , but the speed was too low for any real cooling ( Fan is 12Vdc and it came off my old 486 computer ...? that sound distant huh)...anyway . Member Model: 09/09/2004 - Resurection of a ruined car! I bought this Madcap off the bay to complete my St. Dragon, and Fire Dragon set. It is pretty much a Grasshopper 2, with some colorful changes and different bodies. It is another tribute to Tamiya's recycling cars to get the most milage out of them. Out of the box, they had terrible bump steer and bottomed out on the slightest bump. However, they were tough and cheap and a lot of people learned to love rc because of these. When I received this one, it was a lot worse than I thought. There is a description of that elsewhere in my showroom. I hadn't been photographing them when I first saw them, now I do. It was a wreck. Tires, wheels, chassis, arms everything on the bottom scratched to death, this car had a tough life. It did come with a working radio, 2 servos, MSC and the shocks were not too bad. I found a new chassis and arm and front bumper tree, and replaced almost everything. Sorted all the mismatched screws, new wheels and tires, new body and stickers, ball raced, and added the plate to the diff. She looks like new. This was my first airbrush paint job, 3 colors and I elected to leave the windows clear. Member Model: 23/09/2011 - Nephew's Christmas Present - QD Gravel Hound We took one of my daughter's buggies round to her five year old cousin's house recently, and he seemed to love driving it on a nearby field. So, in anticipation of Christmas, I have been keeping an eye out for a well well priced buggy I could get him which would be fun, but also pretty simple. After missing out on a few, this Tamiya Quick Drive Gravel Hound came up and I won it. It was a bit of a punt as I knew nothing about QDs, but it runs pretty well. Better than I expected, and fast enough for a little 'un to have fun with (without doing too much damage). It just needed a bit of a clean up and some minor repairs to some of the wiring. After that it was just a case of stripping off the old decals, removing the residue from the shell, applying some new stickers (leftovers from other projects), adding a new aerial and giving it a polish. Member Model: 07/08/2003 - Tom¬¥s River Swampboat I know that this is not a car, but they actually suggesst in the manual that you can put wheels underneath and drive it on a paved surface. So I thought I might as well add it to my showroom, even though mine has not got wheels. ;-) It¬¥s an unusual boat and very rare indeed! A nice scale replica of a swampboat as it can be seen in the Everglades of Florida for example. KYOSHO sold this kit in the early 90s. It¬¥s an eyecatcher wherever you run it! works well in VERY shallow water, skids easy over flat obstacles like rocks or seaweed. Not too fast, but loads of fun. You can actually blow away smaller boats with the propeller! :-) Running time is a little short, because the propeller is direct-drive (no gearbox). Steering works like a real swamp-boat by re-directing the airstream with two large rudders behind the propeller - works well!!! Member Model: 03/04/2003 - Funky Skyline My very funky explosively coloured R32. This body was a tough job to decal. It has a TA01 underneath with full ball bearings and a stainless steel shaft. Member Model: 28/07/2004 - Raybrig NSX- SOLD I did a deal with my LHS for this. I gave them a few old hornby trains, which were quite valuable, and they gave me the raybrig kit, and a can of paint. I paid ¬£40 for the radio, so it was quite a good deal. I took the esc and motor out of the Bush Devil,(Mtroniks Tempo15, Peak Panther 19x2), and put them in it. The paint was gun metal, and i did it all myself (BIG BOY!). I had one or two runs in the paint, but otherwise it was a pretty good job. The stickers came pre-cut, which i think is a pretty good idea. As you may have seen on my other models, im not a fan of big logos, and cars covered in writing, so i just put the road car style decals on. As for the driving, well it flies! This is my first 4wd, and what a huge difference it makes!! It corners like its on rails! This is going in the favourites section, because so far, i can't see anything wrong with it. Its all to my liking UPDATE: Now fitted with full bearing set and alu prop shaft! :D And trimmed body posts! UPDATE 2:New rims and tyres. Tyres are take off cs-22's, and they grip, and i mean grip. You cant lose control with them! Rims are made by my lhs, and look pretty good. See last 2 pics.
