Bogong group Field Command Vehicle (which lives at the Beechworth Fire Station) was deployed to the Mt Beauty area last night to assist with incident management along the Tawonga Gap Road. Severe storms caused trees that were too big for chainsaws had fallen over the road & required heavy machinery to remove. Volunteers from many brigades were deployed including: Beechworth, Tawonga, Mt Beauty, Dederang, Falls Creek, SES along with members from Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene. Some campers were left inaccessible in the Mountain Creek Campground area. Falling trees also caused a motor vehicle accident in the area. Fortunately no injuries were reported. This morning, members from your Beechworth Fire Brigade joined other CFA volunteers from neighbouring brigades for the annual group exercise. This year over 85 members from brigades including; Yackandandah, Dederang, Tawonga, Falls Creek, Wooragee, Stanley, Mt Beauty, HVP met in Stanley for the mornings activities. The training drills were based around the forest fire threat that is a major threat in our region. Collaborative training sessions like this are a great chance for our members to meet & work with other crews we’ll work shoulder to shoulder with on the fire ground. Do you want to give us a hand?
