It was important to me to make latinos feel they have a pure representation of a mexican girl who understands and speaks slang and who has her traditions on her mind. Latinos are braver and stronger than we and the history have allowed ourselves to think. As a Mexican immigrant woman who lives in this country with a government that right now is strongly rejecting us, I wanted to show a great strength and strong values in this character. Every single inhuman we known at first was scared by the new powers but one of the first things we heard from Yoyo is that her powers are a gift from God. She's not fearless. That would diminish her.
