✨This months highlights This month I baked with over 50lbs of flour (officially switched to buying in bulk), made over 400 cookies, baked over 700 individual items and cakes, and added some new things that will be added to the menu soon. My favorites for this month have been the traditional German cake turned into cupcakes called “ Frankfurter Kranz” , the German Apple cake muffins, and the German Nuss Ecken (nut corners). My biggest surprises this month was: 1) how many people bought the German poppy seed cake and loved it as much as I do. 2) every person that tried the nut corners…bought one and was amazed how delicious these simple cookies are. my first market ✨️ and face reveal/meet the artist?? 🥹 Hi! If you've been following along my journey, then you may know me as Mai! But if you've known me from living in Birmingham, you may know me as Abbie. Abbie is my first name, and Mai is a part of my Vietnamese name! I don't mind being called by either! Creating Mai's Art Cafe was about embracing two things I felt like I could never do growing up throughout my life: my vietnamese culture and my love for art ❤️ Posting this felt really scary but exciting. Yesterday was our first market and it was such a good experience and learned a few things. First if you're going to have white table clothes and outside - bring tide pens because dirt is going to show up and stain 😅 Bring back up chalk markers! Mine died on me and I had to flip my wooden signs over and make due 😬 Axolotls - have them lots of them. I did not make any for this and the first thing I was asked was do I have them. I ended up making two while there that I gave to one fo the other vendors for his kids. Bring a battery pack to charge your phone if doing card payments. Mine died an hour before the event ended. But thankfully we both had the app downloaded. And I am so thankful to everyone who was patient with me as I learned to use the card reader as well and thankful for everyone that stopped in whether they bought or not.
