So are these seats hard to secure in advance if you are flying Business? The answer is “not really”. First trip of the year - SQ710 to Bangkok 🇹🇭 While it's a nearby destination, I've always been more fascinated about the journey itself. Checked in at T2 about 4 hours in advance, got on the SkyTrain to T3 for the SKL. Before heading back to T2, detoured to the Krisflyer Gold Lounge, next door, then redeemed a free cocktail at the Lotte DFS store (level 2). Checked out the SKL at T2 briefly before heading to the gate for boarding. Plane got swapped for a A350-900 instead of the usual B787-10 used for regional flights. While the hard products are the same, the fuselage is slightly wider and the mood lights gave a nicer atmosphere in the cabin. The A350-900 medium haul also features an extra "mini" business class cabin of 3 rows, in between the main business cabin & economy seats. Sitting on the right of the plane gave some awesome views of the east coast when departing from Changi (eye spy the National Stadium & Marina Bay Sands). In a couple of months I will leave this country. I’m obsessed with Chinese history, so it’s been incredible to live in China and especially in the Capital for so many years. What a strange feeling. Usually I experience really bad separation anxiety and withdrawal symptoms, but 3 years of being stuck in this environment during covid really does things to your psyche. I know it’s time to move on. Exactly 12 years after I left Frankfurt in Jun 2012, I will now return to this city I once called home and an airspace I’ve flown over too many times to count (including getting to and from NYC for 5+ years). I am also taking over my very first mentor, who taught me so much about aviation ops but most importantly shaped my work ethic and laid the foundation for becoming the leader that I am today. Talk about coming full circle and what an honor. After 10 years, I’m finally heading back to Europe. A continent that I love, am very familiar with, and a region that I’ve been wanting to return to. Plus with this new role overseeing Germany & Switzerland, it comes with an almost 100% guarantee that I can continue to handle heavy snow and winter ops, my ultimate passion✌🏻 #snowqueen ❄️👸🏻😆 Super grateful.
