1980 Mexican Spec Ford Fairmont Box Top - 40409L Hello friends Here we have a beautiful 1980 Ford Fairmont Box Top 2 Door Sedan. Under the hood is a 302 V8 linked to a 3 speed manual transmission. This isn't the US 302 with all the smog equipment, this is all engine and all power. This car is all original. The paint is original and so is the red vinyl interior with plaid inserts. The car has traveled 95,338 KM (59,240 Miles) to date. The tires look to have the wrong offset but that is an easy fix. This car is not perfect, but for being an all original car, it is very nice. I don't see a power steering pump nor do I see a power brake booster. Needless to say there is no air compressor either. You don't get a heater either. If you need a heater or air it can be installed for not all that much money. This car is all go, and a little show. I think the move here is to lower it a little and drive the heck out of it. (1978-1983 Ford Fairmont Futura 2-Door)🇺🇸 On this gloomy, rainy, cold Sunday. I was not sure if I’d see any cars worth writing about. Until I stumbled upon this beautifully preserved Ford Fairmont. Not many folks remember these mid size cars too well. But if I were to mention the Fox Platform. Then I now I have your attention. The Ford Fairmont and Mercury Monarch were great descendants of the famed Fox Platform of the the 1980s most popular known for Mustangs. The Fairmont and Monarch were released in the summer of 1977 for the 1978 model year. All a part of Ford’s mission to downsize cars to achieve the best average fuel economy across the brand. This car in particular is the Ford Fairmont model with the Futura trim level which dates back to the Falcon Futura of 1965. This Futura trim got you white wall tires, wire spoke hubcaps, plushy cloth interior with faux wood appointments, an optional cassette player, electronic readouts for gear selection and time, even 2 tone paint. This car is the much rarer 2 door version with a strange roof to window shape that reminds me of the big and boat like Thunderbird or 1977-1979. Power from this car is the 2.3L carbureted Lima 4 banger which in translation means this car runs probably every 3rd Tuesday and can’t get out of its own way on the interstate. These old Fairmont were commonly gutted and 302 swapped to be made into fierce drag cars since they share the same relative Mustang chassis. Parts are easy to come by. 1978 Mexican Spec Ford Fairmont Box Top - 40330G Hello friends. Here we have a 1978 Ford Fairmont Box Top. The term Box Top refers to a 2 door sedan in the Fairmont line. Under the hood is a 302 V8 and this one is an automatic. The closest I can find for the name of this color is Light Chamois. If you know what this color is please let me know, if I am wrong. The wheels have been color coded to the car. That is a lot of effort to make the car stand out. I know there aren't a lot of pictures but what we can see of the front bench seat, two tone brown, is in great condition. This car has no factory air. You can see from the hood open picture the engine compartment is really clean. As you can see it is a rust free example. This car is ready for another 40+ years of service.
