Yet, peculiarity of Serbia is that Volvos are quite underrated and therefore pretty rare. Shame, because these are really good cars. I've always liked this car, especially how it looks like. It was influenced by 1992 Volvo ECC concept, but even today it looks really nice, simply defies the fact it was introduced 24 years ago. When you look at it you definitely get the impression of robust and quality made car, in really nice package. Design details I really like are vertical tailights and boxy estate shape, which is basically Volvo's heritage, since all Volvo estates had such body shape. Particular example is a #2001 model, so a pre facelift model, powered by 2435cc I5 168 HP petrol engine, mated to 5 speed automatic gearbox. The car is in decent shape, still bearing its original alloy wheels. Thing I definitely don't like is that blue colored trim, which looks the best either black or color coded. Well, this car was the first ever production car that featured standard seat belts, therefore revolutionizing automotive safety and made the Volvo's reputation for putting the car safety on the first place. The Amazon replaced the old ageing PV544 and introduced much modern pontoon body. Even though it's widely known as Amazon, the official factory designation was 120-Series. In case of this particular example, 121, which means it's a model featuring engine equipped with single carburettor, either 1583cc, 1780cc or 1990cc, with power outputs of 60, 68, 75 or 82 HP. Essentially, 121 was the entry level 2 or 4 door saloon model in the Amazon model range. Particular example is in mint condition obviously, in fantastic metallic purple color, which absolutely suits the Amazon. It's actually really cool there's been another 240 beside that silver saloon, to complement it. Like the saloon model, this is also a very late example, introduced after the name 240 started being applied to all of these cars. GLT is a top of the range model for the estate, equivalent to the GLE trim on saloon. This example is powered by one of the legendary, bulletproof Red Block petrol engines, most likely a B230, since this is a late model. These strikingly boxy car, which are essentially upgraded and restyled 100-Series, have proven themselves to be an extremely quality made cars. They were praised for their safety, famous "red-block" engines which have proven their quality, interior space, especially on estate models. This particular example is a #1987 model, part of series introduced in 1986, whose name consists of just 240 and trim level name. Earlier models used naming scheme, where first digit indicates model name, second number cylinders in engine and third number of doors. In 1986, that scheme was dropped and all of these cars were branded 240, regardless of number of doors. This example is powered 2383cc 79 HP diesel engine, coming from VW. The car is in excellent condition, yet I would definitely get rid of those wheels and put something period correct. Even though 200-Series Volvos were hugely popular with more than 2.8 million examples sold. Yet, here, these cars are actually quite rare, same as other old Volvos and there's one reason for that - insane thought that German cars are the only reliable and quality made cars to exist. Volvo 740 GL (1984 - 1992) 🇸🇪🇧🇪 ——————————————————————— After those numerous Mercedes-Benzes, here's a really nice 740 Volvo, which is a lot more appealing, at least to me. So, here's a what it seems a very early 740, 1986 or earlier, since it has older type of badge font and these shiny hubcaps. Even though the 740 is by far the most common version of the whole 700-Series, it's actually not the first that appeared, since that was the 760. Despite being initially intended as the 200-Series replacement, it never actually replaced it because Volvo produced both models in parallel and 700-Series lived for just a year longer than the 200. While its predecessor's middle digit in the name suggested number of cylinders, for 700-Series it meant where in the lineup the model sits. As for 740, 4 in the middle means it's just an entry level model in the 700-Series, regardless of the engine. When it comes to engines, 740 had only I4 petrol units and only I6 diesel ones. Particular example is in mint condition, and as you can see it was imported from Sweden, probably really long time ago. While standard 940 is something you do find, no often, special coachbuilt versions of these cars are rare. They were popular basis for ambulances and limousines, like this one. This basically a standard 940, but with stretched wheelbase and another pair of doors added. Such a car was probably by some embassy or hotel or something similar. Particular example is from #1994 and has 2316cc I4 131 HP petrol engine. This definitely isn't a luxury kind of limousine, yet the one mostly used as a people carrier.
