1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS driven by Oliver Bryant @ollybryant. I think the Porsche 904 GTS design is utterly beautiful, sleek aerodynamic almost shark like. The 904 was the first Porsche to use a ladder chassis and fibreglass body.The fibreglass body was bonded to its steel chassis for extra rigidity. Most 904s were painted silver, the modern German national racing color. The bodies were supplied by contracters, made by spraying fiberglass into moulds, this led varying differences in thickness and weight. The 904 could though reach 0 to 60mph in under 6 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. I total 108 were made with chassis numbers starting with 904 and 2 prototypes fitted with 240 bhp flat six. Inital price was $7245. An they had enough orders to meet FIA Group 3 homologation rules. Looking at the car you'd think it was designed in a wind tunnel but no it was designed by hand. 1913 Theophile Schneider Aero Special Th. Schneider was a French automobile manufacturer. The Société anonyme des automobiles Th. Schneider was registered at Besançon on 16 June 1910.Vehicle production finally ended early in 1930, some ten months after the company's second declaration of bankruptcy, in March 1929. A significant proportion of the manufacturer's output was exported to England. By the time he established the company that carried his name, Schneider was already a very well seasoned automobile manufacturer. With Edouard Rochet, Schnieder had been involved since 1889 or 1894 with the Lyon based Rochet-Schneider company. Although Schneider had apparently been registered at birth with the name "Théodore Schneider", many friends and business partners knew him as "Théophile Schneider". Use of the name Th. What was the fastest automobile in 1905? It was the 1905 Darracq 200HP. Powered by the first true example of a V8 engine.Built in France with the sole aim of breaking speed records, it was shipped to the United States soon after its debut to show its prowess and made its first 120-mph run at America’s birthplace of speed, the Ormond-Daytona Beach in Florida. This is no small feat, there are no floor boards, you brace your feet on the cross member of the chassis. If you look down all you would see is the road flashing by. Fitted with a 22.5 L overhead valve V8 made from two Bennett Trophy engines mated to a single crankcase, producing 200 hp (150 kW; 200 PS), making it one of the first specialised land speed racers, and on December 30, 1905, Victor Hémery drove this car to a speed of 109.65 mph (176.46 km/h) in the flying kilometer at Arles, France. Lada 1600 (1976 - 2006) 🇷🇺 ——————————————————————— It ain't exactly a Zastava, but it fits Zastava gathering excellent. Namely, as I mentioned countless of times in Yugoslavia Ladas were sold through Zastava's dealers network, as a part of additional lineup, which consisted of whole Lada model range, plus some FSOs, Polski Fiats and also some Fiat cars, at some point. The 1600 or 2106 as it's known, is a modernized version of the previous 2103. Visual changes aren't drastic, since the car got new grille, rear lights and bumpers, as well as the updated interior. The car was also available with height adjustable headrests, which was novelty for Lada's cars. Even though it was intended as a more modern alternative for the 2103, the car actually didn't replace it right away, since both of them were built alongside each other for almost 10 years. 2106 was produced primarily with 1568cc 75 HP, hence it's name. Other engine options were also available, yet less known than this one. That reflects the fact 2106 was positioned as a top of the range product in Lada range. Particular example is in mint condition and looks splendid in this white, creamish color. #Eurotrashweek 2024 is near us! To fresh up all of your minds, let me illustrate to you what a typical Eurotrashweek post looks like. And the subject to illustrate that with? The Mercedes-Benz R-Class! The R-Class truly is a love-it-or-hate-it car, making it perfect #eurotrash. The ugly duckling of 00s Mercedes-Benz divides Mercedes fans in two camps like no other Mercedes does. Some appreciate it for its ridiculousness and imposing looks - others hate it for being too American and sloppy build quality. See, the R-Class was developed and manufactured by the American branch of the USA, which made it a car not so fitting for the European market, even though the short wheelbase, as we see it here, was a car specially developed for Europe. Instead of charming European carbuyers into this new concept that Mercedes-Benz called “Grand Sports Tourer”, carbuyers remained rather confused by the mixture of an MPV, minivan, station wagon and SUV that the R-Class was. To add onto the drama: even American buyers weren’t charmed by the R-Class, as it resembled its less premium sibling, the Chrysler Pacifica (also a car that was doomed with reliability issues), a little bit too much. Mercedes thought to sell 50.000 R-Classes per year, but in its best year, 2006, they barely sold 30.000. However, after all the car would be built for roughly 13 years, as in the last years of its life cycle, suddenly the Chinese thought an R-Class was an interesting offer. Now, every good #eurotrash post has to make a combination of car and Eurovision song. If This Eurotradh Car Were A Eurovision Song, it would be Keine Grenzen by Troje. A 2003 entry singing about hie there are no borders: from Germany, to the USA, to China - the R-Class truly is a global citizen of the car industry. The song fits it perfectly, sung in its mother tongue… although it was Poland’s entry in 2003.
