This verse sets a great tone for a new week, so I’m throwing the Monday anchor here. God is giving a directive, telling us to put on a new heart and to deny ourselves and to persevere in it, maintain it. Not easy in the times we are in...when no news is the best news... and there is so little kindness or compassion in the world. But He reminds us right at the start that we are chosen, holy, and beloved. No matter what trials come as we move through this week, how we are treated, or ignored or frustrated, the truth remains we are His and we have the Holy Spirit to empower us and guide us. We ARE chosen, holy, and beloved and all His promises are Yes and Amen. Good morning sweet sisters. In starting to work on something to share, I was thinking about it being Sunday. How I have often shared images/posts that focused on it as a time for praising and giving thanks to God or worshiping and glorifying Him. Not like the world, but of the world, the lost. They need Jesus. So we need to mindful with the mind of Christ. He came to give Himself up, to serve, and His compassion became action. Jesus was “moved” with compassion. Praying today that we would be filled with the Spirit, perfectly attuned to His leading, and that compassion would drive our hearts to action for others. It’s only Monday and I haven’t even started my week let alone had the chance to lose heart!” But here’s my thoughts (yes, there are thoughts in there among the packing peanuts). Some (fellow believers) are in seasons or battles that are dragging on and they are staring down the barrel of another week, having to muster strength to keep going. For others anxieties and all the pressing of the world is draining them. These verses just get our hearts focused from the start, looking up to Jesus. Only the eternal matters and yet we, broken earthen vessels, matter so much to Him that He died for us, for all, to be saved. Praying today we stand firm and take heart, keeping our heart fixed on Him and His promises. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jer 1:5 Happy Mother’s Day to all the Grandmas and Moms. But I want to say it to the Aunties, Sisters, Cousins, and Friends as well because these women are often “moms” too. We’ve heard this verse from Jeremiah spoken many times over children, or teens to encourage them in an endeavor or work. But today think about how it applies to Moms and to Titus 2 women. How God has formed you and set you apart for the special task of loving and nurturing. He has called you and blessed you with raising up little ones and/or edifying others in Christ. We are called to walk holy and be living epistles of Jesus and His love to those God has created and placed in our lives. It’s breathtaking to think before the foundations of the world, we were chosen to be mothers or to “mother” others, and were created with that in mind. Whoa! It is hard work because we ourselves are still being sanctified, and we know we fall short. But like Our Lord Jesus, we love fiercely and faithfully and we rely on the Father. Praying today for all my sisters in whatever way you are a “mom”. That you would know how important you are, created for this role, this special work, uniquely made just for you. Lord God, bless my sweet sisters today and always. Speak love and patience into their hearts as they go about their days with all the demands, and give them peace when it becomes overwhelming. Give them the deep joy that is Yours and the contentment of knowing they are walking in Your special work, which You created just for them. Help them to know You are near with Your wisdom, mercy, and grace to help in times of need. Good morning sweet sisters. Hallelujah! Right? We belong to a patient God, a long suffering Lord, who is pleased to take His time with each of us. I got to thinking about this and whoa... For each one of us, He has perfect knowledge of us, and saw our substance before we were formed and fashioned and He recorded all our days. (Ps 139) He has numbered the hairs on our head (Matt 10:30), promised to complete the work begun in us (Phil 1:6), and declared that nothing can take us from His hand (Jn 10:28). Again, Hallelujah! (me) It is simple. Jesus prayed. He taught the disciples how to pray with a definite expectation of them having a prayer life. “When you pray....” The word pray appears 52 times in the Old Testament and 57 times in the New Testament. Prayer is essential, now more than ever. Jesus is coming. People are perishing. As followers of Christ Jesus, we NEED to pray. To press in and seek His Face, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to BE READY. We are in a war for souls and our weapons are not carnal but spiritual. “As soldiers in the army of the Lord, we are not called to sit on the sidelines while other believers engage in the fight of faith. Finally Friday, praise God. I was reading this verse and realized it’s an “answer verse”. (Jump on my train of thought here... I know scary, but God’s got ya.😉) In thinking about the week, how it went, the challenges, different situations, how I handled it or should have handled it.. this verse is a beautiful answer. Whoever or whatever is vexing or perplexing or frustrating, I can stop and say, “but You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” What a joy! What an amazing and awesome God we serve and call Abba, Father. Lord, thank You for being our Good and Gracious God. Good morning. What a beautiful Sunday. What a great day to Let go. As we gather and sit at His feet, what’s in our hands and hearts? What are we holding onto? Who are we holding onto? Can we receive from the Lord when our hands are full? Can others receive from the Lord when we’re trying to “hold” their hands? Praying that we learn anew to Let Go and Let God be God. That we search the Word and be strengthened anew to walk in The Spirit and persevere in prayer, with hands open and lifted in full surrender, not our will but Yours, Lord. Our God is Almighty, Creator, Provider, Everlasting and Faithful. He willingly let go, and gave up His Son, His solution to the separation our sin caused. His ways are not our ways....they are infinitely better. So today let go, lay down, give over. Rest and trust Him. This whole passage in Hosea, God’s promises to Israel, so beautiful. (2:15- 23). In my Bible the heading of this chapter says God’s Mercy on His People and while it was written to Israel long ago, there is a truth here for us. No matter what happens today Our God is on the Throne, Jesus is coming and we are His People. No one can snatch us from His Hand or separate us from His Love. His mercies are new every morning. The world just spins on...rumors, crisis, and threats all abound. But praise God so have revivals, healings, and salvations. The Spirit is moving! Hallelujah! The enemy started it in the garden and he still tries it, “has God said?” For believers, God HAS SAID and in Christ Jesus all His promises are yes and amen. His promises are what we believe and His Word is the rock we stand on. The enemy shouts ‘look over here at this and be afraid or look at that thing and tremble’. As we rise up and pray, the enemy goes on alert and battle lines are drawn. When faith comes into the prayers “it’s on” and the fiery darts start flying. If the enemy can’t distract us from prayer he will mess with us regarding our faith, accusing us; what little faith we have, how we don’t pray enough because we don’t really believe, how if we had enough faith we wouldn’t even be in this situation... Lies..all desperate lies. We need to remember that it is the kind of faith we have, not how much, that matters. It is Who we put our faith in that makes all the difference! “A small amount of faith, as small as a mustard seed, can accomplish great things if that small amount of faith is placed in the Great and Mighty God.”(Spurgeon) Lord Jesus, You are our Living Hope, we put our little trustard seeds of faith in Your Hands. Fill us with Your Spirit. Increase our faith and help our unbelief. Forgive us for those times we get distracted and caught up in the lies. We know that nothing is impossible for You. We have a glorious promise to claim and stand firm on. The promise that God will continue to work in us, to prepare us and perfect us. Goodnight friends. Holy Thursday is drawing to a close. Jesus might have been in the garden right now, praying fervently for the disciples and for us. (Jn 17:6-26) How precious is Our Lord! How generous and loving. Earlier that day He knew what was coming, and He took the time to give each disciple a beautiful gift, an intimate moment with Him as He washed their feet. It was a lesson yes, but I like to think that He wanted one of their last memories of Him to be His touch and that closeness, not the horror of His death. Oh how He loves! Time for a midweek 🤜🏼🤛🏼bump and I’m thinking about “Wednesday” of Holy Week. One devotion stated it was the day Mary anointed Jesus and the day Judas betrayed Jesus. Could there be a greater contrast or more perfect example of “He who is not with Me is against Me,” (Matt 12:30a)? The image is so fitting. Mary was so grateful that she couldn’t contain it. Her actions sang her praise and worship. Then there’s Judas..... If I allow myself to really be honest, I betray Jesus, far too often. I get distracted, neglectful, timid, or fearful. I can disregard the Word, or the Spirit, be critical, prideful, or angry and in all that, I betray Him. But hallelujah, because of His great love and sacrifice on the Cross I can go to Him and find forgiveness! I can go boldly to the throne of grace! I can be at His feet and pour out my thanks and praise in inexpressible relief and gratitude. So I’m praying today that as women of God this is our testimony. I'm hoping you'll be hopping onto my train of thought. Israel was waiting, praying for her Messiah, especially with the Roman oppression bearing down. Jesus came on the exact day at the exact time the prophets had said, and hundreds of years of prayers were answered! But not the way the people wanted or expected. Their minds were set on a warrior king to free them from Roman rule. So their hearts were unprepared for a servant king to free them from sin and death. We can sit back and think about how sad that is and yet... Are we prepared for what we're praying for? Are our hearts and minds open to receive God's answer, whatever it may be and however it may look? Do we trust Him that much? It’s so easy to plan our week, make commitments and work the deadlines. We arrange everything with our own strength and ability in mind, practically checking the box in our head that it’s already completed and strategizing a plan for the really difficult tasks. We’re ready to deal with the problems. We got it. The checklist gets completed, but we might be missing the mark. The Lord WILL hear my voice, I WILL direct my prayer to Him and I WILL look up. The “Looking up” caught me. There’s so much happening all around us and the world screams for our attention. Good morning. It’s Monday and we have a new week full of opportunities, divine appointments and challenges stretching out ahead of us. I like to have a “anchor” verse on Monday that is BOOM! But sometimes power comes in smaller packages, so here I am with a verse in Psalm 32. It is amazing that Our God, the Almighty, will instruct and teach and counsel with His loving eye on us. But the thunder of His power who can understand?” Job 26:13-14 Hello sweet sisters. I love this reminder, God whispers because He is so close. We know that the Lord is most often in “a still small voice”, (1 Kings 19:12) not the big thunderings and I think it’s another beautiful way that He shows His love. He is all powerful yet so close to us, and in the whisper He is drawing us closer to Him. We have to really lean in and seek His Face with all our focus to hear the whisper. It’s tender and intimate. These verses have been floating around in the background for a while and then I heard a teaching that brought them front and center in my heart. The speaker said “We (as Christians) know the times we are in. We are here for such a time as this. So we can no longer pray without purpose. It is time to pray with purpose. We can no longer speak words without worth. We need to be speaking words that are going to land on people’s hearts and draw them into the truth of the Word of God. To draw them to a place where they say ‘I cannot remain the way that I have been. Something has to change.’ We can do that because we have the words of eternal life.” So I’m asking myself about my prayers and my words? Where do they stand? Heart checked. Lord Jesus, Forgive us for thoughtless words and sometimes distracted prayers. Prayer is a privilege. Our words are to be seasoned with your truth. Seeking the Lord has come up several times this morning and I think it falls in with “He is before all things” from the Colossians verse yesterday. It’s putting Him first, seeking His heart, and His will. When we do that.. truly, with all our heart, He will bring us from our captivity. Whatever chains are holding us will be broken. One definition of seek is “to go out and search for” so cue the Indiana Jones theme and away we’ll go. Kidding. But I think it does mean we need to step out of our comfortable spaces and walk in faith. The Lord is there in every opportunity to share the gospel, or in moments where love or compassion are needed. I like the idea expressed in the image, not sure about the wording though. The intensity expressed immediately brought to mind Jacob wrestling for the blessing. We definitely should open the Word of God everyday with the expectation that He is going to speak to us through it, but it should already be precious to us, it’s our daily bread. So I don’t think it’s about God “showing up”. He’s already there and has been there waiting for us to “show up” with hearts prepared and ears attuned. He wants to reveal His Word to us and bless us. Hello! Time for a Wednesday 🤜🏼🤛🏼bump. This verse came to mind in bible study group last night, and I vividly recalled the heart check I felt when I first read this translation. Kinda like right now. Reading “timidity” and “discipline” the Spirit nudges. How often is the gospel on my lips? How quick or willing am I to share it? Am I timid? Why? While still dealing with the reality of those questions, discipline comes along. I don’t even need to ask myself..I already know, and so does God. Yet praise Jesus, through Him I can put a But God right here because the “love and power” of this verse is the same in any translation. God loves me with His perfect love and so I can love and He will give me power to overcome. Lord Jesus, praying that we walk in Your Spirit and His power to be disciplined and faithful in our time with You, in prayer and in Your word. That the love You have for us moves in us and overflows into a fierce burning love for others, with an urgency to share the gospel, the glorious Hope we have. Good morning. Today is a two-fer Tuesday. The first image is such a great visual of the lights we should be in the dark world and a great reminder that “doing good” is doing everything with love. The second image I’ve shared a few times (I need new material, I know) but when it comes to where God has us and how He uses everything, especially the small, or lowly things for His glory, this always comes to mind, “your part is needed”. Whatever you are doing and wherever you are doing it... your part IS needed. It is a work created for you only. One day in heaven we will see the finished work, and how each of our parts fit. We’ll see that a smile, an encouragement, a prayer, a Bible verse, just showing up, working diligently or making that phone call brought God glory. So keep doing and keep shining. We are almost there sisters…just press in a little more. This image caught me with the “little more”, and now you get to jump on my (crazy) train of thought. Our God IS More. He promises us life more abundant (Jn 10:10) and that He is able to do far more than we could ever ask or think (Eph 5:20). The thief is all about less; we have less than we should, we’ve done less than we could, and we are less, not fit for God. Not today or tomorrow thief! Our God is More and in Him we are more, more than conquerors, more than our problems or trials, more than our circumstances, or our pasts. We are daughters of the Most High, heirs to the Promise. Everyday as we walk closer, press in and seek Him, He is making us a little more….like Jesus. Don’t let the thief take your eyes off the prize. Trust the process! Good morning. It’s the day after the world celebrated Love. The candy is 50% off, the florists are recovering, and the restaurant prices drop back to high-normal instead of high-high. “Love” is back in its usual place. But did you hear it this morning in the songs of birds or in the quiet sunrise, word of His Unfailing Love? When you opened your eyes did you become aware He was already there? Ready for your day? While the world goes about its business, Jesus is ready for whatever we are facing today. His unfailing love surrounds us because we trust in Him. So seize the day!
