This is just wild, check out this Poecilotheria regalis exuvia! She molted maybe a day or two ago judging by the dexterity of the molt, and it is huge!! One of my favorite things about this genus is some of the species possess a vibrant yellow coloration under their first four legs that aids in warding off predators! Normally, I'd struggle to capture said feature, but now I can show it off in it's entirety with this molt! I managed to capture the yellow on the underside of my P. regalis legs! They use that vibrant yellow coloration to ward off predators by throwing up their front set of legs and bearing their fangs! It's an incredibly intimidating sight, as the yellow shocks and confuses predators and keepers alike. Several species of Poecilotheria have this bright yellow underneath their front set of legs, however not all of them possess this same feature, some only being white on the ventral with their respective black banding, varying from species to species. Usually, this aids in identifying different species. For example: P. regalis, P. striata, P. fasciata, P. ornata, and P. rufilata. I took my new Poecilotheria reglis out for some photos, and these came out amazingly well! Most of you know that Poecilotheria can be extremely skittish, and that can be extremely offputting given their venom potency. One of the probable reasons for this specimen being so tolerant of me actually has to do with it's previous living arrangement. This P. regalis was kept communally with up to 40 others of it's species.
