It Chapter 2 is 169 minutes and I could feel every second of it. I did enjoy the first thirty minutes or so but there isn’t enough happening for a three hour movie. So many scenes didn’t seem to go anywhere or serve a purpose. They go through the same formula over and over to pad out time. One thing I liked about the first were the characters. Seeing them grown up was amusing at first but it got dull fast. I found myself not really caring about them which is sad because they were trying so hard to keep them interesting. Another thing I liked about the first was the fact that it didn’t rely on jump scares to frighten the audience. Whenever Chapter 2 tries to be scary, it does. It’s hardly even a horror movie. It’s more of an action movie. My biggest positive it that I think the adult cast do a great job at being a believable future for these kids. It Chapter 2 is a competently made, dull, and disappointing sequel that’s at least trying. I don’t hate it. I definitely don’t love it.
