JELLY....the original & best Bingin Surfboard Ding Repairer... but for us the story of this incredible man goes so much further.... when my father first visited Bali in the 1980's, Jelly was just an ambitious young grom with bright orange (dyed) hair! He wore a t-shirt that said "Carry with Jelly" and for Rp.3,000 (AUD$0.30) he would carry your boards and gear down the Bingin cliff (there were no steps in those days), he'd wax up your board, and run down with a towel when you came in from your surf, he'd then hang out your gear to dry while you ate a Rp.5,000 (AUD$0.50) Nasi at one of the 3 warungs on the beach; and when you were all surfed out, he'd pack it all up and carry all your gear back up to the top of the cliff (again...no stairs!). Jelly's family have continued to be a part of the JABEKI family ever since; with one of his brothers, Wayan, project managing the build of JABEKI; and another of his brothers being the incredible Made, who with his wife Ketut, have been looking after JABEKI guests for over 16 years!
