Heading back to Panama to play Tribal Gathering beach edition and am off-grid starting tomorrow. I took this photo when I was there last October to play the eclipse event deep in the jungle, but couldn’t bring myself to post any photos because the Oct 7th attack had just happened that week. I naively thought by now some sort of resolve would have happened, but no, it’s just gotten more and more horrific and I continue to be disappointed by humanity. And so here we are, nearly half a year later. Thankfully the music has continued to play and people have continued to dance and the sun and moon have continued to rise and fall giving us another day and another day. But I’m not taking any of it for granted, and I’m still holding the vision that some day, when our species is a little more enlightened, true global peace can be achieved. In the meantime, tomorrow I go off grid into the jungle once more, and will be playing a very special and rare set 110bpm DJ set including my slower Eartha Harris material along, followed by a 2 hour progressive/psytech with my new unreleasies Saturday morning 4-6am after Klopfgeister. This is the 10 year anniversary of playing my first Tribal Gathering, just like it was my 10 year anniversary of Envision last week, and I continue to be so thankful for all the places music has allowed me to see of which I never would have otherwise. I really enjoyed slowly building my journey and experience with each workshop, eventually leading me to the dance floor which was just gradually explosive 🧨 2. Do things that make you feel uncomfortable (but honour and respect your boundaries) - this is always the lesson. I learned I’m very comfortable using my voice, but not letting loose and surrendering to singing freely - this feels out of control, scary. Singing mantras or lyrics feels safe and cozy, but tapping into my own unique vocal expression through song is a brand new and unfamiliar territory to me. It was interesting observing my discomfort during a workshop that pushed this comfort zone, my mind trying to convince me to leave, that it wasn’t for me, that there were other things I could checkout - and that was exactly the reason I stayed until the end. ✔️ 3.
