They are here! . I sent the minis from my copy of Davy Jones' Locker: The Kraken Wakes some time ago to @hartsa_maalaa for "a total make-over". And in this picture you can see the results - they look amazing, don't they? The Kraken looks just as evil as it should! . One of the games I regret selling is 878 Vikings: Invasions of England! . Or well.. I never really got to play it for real. It's basically a game for four players and played in two teams. I never got to experience that because it was a pretty hard game to get to the table. . But I liked having the game. The small flavour texts on the cards, the historical facts behind the game and the art - ah, I loved them! Well, okay, what's the point of having a game if you're never going to play it. . I just hope that the person who bought the game has gotten it played. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

First impressions of Trekking Through History (TTH)! . TTH is an open drafing and set collection game in which players go on a three-day tour into the human history. Each day (aka round) players visit historical events, depicted by cards, and play them to their own timeline. The events cost a different amount of hours but also give you different kind of benefits. Your aim is basically to get as many events in chronological order as possible as the longer your timeline is the more points you score. . We played a three player game, all of us were new to the game. The rules were really simple and basically all the important stuff was written on the player aids so it was easy to start playing the game. The game played quickly and you didn't have to wait long for your turn. . The game felt very light and I would say that you could play it with kids younger than 10 years old (that's the age recommendation on the box). With that being said the game still offered some nice decision-making and wasn't just something you could play brainlessly. . The components were of high quality and I enjoyed the gorgeous art. I also liked that there was some information on the back of the cards about the historical moments they depicted. It's always nice to learn facts when playing! . So all in all I had a positive first impression of TTH! I still need some more plays under my belt before I can say much more about it. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Finally trying Disney Lorcana against another player - my girlfriend! We played it twice in a row and used the starter decks that I have: one from the Rise of the Floodborn set and one from the Into the Inklands set. . The theme in Lorcana is very cool and nostalgic. The gameplay was easy but unfortunately it almost felt too easy.. and too straightforward. Okay, you have to remember that we are both quite experienced with similar card games (like MtG and Pokemon) so that can affect my experience with Lorcana. . What was the biggest con with Lorcana was that at least with the starter decks we didn't see a good way to counteract the opponent. If your opponent got into a lead early on and you didn't have good cards in your hand you were basically mostly watching the other player winning the game. I won the first game with something like 20 lore against 9 and my girlfriend won the other one with 20 lore against something like 3 or 4. . I'm not sure how much that was because of us playing the game for the first time (and using the starter decks from two different sets that were not from the first wave). I personally would have liked to see more cards that let you draw even more cards to your hand so I could have really dug into the deck and find the right cards for the right moment. . Even though I might sound a bit negative, I still enjoyed my plays. And I'm not giving up with Lorcana either! I already have some ideas about some themed decks that I would like to see played.. and I think the game is still growing as they are introducing new powers and rules with each new set that comes out. And there's an official solo mode coming which I'm pretty intrigued by! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Bolets is a small game - and I really mean *small*! It consists of only nine cards and some tokens and fits inside a Pokemon Mini Tin box. So it's easy to pack with you wherever you go! . The aim of the game is to collect as many mushrooms as possible during your journey to Granny's Cottage. Because Bolets is a solo game there are basically no rounds or turns but you're placing the cards one by one on the table, each new card overlapping the previously placed card. . After you've placed a card on the table, you have to trace your path on the card. You can only move in straight lines and you're not allowed to cross your path. You can make a turn to the left or right if you face a wall or a rock. . You also have to take the ravens into consideration: if there are too many visible ravens at the end of the game, you lose the game. You can defeat ravens by crossing them with your path but that way you'll lose a life and if your life goes to zero, you also lose the game. . But if you're able to reach Granny's Cottage with at least one life point, you finish the game successfully! Then you count the mushrooms you've collected (in other words crossed with your path) - the more mushrooms you have, the better! . Bolets is a nice game. It's nothing fancy or groundbreaking but serves some delicious decision-making. It doesn't quite lit a spark in me but I can not but be amazed by how much there's packed in to such a small game. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Some lighter games visited the table! . After almost 50 logged plays of Kingdomino I'm still able to enjoy it. It hasn't offered anything new for a long time but I'm not against playing it. It's simple and easy to teach to new players. . Nowadays I seem to play Wingspan mostly for the art on the cards. The base game without any expansions works okay but the game kinda needs the expansions to make it more interesting. I've been eyeing Wyrmspan, the dragon Wingspan, but I'm not yet convinced about it. . The original Azul remains my favourite of the series. There's some elegance to it that gets lost in the other versions, even though they might be a bit more rewarding as games. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

These pictures are from years ago but.. Guillotine isn't much of a game in my eyes but it certainly adds a lot to it when you have a sword at the center of the table while playing the game. 😅 . The idea in Guillotine is silly (collecting the most valuable heads) but I can't quite remember how you play the game. Today my son, my girlfriend and I started a three player game of Chronicles of Avel. Due to some previously scheduled stuff we didn't have time to play it all the way through. . Chronicles of Avel is a great game. The rules are easy enough to learn and teach quickly but it still serves a nice punch of challenge. My son and I have for example never been able to win this game. . There's an expansion for Chronicles out there but I haven't yet crossed the needed line to purchase it. Testing out Disney Lorcana! A relative of mine recommended me to try it, praising it. And as I'm easy to lure, I succumbed to temptation. . I found an unofficial solo mode on BGG and tried it as I didn't have anyone to play with. I also found out that there's an official solo/co-op mode coming this year which sounded good for me but bad for my bank account. But back to the game.. . Oh, all the nostalgia! There's something heartwarming in seeing familiar characters, items and pictures on the cards. I also happened to buy a deck filled with characters from The Beauty and the Beast and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - two of my favourite Disney movies! . As the solo mode didn't work quite like the normal game (the AI didn't for example use any items or songs), I wasn't able to get "the real experience" out of Lorcana. Yet. But I did like the game as it was. . Hopefully I'll get to play this with another player soon enough! I think Lorcana needs to be shared with other players that have been raised by Disney movies. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Amun-Re by Reiner Knizia @alleycatgames ☀️ It's been a minute since I've gotten to play this epic area majority auction game! It was also my first time playing at the full five player count, which is the best way to play this Knizia classic for sure. 👌 As you can tell, this copy also included some additional deluxe components (thanks to @iloveeventsla ). Our group had a blast with some crazy auctions and laugh out loud moments. My favorite being when everyone went into an offer phase with almost no money, resulting in a player winning it with one coin! 😄 This game is truly unique and unlike any other auction game I've played. It includes a very fun bumping mechanism and cards that aid you in certain phases of the game. Also, halfway through the game, the board is wiped (except for pyramids and bricks) so everything you bought originally is no longer yours. Then you do another auction of all the areas, now with higher stakes as each of them have pre-built pyramids and bricks. I hope to play this one again soon, even at lower player counts, as I own the TMG edition - but it was a treat playing it at the full player count! This will be a go-to game with groups of five for me going forward. 5️⃣

"Roll them chunky dice!" Today my son and I played some games that rely heavily on dice. . First we played MLEM: Space Agency. This time we included the UFO module which brought some nice new things to the game. With the help of the module we finally saw the starship reach the end of the universe! . After that we played a quick game of King of Tokyo. There was nothing completely new experienced but it was nice to see that the game works okay also with just two players. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

May the 4th be with you! . To celebrate the international Star Wars Day my son and I decided to play a skirmish play of Star Wars: Imperial Assault. We didn't use all the rules and stuff, that would have been too much for a six year old (or for daddy's nerves) but we concentrated on moving and fighting. Had a blast! . I really should play Imperial Assault more! Today I had my third play of Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux! . I've only played it solo and I quite like it. The rules are simple and it's quick to set up. Actually, it's also quick to play as my solo plays have taken about 30 minutes per play. . But I'm still learning to master this game. I've now gotten 37p - 50p - 37p and each play has been a loss against "the AI player". If I remember correctly, I haven't had any chance against it! . And now that we're talking about Viking themed games.. Does anybody have experience of Tiny Epic Vikings? I've been eyeing it for quite some time now but I'm still a bit on the edge about it. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Lost Ruins of Arnak with both expansions (Expedition Leaders and The Missing Expedition)! . I really like this game with the expansions. The base game is good as it is but with the asymmetrical player powers from one of the expansions and the new cards and temple boards from both expansions the game starts to shine for real. . We played a four player game. One of the other players and I had a tight game for the victory: we both ended up with 83 points but the other player was able to win due to the tie breakers. 🌹 Castles of Burgundy 🏰 Another day ... another balancing act, this time with my favorite game of all-time. It's official, Castle of Burgundy is my #1 of all-time dethroning Gaia Project for the time being. Don't get me wrong, Gaia is amazing (still my #2) and might recapture its spot at the top but CoB is 👑 atm. Feld's masterpiece imo is one of the best euro board game designs ever, with a clean two dice open drafting system. The puzzle each game of CoB presents always makes me come back for more. 💛 Let me know your #favoriteboardgame down in the comments! 💬 And let us know if it ever changes or how long it's been your top game.

If you've ever wondered what 7 Wonders looks like with six players and three expansions.. Well, something like that! . I do like 7 Wonders but I'm not sure what I think about the expansions. They do add new stuff to the game but for example the Leaders expansion doesn't feel exciting in my eyes. I've played 7 Wonders with the Armada and Cities expansions just maybe one or two times so I can't say much about them but all in all for me the expansions just seem to overcomplicate things in an otherwise pretty straightforward and simple game. . 🪐👩‍🚀 Moonrakers @iv___games 🚀🛰 Got to try a bit of Moonrakers the other day! We weren't able to finish a complete game, so need to give this one another try, but there were some interesting deck building aspects here. 👀 I'll have to see if this one speeds up with more plays as it dragged a bit for us. We also played at two, which was a suboptimal player count. I could see this one being a lot better at 3+ with the added negotiation. And upon my initial play, that's what definitely intrigued me the most ... being able to, in a sense, auction off rewards to potential allies is pretty neat. 👌 Will give a full review when time allows! ⏳️

Another play of Flamecraft! . I've played Flamecraft only four times so I can't call myself a veteran in any means, though. I'm not sure how much replayability it stands or at least I don't get the feeling that I want to play it repeatedly in a short amount of time. . But I still enjoy this game as it is. The rules are relatively simple and at least with two players it plays in about 45 to 60 minutes. Zombie Kidz Evolution is a really fun game! The starting rules are extremely simple and you can basically start playing in just a couple of minutes. . Well, I can't say I grew up with Pirates of the Caribbean movies but they were definitely a part of my teenage years. Actually, just a couple of weeks ago my girlfriend and I watched the Gore Verbinski trilogy and it kinda wakened my interest for pirate stuff once again. And then I saw this game, Davy Jones' Locker: The Kraken Wakes, available at a Finnish boardgame store and I couldn't resist myself. . It's a co-operative game for 1-5 players. That's actually almost all I can say about the game - I didn't do much research on it. I just thought "that sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean, I'll try it". . Games on the train! . My workgroup is on a working trip to another city and as I knew we would have some time on us I decided to pack some games with me. . You might've seen my (quite) recent post about Just One. I thought it would be a great game for travelling so I packed it into my backpack and luckily my coworkers were willing to try it while on the train. . And I have to say, Just One works extremely well as a way to pass time: the rules are simple so it's easy to teach, it doesn't take much space and it's also a highly social game. We played a couple of rounds and the rail journey felt a lot shorter! . Oh, and I think we seemed to have such a great time that I saw at least a couple of other passangers watching our play quite intensively. One passanger also came and asked what game we were playing and said that they have to buy a copy for themself too! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Testing Ecosystem by @gotgeniusgames ! Ecosystem is a card-drafting, tableau-building game in which players are creating their own ecosystems. . Each player starts the game with 10 cards. Each turn players choose one card from their hand and place it into their tableau and then pass the cards to the next player to their left. After each player has played 10 cards to their tableau, 10 new cards are dealt to players and the game continues as earlier but with passing the cards to the right. At the end of the game each player has a 4x5 grid in front of them and they get points based on where they have different cards in their tableau (see the third picture). Whoever has the most points wins the game! . Let's start with the fact that I was a bit surprised when I read the rules. On the box it says the game is for 2-6 players but there are also rules for a solo mode included. So I played Ecosystem solo. . The solo mode was okay. It plays a bit differently from the basic rules but the basic idea in the solo mode is to get 30/50/70 points more than the AI for an easy/normal/difficult victory. I got 36 more points than the AI so I have still work to do.. the thing is just that I didn't get much of excitement from the solo mode so I most likely won't be playing Ecosystem solo again. . But on the other hand I could see myself enjoying this game with other players. It's a quick game with beautiful art and I got the feeling that there's more meaning in what cards you choose and which you pass on when played with multiple players. The rules are also easy to learn and there are well-written player aids for all players included. So hopefully I get to play this with my friends at some point! . *The game was sent to me for content creation by the publisher. I didn't pay for it nor I did get paid for it. All of the opinions in my posts are and remain my own.* . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

"Just wave and smile, boys! Just wave and smile." During the weekend my son and I had a quick game of Hey, That's My Fish! which is a nice small fish-catching game. . On your turn you move one of your penguins on the board in a straight line and collect the tile that your penguin starts its movement from. You can't jump over empty spaces or other penguins. The game goes on until none of the penguins can move any longer. After that you count how many fishes you have on your tiles and whoever has the most fishes wins the game. . It's a simple game but you still have to be able to think ahead on your turn. In some ways this game reminds me of Battle Sheep where you also can move only in straight lines and basically with the same rules of not being able jump over empty spaces or other sheep. But anyways, it was great to see how my son has started to learn to think ahead and for example to see how he can block me. . I also like how this game comes in a small box so it's easy to take with you on a trip etc. To remove the tiles during playing is a bit harsh practice for my fingers but nothing overly difficult. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Finally got a copy of Carcassonne the Castle! This is the fantastic two player only version of Carcassonne by Reiner "The Doctor" Knizia 🏰🔥 This game is such a fun experience, as the board is confined within the walks of the castle. And as you score points, you move along the walls of the castle trying to score just enough to land on juicy bonus spaces. ✴️ Similar to my balance in this photo, this game is such a balanced two player experience with the game always feeling close. It's my personal favorite way to play Carcassonne, and I'm thrilled to have it back in my collection. 💙 What's your favorite way to play Carcassonne? 💬

Tried the solo mode for Kiwi Chow Down for the first time... . ... and well, probably the last time. 😅 . I really like Kiwi Chow Down as a multiplayer game but the solo mode didn't quite live up to the expectations. Overall it felt "just okay" but what made it even worse than that was the extremely poorly written rules. There were too many questions left unanswered. I could have tried and checked BGG for answers but I don't want to use my playing time for that for such a relatively light game as Kiwi Chow Down. . I'm actually a bit annoyed at the moment. But luckily I can play this game as a multiplayer and enjoy it that way. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Today my son and I took the Pokemon cards off of the shelf after a loooong time. We played 'best of three' with them: three battles and whoever got more victories was titled the winner and Pokemon Master! . After two battles we both had one victory so it all depended on the third and final battle. Unfortunately (for me) my son swept the floor with me and took his second victory thus becoming Pokemon Master. . I really like these My First Battle decks which you can use to teach (and learn) how to play Pokemon TCG. The rules are simpler and the decks have less cards in them so they are easier to manage for a six year old. There's some text on the cards so there has to be at least one player who can read (and speak English) but luckily kids are quick to memorize stuff. . Playing with these decks is also pretty nostalgic as all the pokemons in them are from the first set (which are the only real pokemons to me..). . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer #pokemon #pokemontcg

Reposted @keltainennappula I've been on sick leave for almost the whole week. As I started to feel better today, I decided to have a learning game of The Battle for Sampo by @gamestormstudio . I played a two-handed solo game (there's no solo mode in the game). . The Battle for Sampo is a kind of an adventure game for 2-6 players in which the players immerse themselves in to the world of Kalevala, the national epic of Karelia and Finland. Your aim is to become the most legendary hero by claiming the most of 12 heroic deeds before the game ends. You succeed in that by accomplishing different tasks, fighting mythical monsters and helping the people on your journeys. . And I have to say, I liked The Battle for Sampo quite a lot! Of course I wasn't able to get a 100% true experience of the game as it includes quite a lot of take that and fighting between players which is pretty impossible to reflect while playing two-handed. But still I can say that this seems to be a neat game. . The rules took me a while to grasp and especially in the early game I needed to go back and forth the rulebook to doublecheck and clarify things. But after a while the game started to flow and I hardly needed to check the rules anymore. . With two players, even though both characters played by me, the game gave me a feeling it can start to drag as the game can't end before all the deed cards are claimed and two of them can only be claimed when/after Sampo is found. So based on this play I would say this game works the best with maybe 4-5 players, six players might be too many. . Oh, and the art! It really draws you into the world you're exploring and I grew excited every time I got to draw a new card from any of the decks. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

I've been on sick leave for almost the whole week. It really draws you into the world you're exploring and I grew excited every time I got to draw a new card from any of the decks. . The game was sent to me for free by the designer team so I didn't pay for it nor got paid for the content I do about the game. The opinions remain my own. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

A couple of new additions to the collection! . A Finnish boardgame store Poromagia (@poromaagi ) is celebrating its 14th birthday with lots of discounts, special prices and other neat deals. I saw two games there, costing less than 10 euros each, and I couldn't resist them. . Zombie Kidz Evolution. I think I first heard about this game through @board_gamer_from_finland . Or at least I vaguely remember seeing his post recommending the game (like a long time ago) and ever since it has been on my wishlist. So when I saw the Finnish edition with such a low price, I had to buy it. . Just One. I've played this one a couple of times and I find it a nice party game. And once again, seeing the Finnish edition available with such a low price, all I could say was 'Take my money'. . I'm pretty sure both games will offer me great moments and create happy memories. . Happy birthday, Poromagia! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

A three player game of Blood Rage with the Gods of Asgard expansion! . I do get to play Blood Rage too seldom. I quite like it and so far every play has shown some new combos and "ways" to play this game. For me it also feels a lot different based on the player count: with three players it's almost like a different game than with for example five players. And to be honest, I do like Blood Rage more with more players. . Gods of Asgard is an okay expansion. It doesn't bring that much new stuff to the table (not that every expansion should) but thematically I like the idea of having the Norse gods moving on the board. Altough I think I'll houserule the expansion in my future plays and choose new gods for each age - that could bring more variety to the game. . But once again I had fun while playing Blood Rage! I came last but the scores were quite close to each other: 105-104-96. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🎲 UK'OTOA🐉 This game by @critical_role & @darringtonpress might win the award for best board game components. I'm in love with the screaming meeples in this game that really add to the theme of being chased around a ship by a sea dragon. 😂 Overall, a light but fun game all about outsmarting your opposing sailors and being the last one standing. This would be a great gateway or family game as it's super easy to teach and play! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Meadow must have the most stunning art in all of the boardgames that I've played! I just love how colourful and filled with details the cards are. . As a game it unfortunately doesn't quite hit the right spots for me even though I've liked the plays I have had. But I could just drown into those pictures. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🌊Aquatica w/ Cold Waters Expansion🌊 My first time playing this interesting deep sea card game by @arcanewonders & @cosmodromegames.global 🦑 I've always been really interested in this one due to its unique card play. The personal boards with the sliding card mechanism were really cool and overall I was impressed with the component quality / art. 🎨 The gameplay is where I'm a bit torn though. The core mechanisms were great, but some of the cards seemed a bit unbalanced. However, I'd have to play this one again to confirm. Also, we played at four players, so at times it felt a bit hard to plan your turns in advance as the board state changed so much between turns. Plus, it seems like there is a distinct advantage to going first and quite a large disadvantage to going last. 🤔 With all that being said, this is still a game that intrigues me and I had a lot of fun during this first play. So, if I get to play it again in the future I'd be very happy to but it might not be one I seek out. 🦞

A great evening with boardgames! Unfortunately I don't have pictures of one of the games we played but trust me, we had lots of fun. . We started with Hues and Cues, a game in which you have to choose a colour from a card and give a hint about it. Then other players try to guess the right colour on the board after which you give another hint and other players get to guess again. You get points based on how close to the right colour other players get and vice versa. A nice game even for a colourblind person like myself! . Then we played Camel Up with one module from the Supercup expansion. Man, Camel Up is a fun game - once again lots of cool moments and unbelievable situations were witnessed at the table! You can never know for sure which camel is going to win the race. . Lastly we played Six Second Scribbles. In it you get a card with 10 words and a title on it and you have 60 seconds to draw them. After 60 seconds you write the title (like 'Creepy Crawlers') on the paper and give the paper to another player and they have to guess what your drawings depict. Both you and the guesser get points from the correct answers. You play multiple rounds, always with a new card and giving your paper to a new player, and at the end of the last round you count your points and whoever has the most points wins! A superfun game which really puts your drawing skills to a test. . Had fun, once again! A huge thank you to all participants! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Some time ago I bought Diamant (or Incan Gold) and today I brought it with me to an event we organized at work. Diamant is a neat push-your-luck game - the rules are extremely simple and it can be played with 3-8 players without it getting that much longer. . The idea of the game is that players are exploring some sort of mine shafts or caves by turning up cards from a deck. If the card shows gems, they are evenly shared with players (and the "extra" gems are put on the card). Before the next card is revealed, players choose whether they leave the cave or stay there. . If a player leaves the cave, they get to stash all the gems they've found. They also get all the extra gems that are on the cards (or if there are multiple players leaving the cave at the same time, they share the extra gems evenly). . Some of the cards in the deck depict hazards and/or traps. If there are, at any point, two cards with the same hazard shown, all the players still in the cave leave it immediately and lose all their gems that they've collected while exploring that cave. . During the game players explore five caves and whoever has the most gems (points) at the end of the game wins! . So, as said, Diamant is easy by the rules but still offers a lot of excitement. Basically it's almost only about how lucky (or brave) you are but it works well as it is. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

For Northwood! is a somewhat strange game. Or at least I wouldn't have thought that it could be possible to design a solo only trick-taking game. . The game lasts eight rounds and each round you visit a kingdom. In each kingdom you play a variable amount of tricks, trying to win exactly as many tricks as the number of the kingdom is. So for example in the kingdom number 3 you're trying to win exactly 3 tricks. If you succeed in that you score the points for that kingdom. . At the beginning of the game you have four allies that you can use to help you when visiting a kingdom. When you score points for a kingdom you also get their leader to be used as a one-time ally in another kingdom. . After you've visited all the kingdoms, you score your points. You win the game by getting 16 points. I was only able to score 13 points so I still have some training to do. Luckily I had this feeling that I started to understand the game better during the playthrough. As said in the rules - using the allies is crucial! . I quite enjoy For Northwood! It's a clever little game that offers lots of meaningful decisions. It's also almost like a little puzzle that you're trying to solve while playing. . P.s. My copy is the print&play version that you can download from BGG if you're interested. It takes some cutting and glueing to put it all together but with some patience you'll do fine with it. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

I was going through my stats about the games that I've played and/or owned at some point during the years of my boardgaming hobby. I stumbled upon a game called Inuit: The Snow Folk. . Apparently I've played this game three times in 2020. The problem is just that.. I can't remember this game. Or when looking at these pictures I do remember that I loved the art on the cards (and the box was also beautiful) but I have next to no memory of the gameplay. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Orchard: A 9 card solitaire game is almost exactly what the name says. It's a solo only game in which you're creating as fruitful orchard as possible. You place cards on top of each other, trying to overlap trees with other trees that bear the same fruit thus getting dice on the cards to score you points. . Orchard is a nice game that looks beautiful, comes in a small box and plays quickly. The box is almost as small as a regular deck of cards so it fits pretty easily into your pocket. The game doesn't take a lot of table space either and playing it takes under 10 minutes. . Today I was able to get my top score of all time: 47 points! I can't describe how happy I am about that even though the cynical me is telling that it was possible because of good luck with the cards. But I decided that I'm not listening to that voice inside my head! Last night my girlfriend and I played a late evening game of Cascadia as we wanted to play something but nothing too heavy. I ended up losing by 8 points, even with all my salmons and bears.. . I really like Cascadia: it's simple, it's cozy and it still offers relatively lot to think about. It doesn't offer something totally new from game to game but there's still some variety between plays through the different animal cards. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

At work we have an intern who recommended a game called Top Race to me. So I checked if it was available anywhere and I was able to find a cheap used copy (in good condition). . Top Race is a racing game in which you first auction the race cars and then race with them. Each player starts the game with 200 000 dollars worth of money. The cars come up to the auction in a random order, the bid starts at 10 000 dollars per car and you can rise the bid 10 000 on your turn. If you pass on a bid on a certain car on your turn you can't bid on that car anymore but can bid on the next car. The first car in the auction gets the first starting place on the race track etc. Based on the player count you can have multiple cars per race. . When the race starts, on your turn you play a card from your hand and you have to move all the cars pictured on the card from top to bottom. You can block cars for example by filling each lane on a space (you can't pass cars if the space is completely filled). . The race continues until all cars have passed the finish line or when players have no more cards to play. The winner of the race gets the most money and so and so forth. Then you shuffle all the cards and start a new race by auctioning the cars again. You play three races altogether and whoever has the most money at the end of the third race wins the game. . I played a learning game with my son yesterday. Auctioning the cars was a nice twist to the game! You're basically trying your best to read your cards and based on that try to get the best car (for you, I mean) as your car for the race. It was a bit too much for a six year old but we had a nice game anyways. We played through only one race, though. Also with two players the game didn't quite shine but with more players I could see myself enjoying a lot! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🌤☀️ RA ☀️🌤 Every time I played this wonderful auction board game by the doctor, Reiner Knizia, I fall more in love with its design. RA is easily a top five favorite game for me and likely will stay there as I never seem to get tired of its closed auction loop. 🔥 ✨️ Unlike many other auction games, instead of open bidding, the bidding in RA is constrained to the Sun tiles you have (all which have a set number). And as soon as you win an auction, the Sun tile you used to win that auction becomes part of the next auction. So, you're not only bidding for tiles to score points but also your bidding power for the next round. This mechanism is so clean and adds a whole extra layer to think about in each auction. 👍 ✨️ Lastly, the tiles you are bidding on and when each auction is triggered make the game so interesting. This game also can reward those that push their luck and wait out the other players. I could go on and on about the parts of this game I love, but in closing ... if you've not tried RA - check it out! 🙌

Dragomino is one of our favourite children's games at this household! It's a dragon themed tile placement game for 2-4 players: each player is a dragon trainer and your aim is to discover as many baby dragons as possible. . Each round you choose one of the four available tiles and place it on to your own playing area. If you're able to connect tiles with the same land type on them, you get to take a dragon egg for that land type and place it onto your "island". When each player has chosen a tile, you discard all leftover tiles and draw four new tiles and start again. When the tiles run out you count the baby dragons and whoever has the most wins the game. . You can't play Dragomino without comparing it to Kingdomino: the main part of the gameplay is the same! But there are some things that make Dragomino an easier starting game for kids: 👉 You don't have to form a square of your tiles 👉 You don't have to place a tile next to a tile with the same land type 👉 There's some push-your-luck elements when choosing the egg(s) 👉 At least with two players the games take less than 10 minutes . But Dragomino isn't just a brainless game that you can play without thinking ahead. For each land type there's a different amount of eggs but each land type has the same amount of baby dragons. You can also get multiple eggs in one round if you have placed your tiles in such a way that placing a new tile touches to many tiles of the same land type. . So all in all, it's a pretty clever children's game. The theme is very shallow as the dragons are mostly there for the looks.. But they do look pretty awesome and I love how colourful the game is. And at least for my son the theme is appealing. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Today my son wanted to play a new game (or a new to him game) so I decided to try Mio: Brädspelet (or Mio: The Boardgame). It's a co-operative game, based on the book Mio, min Mio (Mio, My Son in English) by Astrid Lindgren, a famous Swedish writer. . In the game each player takes a role of one of Mio's friends - the idea is that the players help Mio on his journey to the evil knight Kato and eventually defeat the knight. Each turn the active player moves the Mio token forward on the map, does two actions and finally checks if something bad happens, like the minions of Kato attack the players. . The game continues as such by the players taking turns until the Mio token gets to Kato's castle and a final fight between Kato and Mio starts. The longer it has taken for the players to get to the castle, the stronger the evil knight has become. The players win the game if they are able to defeat Kato before Mio loses all his courage. . Mio: Brädspelet is a very (and I mean *very*) basic co-op game. In my eyes it doesn't bring anything new to the table but I do appreciate it for how well it connects the theme (or in other words the book) to the game. And after all this game is in my collection mostly for the theme: Mio, min Mio was one of my favourite books back when I was a kid (and it's something I still enjoy a lot). I've also started to read out the book for my son which made playing this game even more enjoyable. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🎳 Wonder Bowling @itten_games 🎳 This is a funny dexterity game from Japan all about leaving one pin standing. In Wonder strike💥 is when only one pin remains, to do this you have to tap the box in just the right way. And to get a spare, you must have a certain number of pins remaining after your hit, as shown on your tiles in front of you. ✨️ I forget how I heard about this one, but I'm glad I did as this has now become my go-to small box dexterity board game. I'm also now very curious about Itten's other Funbrick series games. 👀 ✨️ What's your favorite dexterity game? Let us know down below! 💬

I've had a head ache for almost two days now.. Still I wanted to play something today but knew that I had no energy for someething longer or bigger so I pulled my copy of Cartographers: Heroes off of the shelf. . For the most part I don't take Cartographers as a game but more as a way to pass time (preferably with other players). I find it fascinating to create a map and come up with new ways to depict the different terrains and monsters in the game. Especially with other players I've had tons of fun while playing Cartographers - the cries of both happiness and despair when a new terrain card is flipped really make my day. . I've kept many of the filled maps in the box as sometimes it's fun to look at the old maps and try to memorize the situations when they were drawn. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Yet another solo play of Dune: Imperium - with both expansions, as always! . I just frigging love this game. Once again it offered new stuff. I think I've never before concentrated on the shipping track but now I wanted to use it as much as possible. My character worked preetty well for that as I always got some extra solari which I could then use for the ring ability (can't remember the correct name for that) and getting the third agent early in the game. . It all led to me crushing my rivals. I used the Sardaukar difficulty - it was nice to finally be able to win that way! 💥 Monster Expedition 💥 This fun drafting & push your luck game by @amigo_gamesus totally missed my radar, until the lovely @instagraymorgan + @terramarceramics showed it to me. Also, this game was designed by one of my all-time favorite designers Alexander Pfister. So it is no wonder after playing this for the first time I really enjoyed it! ⭐️ ✨️ In this game, you are hunting for monsters and must choose your expeditions wisely ... because if you don't, you might end up empty-handed! The game uses a fun combination of rolling dice plus push your luck. And as your acquire monsters, your ability to hunt new ones expands. 🏹 ✨️ I feel like this one could definitely be a strong gateway or filler game as it has a low barrier to entry. Plus, the art is very whimsical and almost nostalgic to me ... it reminds me of the old mythology books I use to read. 📚 ✨️ So, if you see this underrated little gem - I recommend checking it out! And let us know what your favorite push your luck games are? 🎲💬

Today I finally got The Hunger to the table! And yup, that's the name of the game, I don't think there were any hungry gamers at the table. But anyway, The Hunger is a combination of deck-building and set-collection with a bit of push-your-luck thrown in to the mix. . Players are vampires, hungry for blood. During the game you move your vampire on the board, hunt humans and try to get back to the castle before the dawn. . Every turn you draw three cards from your deck and play them. The numbers on the upper left corner tell you your speed which can then be used for both movement and hunting. Some of the cards give you also special powers and/or actions which for example can let you draw more cards or get more points from hunting. . Depending on the place you end your movement on you can get, once again, some special stuff (like new missions). After moving you can hunt (if you wish) and thus get points (when hunting humans - there are also other cards to add to your deck). The problem with hunting humans, though, is that they clog up your deck as they don't give you any movement speed when you draw them from your deck on another turn. Usually they also give you some sort of setbacks. . The game lasts exactly 15 rounds and you have to be back at the castle (or at least the cemetery right next to the castle) or otherwise you'll burn at the sunrise and end up with zero points. (And as you can guess, that's exactly what happened to me.) But if you do get back to the castle, you do the endgame scoring (mostly from different missions) and the player with the most points wins the game. . I liked The Hunger: it was a decent game with some nice twists. There could have been more player interaction and more possibilities to thin your deck, though. I also kinda got the feeling it would have worked better with 4 or 5 players (we had 3 players today). . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Island Siege (2nd Edition) is a fort-building and colonization game for 1-4 players. The 1st edition was only for two players so via the 2nd edition the player count is doubled. Also the expansions for the 1st edition are included in the 2nd edition. . The aim of the game is very simple: be the first one to have either 20 coins or your personal playerboard emptied of your colonists. If either of these goals is accomplished at the beginning of your turn, you win the game. . On your turn you first move one colonist from your playerboard to each of your forts that has at least one empty space. Then you either build a new fort, building or ship, draw new cards or attack another player. . Building new forts is free. You just play a fort from your hand to the table, get cubes from the general supply as marked on the fort and can also play other cubes from your personal supply to your fort. Each cube played to a fort from your personal supply gives you a coin. To build a building or ship you have to have at least as many colonists in a fort as the number on the building/ship card's upper left corner. When you build a ship or a building you move those colonists from the fort on to the newly built card and get the coins and other goodies as marked on the card. Forts, ships and buildings give you new powers and abilities. . When attacking another player you choose a fort you want to attack to, throw some dice and try to destroy the cubes on that fort. If you're able to destroy a fort, the owner of the fort loses the fort and all the buildings connected to it. While attacking you can also try to destroy your opponent's ships and try to collect new cubes to your own supply. . When you draw cards you draw three cards from the deck, choose two to keep and give one to another player. . After doing one action it's the next player's turn. And that's basically the game! You can check my thoughts in the comments.

🦑🌊 Oceans Legendary Edition 🌊🐙 This beautiful game by @northstargames was new to me, but also familiar as it builds off its predecessors Evolution/Evolution: Climate. And not to spoil my thoughts ... but I think this is easily my favorite of the Evolution series! ⭐️ ✨️ The core evolution style gameplay was great with the building of different seafaring species. You could make your species herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores while also adding some fun attack / defense type traits. 💢 ✨️ Where Oceans really takes things to the next level is with the Deep cards. These cards add game breaking abilities/traits that can start being added to species after enough food has been taken from the ocean. They are so much fun & each one is unique! ✨️ Our table had a blast creating wild combinations of species with some really fun chaining effects. After playing this, I don't think I could go back to Evolution as this one just rackets up the system a notch. Plus, Oceans doesn't feel as mean as Evolution and is ultimately much more forgiving. 👍 ✨️ What's your favorite game in the Evolution series? And let us know your thoughts in Oceans! 🐬

Sunday funday aka Easter Day games! . We started with Dodos Riding Dinos, a relatively quick racing game that reminds me a lot of Mario Kart. It worked well with four players even though I think it would be better with more players. And once again I was so amazed about the minis painted by @hartsa_maalaa . . After that we played Island Siege (Second Edition if that matters). It was actually a totally new game to me. I'll make a separate post about Island Siege soon so I can tell more about the game. But in advance I can tell you that I quite liked it! . We ended the game day (evening?) with Bunny Kingdom which fits pretty well for Easter holidays. I did quite badly in this playthrough, I wasn't even able to get over 100 points. But enjoyed the game in any case (as the cat enjoyed the box). . Thanks for hosting @janezky95 and Sanna, had a blast! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🚀 Gaia Project 🌌 It's not every day I get to play one of my all-time favorite board games! However, last week I finally got to get this phenomenal game back to the table at 4-players. This is one of the heaviest board games I own, but for some reason it just feels so seamless in its design. ✨️ Ever since I played Terra Mystica way back when I've been a fan of the series. Soon, I'll have to try Age of Innovation! However, it will be hard to beat Gaia Project for me as the tech board / factions in this one are just so much fun. ✨️ What's your favorite in the Terra Mystica line of games? And what is your favorite Gaia Project faction? Let me know down below! 💬

💥🛰 Lux Aterna 🚀👨‍🚀 This beautiful little solo game by @capstone_games & @frostedgames has quickly become a new favorite for me. Each game takes 15 minutes or less as you work to stabilize your spaceship in real-time from imminent demise. 🌌 ✨️ I've been on the hunt for some fun solo puzzle when I have downtime - so this one really hit the spot. My favorite part was the multi-use cards, if you know me you know I'm a sucker for multi-use cards 😄 These ones were great as you draw 4 (or 5 at times) and must assign them to the four spots, which all utilize the cards in different ways. ✨️ I will definitely be playing this one more and highly recommend it if you can find a copy! Question of the day: What are your favorite solo games? 💬

After almost a year of waiting we got Dune back to the table! . This time we replaced Spacing Guild and Emperor from the base game with Ixians and Tleilaxu from one of the expansions. We had two totally new players but also some more experienced players so wanted to spice things up (see the pun I did there?). . I just adore this game! It's a beast to teach but as you start playing it things get quite clear pretty quickly. I think I saw the most deals ever done in any of my plays of Dune during this playthrough which was great. At the same time I think there were the fewest battles during this playthrough which really made the game feel different (in a good way). Also leaving the Emperor and Spacing Guild out of the game was a good decision as I find them the most boring factions (at least of those I've seen played). . But my plans as Bene Gesserit didn't work out. For some reason I remembered my prediction wrongly and, foolish as I am, I didn't check it. I thought I had predicted Ixians to win on round five (which they did, by the way) but when I revealed my prediction it showed Tleilaxu winning on round 6. Oh well.. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Let's build a castle for the Mad King (not the one in the Game of Thrones lore, though)! . It had been years since my previous play of Castles of Mad King Ludwig. I can't remember when I had played it the previous time but it must have been something like over three years ago. What I do remember, though, is that back then the game was taught to me and there was something about the scoring that didn't feel right. And based on the play we had yesterday, we really didn't score the game correctly back in the day. . Castles of Mad King Ludwig is a quite enjoyable ride. In my eyes it's nothing special or extremely intriguing but I do like seeing strange castles being built. Some of the rooms are just ridiculous which makes the game have some funny moments, especially if players are stating out loud what's going on with their castles. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

As the Easter holidays are approaching it was more than appropiate to play Ierusalem: Anno Domini. . In Ierusalem: Anno Domini each player represents a community of followers of Jesus of Nazareth (lots of 'of's there..). Your aim is to place the followers of your community as close as possible to the seats of Jesus and his apostles at the Last Supper. . Basically it's a hand- and resource-management, worker-placement game. On your turn you play one of the five cards in your hand to your playerboard and activate the actions marked on it. The action in the upper left corner is a "so called" basic action which lets you collect resources or place your followers (meeples) to the resource collection areas. The actions at the bottom of the card let you do various things, such as listen to parables, do favours and (most importantly) place your followers to the Last Supper. . When you have three cards played in the right order on your playerboard you can also send an apostle to the Last Supper, choosing the place where they sit. After you've sent an apostle to the table you discard the cards used for that from your playerboard and get points as marked on the upper right corner on the cards. . Some of the cards have actions that move a so called Sanhendrin token forward which works also as a time marker for the game. When the Sanhendrin token is moved to the last step, the game ends immediately symbolizing the crucifixion of Jesus. After that you count the points (most of them coming from your followers placed at the Last Supper) and whoever has the most points wins the game. . I've now played Ierusalem: Anno Domini three times and I have to say I quite enjoy it. For some people the theme can be a bit repulsive but I don't mind it. You don't have to be a Christian to enjoy the game (none of the players today were) but knowing the stories about Jesus of Nazareth might make the game more approachable. And in my eyes the art looks gorgeous!

If I got introduced to Carcassonne as a totally new game today, I most likely wouldn't be that interested in it. It doesn't quite fit my taste mechanically anymore but I can't ignore its importance to me and my history with boardgames. . That's why I felt nostalgic earlier today when my son and I played a game of Carcassonne. To see the same excitement in my son's eyes that I think I had back in the day when pulling the next tile from the bag (or we had the tiles in stacks back then). . I've had lots of great moments with Carcassonne - even some core memories, one might say. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

One of the games I regret getting rid of: Pax Viking by @iongamedesign . . I've mentioned in numerous posts how I like (always) anything Viking. So when Pax Viking was published, it was an instant must-buy for me. What especially intrigued me in Pax Viking was the fact that it was more about exploration and trading than fighting and raiding (which is usually a big part of a Viking themed game). . It was also heartwarming to see a Viking themed game that relied on historical facts rather than myths and pop-cultural "I wish Vikings were something like this" stuff which is usually the case. Well, okay, there's nothing wrong with that, I for example enjoy Blood Rage a lot. But still there are lots of historical things that people get wrong in Viking themed games which has started to irritate me. . Unfortunately Pax Viking was too much for me back in 2020-21 and I sold it. Nowadays I think I could understand it a lot better and I even might buy it again for myself. There's also a game called Pax Viking Junior coming out (or is it out already?) later this year which I have my eyes fixed upon.. It might work well with my son. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Teenage Mutant Ninja Heroes themed Dice Masters - cowabunga! . Dice Masters is a quick and relatively easy dice game in which you start creating your own bag of special dice. Each turn you pull four dice out of your bag, roll them and use them to buy new dice, activate actions and/or attack your opponent (or their dice if they choose to block with them). Your aim is to reduce your opponents health to zero before they do it to you. . I really like the TMNT theme even though I'm not familiar with all of the available characters. Also the choice of using many different art styles on the cards is.. ahem.. a bit questionable but managable. And the rules in this version are extremely bad. Every time I play this I have to use BGG and/or Google to find answers to the questions that arise. Otherwise I do like the game, though. . I've been thinking of buying new sets for Dice Masters but I'm not sure where to start. Actually, I'm not even sure if they produce stuff for Dice Masters any longer. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Another play of MLEM: Space Agency with my son. . I have to say: I like this game all the time more. It's fairly quick to play but offers lots of excitement and fun moments. There's also even more to plan and think about that what I thought during my first few plays. Even on top of that the game looks great! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🎪🎡 Mysterium Park 🎠🎪 Mysterium & Mysterium Park are two of our favorite deduction games! The games are so easy to play but also challenging. I've never been good at either, however, I still really enjoy them. 😄 ✨️ This last time playing Mysterium Park, we played two game and narrowly lost both times. The beautiful card art really adds to the challenge but also makes the game so fun! Part of the great co-op nature of the game is figuring out how your friends like to give and receive clues. ✨️ What are your thoughts on Mysterium or Mysterium Park? My son got Pokemon Labyrinth as a birthday present a week ago and today we finally got it to the table. Or on the floor.. . Basically it's just a thematic version: it plays exactly the same as the original Labyrinth. Now you're just trying to find different pokemons with other pokemons. But to my eyes... oh, I mean my son's eyes, it looks more appealing this way. . What can I say.. It's a nice game. My son needs some guidance in seeing how moving the tiles can affect and change the available routes but otherwise it's a piece of cake to him. . We actually got it to the table twice today! Once at home and once at my girlfriend's place when her parents were visiting her for her birthday. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

When it comes to dice-placement and dice-management games, Circadians: First Light is high on my list. There's just something rewarding in thus game (even though I almost always lose it when I play it solo). . For me the biggest change between the first and the second edition, on top of the changes in the art, is the lenght: the game is one round shorter in the second edition. Okay, to be honest, I can't see why you couldn't play also the first edition with one less round.. Anyways, with just seven rounds the game becomes even tighter which is a great thing. . Today I concentrated a lot on improving my research base which is something I do very rarely. Well, it didn't bring me victory but it sure gave me some nice combos. After 30+ plays Circadians: First Light doesn't quite bring anything extremely new to the table from play to play but there's still always some little things that I enjoy finding. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

One cubes-on-a-map game that I especially like is The King is Dead. And to be more specific: the second edition (as I haven't played any other version of it). . I just seem to find this game intriguing. I really like the twist how you're trying to get the regions under the influence of the faction(s) you're strong with but at the same time you're basically making that faction (or those factions) weaker as you're removing that faction's cubes from the board. (I know, that might not make any sense to you if you're not familiar with this game.. So, sorry for that.) . My sweat spot with The King is Dead is to play it with three players. Then there's still room for strategy and tactical decisions but at the same time there's a little bit of chaos added to the game. With two players it works okay but it can be a bit dissappointing that way. . There's also an unofficial solo mode designed by Ricky Royal. You can find the rules for it on BGG and some how to play/playthrough videos on YouTube. I tried the solo mode today and, as expected, got my ass kicked pretty quickly. But it was nice to try the solo mode and most likely I'll try it again in the future! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Today it was time for the superheroes to visit the table as we pulled Marvel United off of the shelf! . My girlfriend chose Black Widow as her hero and I decided to try The Wasp as I hadn't played with her before. As the villain we chose Red Skull. . Even though Marvel United doesn't get to table that often, it's always a pleasure to play. It's a quick game, my plays have usually taken from 20-30 minutes, but it does serve a nice punch. There's always something happening, the turns go by quickly and there's still room for some planning and discussion. . There are lots (and I really mean LOTS) of expansions for Marvel United with which you can "spice up" the game as you want. I own the Rise of the Black Panther and Enter the Spider-Verse expansions. I bought the first mentioned because my son was interested in Black Panther at some point, and the latter because I've been a fan of Spider-Man as long as I can remember. . I don't have an urge to own any other expansions for Marvel United. Or actually, I would love to have the Return of the Sinister Six expansion but I'm not sure if it was something that was only available in Kickstarter. At least I haven't seen it in any boardgame shops here in Finland. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🍡🐋 Namiji 🎣🐟 We finally got to try this beautiful board game by @funforge ! This is one of the newest Tokaido system games, with the classic Tokaido point to point movement spaces. However, in this game you go fishing and sailing on the high seas. 🌊 ✨️ We also played with the expansion, which includes the whirlpool and additional creatures. I think this is a must-buy expansion if you enjoy this game as I can't forsee myself playing without it. 🦀 ✨️ I really loved this new Tokaido game as we had played the original so much and this one adds quite a bit. My favorite new aspects of this game were the fishing and crabbing actions! 🎣 ✨️ What's are your thoughts on Namiji and/or Tokaido? Let us know down below. 💬

Now I can say I'm extremely happy: I got an unopened copy of Shadows over Camelot in a trade! . I've been eyeing this game ever since I played it once while working in one of my previous workplaces. What I remember from that play is that it didn't go so well (I mean, I taught it to the other players and maayyybeee it was a too complicated game for them).. but still there was some kind of a spark left inside me after the playthrough. . What especially intrigues me in Shadows over Camelot is the theme. I find the stories about king Arthur and his knights interesting and fascinating - I do remember reading tales about the Knights of the Round Table back when I was a little kid. . I can't wait to get this to the table! . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Today we played Star Realms with many expansions. Don't even ask me how many or what expansions we had - I have no idea. . Star Realms is a very basic deck-building game but it does what it does very well. It's quick, there's a lot of room for combos and the rules are easy. . We played Star Realms three times in a row, each play with four players. I got my game going only in the last play but I still wasn't able to win it. But I enjoyed the plays and had fun with the game. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

Another (solo) play of Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux! . This one really ticks all the boxes on my list for a good solo game: 👉 the set up is quick: you can basically start playing in a couple of minutes 👉 there's a bot or a rival to "fight against": I don't like beat-your-own-score type of solo games or solo games like Friday in which you have to "survive" long enough to be able to "beat" the game 👉 the game flows well: my solo plays have lasted about 30 minutes per play and there's really no "idling" after you start playing 👉 the theme: I love (almost) everything Viking and this game's theme is no exception (even though you could really have another theme here, like building spaceships or growing plants) 👉 it offers meaningful decisions: what cards to draft and how to use them, how can I make good combos, should I concentrate on a certain thing <- it's all there! . All in all, I'm happy that I backed this game. My only complaint is that the box could perhaps be a smaller one (if the board was also smaller). I know that Garphills Games has been upgrading their game boxes for these bigger ones lately but I personally prefered the smaller boxes. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer

🍹🎳 Waterfall Park 🌊🎢 This new board game by @reposproduction is a reimplementation of an older classic Chinatown, but it is not a copy and paste retheme! Rather, this game takes the original formula and streamlines it while also upgrading the components to make this one inviting to new players. 🎡 ✨️ The soul of the Waterfall Park is trading, which is one of my favorite board game mechanisms. And I really enjoyed how the game allowed for almost any type of trade to occur! The table quickly lit up with trade offers and proposals as soon as we got our first cards and tiles. 💱 ✨️ Overall, I was really impressed by this reimplementation and think this will be my go-to trading game going forward. The game is impressive to look at, has so much pure trading fun, and plays in a breezy 30-45 minutes. 🔥👌 ✨️ What's your favorite trading board game? 🐑➡️🌾

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to watch Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two which inspired me to play a solo game of Dune: Imperium this morning. . Once again I played it with both expansions which, in my eyes, is the right way to play this game. It was a tight game the scores were 12-11-10 at the end of the game (me losing). . Once again Dune: Imperium offered me new experiences and situations. And I think I saw some cards I had never seen before even after 30 plays (of course my memory can serve me badly too)! . P.s. I really enjoyed Dune: Part Two. I loved the music and visuals but especially I was amazed by Austin Butler and Timothée Chalamet's acting. I was also a bit surprised by the humour that was sprinkled in to the movie as I haven't recognised it in the novel but I didn't see it as a bad thing. . #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamer #boardgamersofinstagram #boardgamephotos #boardgamecollection #boardgameaddict #boardgamegeek #bgg #tabletopgames #tabletopgamers #tabletop #lautapelit #lautapeli #brädspel #brettspiel #juegosdemesa #jeuxdesocieté #keltainennappula #theyellowmeeple #gamenight #boardgamereviewer
