We played some games today. Haven’t done that in a while. It was nice to not work the second job this weekend and have time to play. We played (all for the first time): 1. Let’s go to Japan - loved it. Much less difficult than anticipated and really fun. You basically draft cards and pick a couple to play and you’re trying to fill out an itinerary. Tons of different scoring options, so you’re really trying to control the placement of your cards as much as possible. 2. Catan Starfarers Duel - I think we both liked it. Wasn’t what we were expecting but we played the first tutorial game and I’d definitely play it again. It’s all about buying and selling resources and completing missions. There’s also a memorization aspect where you need to keep track of what sector had the planets you need to sell your goods to and complete the missions when you meet the requirements. 3. Star Wars Deckbuilding game - must READ ALL THE RULES. It is a great game but you must read the rules. We played this “30min” game for over 2 hours because we thought we had to destroy all the opponent’s bases, not just 3. So Chantilly would’ve won it within 45 minutes. Instead I caught up and it was neck and neck and I eeked out an illegitimate win. 4. Drags to Riches - either we were playing it wrong or the rules weren’t clear… this is a deck builder that seems to be strict about allowing you access to the cards you buy, thus leaving you stuck with crappy hands over and over. Also, ties in each event are broken by whoever has the 1st player token. So Chantilly was able to win every event we tied in because she was 1st player at the time. Pretty dumb in a 2 player game, probably ok with more players. In all the other events I was stuck with my starter cards because my good cards were in a pile I couldn’t access. There’s definitely a neat game here but next time we play we’re going to do like Clank and put the cards you buy into your discards. And find a better way to break ties. #Boardgames #보드게임 #어콰이어 #코리아보드게임즈 아이가 의자에서 일어나다 보드판을 툭하고 건든다. 그러자 중앙에 위치한 보드판 위 종이로 된 타일들이 테이블 아래로 이리저리 나풀대며 떨어진다. 아이의 외마디 비명과 함깨 아비의 탄식이 들린다. “아…” 아비는 아이에게 자리에 그대로 앉아 있으라 말한 후. 몸을 숙여 떨어진 타일들을 줍는다. “게임을 하는건지… 운동을 하는 건지..“ 아비의 투덜대는 소리. 아비가 계속해 불만을 토로해 보지만 변한건 없다. 아이의 작은 펄럭임에도 계속해 타일들의 위치가 변화한다. 사실 이런 일이 발생하게 된 근본적인 원인은 아이가 아니다. 무게감 없는 종이타일들과 낱장으로 흩날리는 주식 시세표. 이 게임은 그 어떤 게임보다 더 ‘조약하다’는 말이 어울렸다. “아빠… 나 이 게임 좋은데..” “나도 이 게임 좋아. 이 게임 좋다고… 그런데…“ 아이는 이 게임을 좋아했다. 아비도 이 게임이 싫지 않았다. 단지 아비가 마음에 들지 않아 했던 부분은 낮은 퀄리티의 컴포가 게임의 재미를 심할 정도로 반감시키고 있다는 사실이었다. “나중에 플라스틱 버전으로 나오면.. 그때. 그때 하자..” “언제 나오는데?” “모르지. 그래도 언젠가 나오긴 하지 않을까?” 아비는 이런 저런 핑계와 함께 이 게임을 하자는 아이의 요청을 최대한 피해다녔다. 언젠가 때가 되면 제대로 하겠다는 약속. 아비와 아이간의 기약없던 약속. 그렇게 4년이 지났다. ••••• [제 1 부] 신판의 이유 ••••• 올 것이 왔다! C'est un jeu style Magic the Gathering mais sans construction de deck. On a plutôt un deck aléatoire et les cartes sont toutes plus brisées les unes que les autres, mais deux fois par partie on peut utiliser un mindbug pour prendre le contrôle de la carte que l'adversaire vient de jouer. Il faut donc choisir judicieusement l'ordre dans lequel on joue nos cartes et quand utiliser ses mindbugs. C'est simple et rapide, mais il y a beaucoup de combos intéressants à découvrir. J'ai vraiment aimé. Ce jeu nous a été fourni par notre commanditaire, l'Odyssée - boutique de jeux 🇺🇲🇬🇧 A dueling game in which you summon creatures to attack the opponent and reduce them to 0 hit points before they do the same thing to you. It's a Magic the Gathering style game but without deck construction. You instead get a random deck and the cards are all broken in their own ways.The hook is twice per game you can use a mindbug to take control of the card that the opponent has just played. You must therefore choose wisely the order in which you play your cards and when to use your mindbugs. It's quick and easy, but there are lots of interesting combos to discover. I really liked it. We had a really nice weekend with lots of time with friends. After spending the morning at the park, the little bro came over to play games and have dinner. Our moms also joined us for some Korean beef tacos! I’ve been continuing to teach @ahachey101 the Stefan Feld collection of games, and today we played Merlin. He enjoyed this one and I was happy to pull it out, as it’s been a few years since I’ve gotten it to the table. I really love rondel games, and although this one is on the lighter side, it’s a lot of fun. Overall, Merlin falls somewhere in the middle for me on my list of Feld games. Some other rondel games I love are Heaven and Ale, Teotihuacan, and Navegador. Solo Sunday! After comping the editors of Fortune and Glory by @flyingfrogproductions I had to get it to@the table. Once again this is the ultimate Ameritrash game where anything can and does happen on your classic pulp adventure. Today I was playing true solo as Jenny Butler the Hollywood actress and competing against the Nazi vile organization. Well let’s just say it didn’t go so well for Jenny! I hadn’t lost that bad in a long time. One of those games where all my danger adventures led to cliff hangers and failures! Day 119 Game 119 - Maximum Apocalypse Designer: Mike Gnade Original Artwork: Gustav Rangmar Publisher: @rockmanorgames Maximum Apocalypse is a big, silly, cooperative game with striking artwork and a post-apocalyptic theme that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. The game plays very simply—choose your hero decks and one of several scenarios, set up the map, and you’re ready to go. It does take a little bit to set up, which is the biggest drawback, but once it’s set up, the game plays very smoothly. I love the variety in the game. All of the hero decks are thematic and play a bit differently. The monsters provide different levels of difficult—start off with the zombies, move up to aliens and robots, and then face off with Cthulhu. And those are just a few of the monsters. The maps is made of several tiles—each with different effects—and players must cross the map to meet certain objectives. Along the way, players work together to fight the monsters, scavenge map tiles for important items, and just try to survive. It’s a blast! I have the big box of Maximum Apocalypse with all of the stuff, and, well…it’s a lot. The new edition helps fix some of the issues like the long set-up time and makes it much easier to get to the table. It also adds things like tribes and exposure cards to make things more interesting. Who will survive unscathed?
