I really love the idea of doing a milkbath or bubblebath, or even smashing the cake on location after a family shoot! You know why? Because as adorable as those extravagant Pinterest setups may be, the truth is that babies truly thrive when they're surrounded by their parents in new environments. By starting with a family shoot, we can guarantee some amazing family photos, and anything we capture afterwards is just an added bonus. Plus, most babies haven't even been introduced to sweet treats yet! Those smash cakes are often "fake" anyway, with parents doing the smashing and just handing the little ones some cake pieces. I prefer a more natural approach, where we don't push babies into anything they're not comfortable with.❤️

Beach shoots in the Garden Route are absolutely amazing! They bring so much joy and excitement. Of course, there are a few challenges that come along with it, but nothing we can't handle, right? The sun sets SUPER late, especially during the summer season. So, the best time to do a family shoot on the beach is about an hour before sunset. 🌅 It can be a bit tricky to coordinate the perfect timing to capture the most beautiful portraits and ensure that our adorable toddlers are happy and cooperative. 😄 But hey, no worries! We're in luck because there are a few beaches in the Garden Route that receive less direct sunlight in the late afternoons. This means we can start shooting a bit earlier and avoid any total tired meltdowns from the little ones. ❤️
