Finally! The FJ is as Fancy as a 80s/90s Hilux😂 idle-up/ hand throttle mod done! I do have a throttle controller that has an idle up function.. but it always gives me issues, it'll work and then sometimes it won't and also on max setting it'll only bring idle up to just over 1200rpm. Another interesting find on the FJ today! Long story short, half way through the last Vic High Country trip, the FJ developed a slight knock/rattle in the steering. I wasn't to worried at the time as I just put it down to a worn rack end ect. Turns out the rack itself wasn't happy at all! (First vid) Lucky I was able to remove the rack guide and get some adjustment out of it. Day 5 recap! William Creek to Kingoonya via Coober Pedy Around 403kms. 164kms sealed and 240 unsealed. Again with the recent rains up here the roads are in pretty good condition as the have taken advantage of the moisture and graded alot of them. We had a very smooth day car wise and got to spend some time looking around Coober Pedy before hitting the black top and heading into Kingoonya. Which was actually a amazing stay and the owners of the pub and surrounding stations really turned it on for us. Day 6 recap! Kingoonya to Kimba Around 390kms and 100% unsealed roads. Was a fun days driving , with our group picking up the pace abit through the winding Mountain range roads and up past lake Gardner, which looked amazing full of water! Just before lake Gardner the car that had snapped the rear axle on day 3 decided that it was time to do it again. This time we decide to do road side bush mechanic fix and strapped,tapped and ziptied a solid bar across the axle, which got the car on the road again and made it into camp. We all had an amazing feed at the Kimba footy club and enjoyed a night back in civilization with a few drinks and alot of laughter. 🍻
Day 4 recap! Warning! Some pictures in this post my never be able to be unseen!⚠️⚠️ Arkaroola to William creek. Around 430kms 60% unsealed 40% sealed...but for us we would call it 95% sealed🤣🙈. We had one car kill a Lhf tyre within the first 20km and then another car kill a Lhf tyre in the last 20kms. But no big deal, we also added another chip to our windscreen 😂 Even though most the roads today where pretty easy going the veiws where amazing plus seeing lake Eyre with water in it was pretty awesome. Oh and it was partners choice dress up day! The only time in my life I have worn a dress, is the day I also have to change 2 tyres on the side of the road🙈🤣
Bit of a long post here as we have had no signal for the past few days. Silverton to Camerons corner, around 550kms and 100% unsealed roads. Very good run for the entire group with no issues at all, until one of the cars decided to drop it's gear Stick through the floor and onto the ground😂 but they still managed to roll into camp and we fixxed it up with some tech screws and strong glue. Oh and we got a small chip in the new windscreen 🙈 Day 3 recap! Cameron corner to Arkaroola. Around 420kms and another day of 100% unsealed roads. Today got a little my interesting, the same car that the gear Stick assy removed it's self from, decided that it would also completely snap the rear lazy axle in half, so on the trailer it went. Once at camp we got it all welded back together and plated ready for day 4. Everyone else had a smooth day.
