💖 April Goals Achieved 💖 Absolutely smashed my goals this month and I’m so chuffed! Considering I was also on holiday for 5 days so didn’t put my all into side hustling those days. I will do a post of my total for this month in a few days as we still have two to go!
💖 Time for a Catch Up 💖 I have a few things to catch up on on Insta so I’m just going to do a catch up post! 1. Weightloss Journey So the beginning of last week I didn’t weigh myself before we went on holiday. This was only because I forgot! I chose to not weigh myself today and there’s one very good reason for that. I went on holiday last week and it had breakfast and dinner included which was a buffet so of course I ate a whole ton of food. I know I’ve put on weight. I didn’t want to weigh myself this morning and feel bad about enjoying myself last week. So I’m back on track starting today and I will weigh myself again next week! 2. Paying off Debt We have sat down and know have a solid plan for paying off our debt. If all goes to plan we should have 3 debts payed off by the end of the year! My loan, PayPal and credit card 1 which is a total of £5639. That’s a third of our total debt. It’s made me so determined to hit my goals now! 3. April Goals It has been a roller coaster this month with if I’m going to hit my goals or not! I seem to be hitting big with casino but then have a fair few minus days. That’s the risk with casino though and I love it 😹. Today I have also started looking at extra places for horse racing and 2ups so I’m hoping to do well with those.
💖 Child Benefit 💖 Tomorrow we get my little one’s child benefit and this is the first month we have been able to split it between the different pots to benefit her. Starting this debt free journey has also encouraged us to finally come up with a proper budget, which means we don’t have to use the child benefit payment to top up food budget or petrol etc!

💖 Holiday Mode 💖 We are away for a break until Friday so I might be a little quiet here. I’m still going to try and do some matched betting to keep on track for my April Challenge. A little celebration because I’ve managed to save up spending money for this holiday when normally we would just shove everything onto a credit card and turn a blind eye ♥️
💖 Debt Update 💖 We have changed the order we are paying our debts off after a chat and deciding to pay our biggest monthly payment first. This is the one I was dreading. A grand total of £15,123.79. I sat down and worked out all our joint debts this evening. To be honest it’s not a huge amount more than I was expecting. I had estimated our debts to be around £12,000 - £13,000. Seeing it all written down has made it real that we actually owe this money. I’m not as upset as I thought I would be, it’s actually made me feel more determined than ever to pay this all off. Where did it all come from? Basically just us living above our means. We both are terrible for it we feel down or sad to buy ourselves something to cheer us up. I wish I could say the debt is because of something more substantial but it just isn’t. Some of the debt we have had for many years as well. I think one is from when I was 20-21! This list is also the order we plan to pay them off. There isn’t too much decision behind what order as they all have the same sort of interest but I wanted to start with a couple of small ones before we tackled the two big ones. We are hoping to pay them off through side hustles and just generally being better with money by budgeting and not splurging so often! Join me on this journey 💖
💖 Penny Saving Challenge 💖 I’m so proud of myself! I started this at the beginning of December last year and only 4 months later I’ve complete it! I rounded it up to £700 when I first started but I have some ended up with £722.52! The way I’m splitting it is: -£250 to debt repayment -£250 to the wedding fund -£200 to the emergency fund -£22.52 is going to go towards my hair and makeup cost for a wedding we have in May. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
💖 Change of Plan 💖 Today we sat down and had a rethink of our debt repayment plan. We were originally starting with one of my fiancé’s credit card but we have decided to instead overpay my loan. It’s the biggest monthly amount we pay for a debt at £291 and doesn’t end until next February. So the aim is to pay double the monthly payment every month to get it gone in half the time. Once we’ve paid it off the £291 will be going towards another debt but also saving for a car.
💖 Vinted 💖 I’ve been selling on and off on Vinted for a little while but this is the first month I’ve tried doing it properly. It forced me to sort out all my daughter’s old clothes and now I have over 100 listings on Vinted! It’s my only other side hustle at the moment and I’m doing pretty well on it. I did pay to have my wardrobe spotlighted though. I’m only going to have stuff up for a couple of months before I donate it or put it on marketplace as a bundle. I’m trying to have less clutter around the house as when I have a busy house it gives me a busy mind! 💖 Affordability Complaints Update 💖 5 complaints sent off and done today! We decided to do credit cards 1, 2 and 3, papal and the loan. In the meantime we have decided not to do any overpayments to these debts. This is because we want to find out the outcomes before paying above the minimum for these ones. However we are still putting money away in a pot to pay towards debt when the time comes. I’m feeling so positive about everything and I’m proud of myself for no longer burying my head in the sand. I went from February being my worst full month so far to my best month in March 💸 this was helped by Cheltenham Festival and last week I started opening a second set of accounts so I’ve done about 6 sign up offers 😍 Every month I withdraw £400-£450 to pay myself and keep the rest for my bank roll so I can place more bets. 💖 Affordability Complaints 💖 Top of my to do list for next week is send off affordability complaints for all our debts, loans and credit. I have done it before with a previous card that ended up going to the ombudsman and managed to get £350 back. It’s always worth a try. When the baby is in bed tomorrow I’m going to write all the emails out ready to send on Tuesday when my partner isn’t working. Getting anything back would be amazing and would go towards our debts 🤞🏻
I did a lot of signups at the end of Feb/beginning of March just so i could get them out of the way and be ready in time for Cheltenham and even though I didnt take up every single offer, as I was trying to manage my bankroll and not look like i was taking all the value away from the bookies, those accounts were swiftly closed with immediate effect. It was my first Cheltenham Festival this year. Funnily i started matched betting during Cheltenham week last year without realising it was Cheltenham week and as I was just inexperienced in matched betting and sticking with football, i didnt realise how much I could have made if I was aware of it all back then. Nevermind! 😳 This year, I was a bit more fully prepared I guess, but still, I was anxious about my exchanges being wiped out as I wouldn't have been able to redeposit until the 19th for the main one. (The festival ends on 15th) I was hoping to make at least £300 just in those 4 days, due to the hype of getting a lot of offers coming through during that week, but i didnt get as many offers come through as I had hoped. A lot of free bets, despite qualifying and being told I would have them during Cheltenham week/end of the day, weren't honoured at all. My first day was an absolute mare and I ended up losing more than I had made. Thankfully, the other days made up for it. I made a profit of £158.45 in those 4 days so just under £40 per day. I'm quite happy about it but still it could have been better if the free bets came through. 💖 April Goals 💖 1. Side Hustle £500 in April. I think this will be easily achievable. These funds will mainly come from Matched Betting and selling on Vinted. 2. Complete the Penny Saving Challenge I have about £90 left until I finish this challenge so I’ll put my side hustle money and a bit from pay checks towards it. 3. £500 Emergency Fund Same as the Penny Savings Challenge I’ll take money from side hustles to complete this. Only £130 away so definitely able to do this one.
💖 Emergency Fund 💖 Our goal for our emergency fund at the moment is £1000 by October which should be achievable for us. I’m going to start selling on Vinted again so anything made on there will go towards the goal. Also once my Penny Challenge is complete £200 of that will probably go towards it. In October my fiancé gets paid twice in one UC ‘period’ so we lose quite a bit of money there, so the £1000 should more than cover the loss. We got caught out in December with the same thing so we are making sure it doesn’t happen again!
💖 Savings Challenges 💖 1. Penny Savings Challenge I think everybody has done or is doing this one! I’m not doing it every day, just when ever I can I have been adding to it and it’s going really well! I started in December so I’m absolutely chuffed with 86% completed already. Instead of £667.95 I rounded it up to £700. When I’ve finished it half will go to debt and half to wedding 💒 2. Christmas Savings Challenge Last year I managed to save enough to fund half of our Christmas and half had to go on cards. I’m determined to fully fund it this year. I’m starting at £500 but hoping to have a bit more by the time Christmas comes. 3. 2024 Challenge Save £2024 in 2024! The aim for this one is obviously the end of the year however we are using the money from this challenge to pay the next instalment of the venue for our wedding which isn’t due until October 2025. We ideally would like this saved for and payed by the end of the year. These are my three main savings challenges but along side these I have other pots on my starling that we contribute to monthly.

💖 Credit Card Number 1 💖 The first card we will be paying off! We originally got this card as a balance transfer card. We transferred £2000 to it and if I’m honest forgot about it, apart from making the minimum payments every month. The 0% interest has run out and the APR is quite high on this one. I’m not completely sure what it is as it’s my partners card. Our aim is to have this one paid off in 6 months, so roughly £200 needs to be paid towards this card a month. This is completely achievable for us and I think we will be able to pay more to this!
💖 Today I added £130 to my Debt 💖 I’m a little disappointed to be making this post so early into my debt free journey but it was unavoidable unfortunately. I have wires on the backs of my teeth to help keep them straight and the bottom one broke last night. I was eating my dinner and something got stuck behind one end and pulled it free. So a quick trip to the dentist this morning and £130 later it was fixed. We didn’t have the money to pay for it so it had to go on a credit card. I guess the plus side was instead of getting too upset, it has made me even more determined to pay off our debt and create an emergency fund for issues like this!
💖 Matched Betting 💖 I’ve seen matched betting around for a while and know about it from my fiance. We started saving a little pot up for him to start doing it but one day I just said to him I’m going to start doing it! I found @oddsmonkey about a month ago and went for it! I have really enjoyed doing it and made a fair amount of profit so far. I have also joined the discourse from @backyourselfbetting and it has definitely helped with earning more. I do a little bit of casino as well but not as much as I do betting. I started with £450 so plenty to kick start my earning potentials. Our plan for any profits is to split it in half. 50% for wedding and 50% for debt!

💖 Long Term Goals 💖 For these goals I don’t really have a specific time frame. My wedding is the end of 2026 so I would say maybe 2 years or just over. 1. I think everyone’s dream and goal is to become debt free if they have any. I don’t even know how much money we pay to debt each month and I really don’t want to know! I guess part of this journey is finding out some things that might make me feel a bit crappy 😂. 2. My wedding! I am so excited for this day and I want it to be everything we have ever wanted. I’m determined to not cut back on anything and to not go into debt for it. This is one of the reasons we booked it so far away. 3. At the moment this goal is mainly just building up an emergency fund. The meaning of ‘saving for our future’ will definitely change quite a bit over the next few years I think.

For a short month, matched betting felt pretty slow. Alot of regular offers were pulled which I suspect is in prep of the Cheltenham festival in mid March. Fingers crossed they'll be resurrected shortly afterwards. Lots of sites were temporarily down due to upgrades and reverification just took absolutely aaaaages so missed out on some good offers. I also had to wait till I could redeposit at the exchanges so couldn't take up as many of the available offers that I would have liked to as I couldn't take on the liability.
