Coming to the end of the season and itβs been a brilliant year. One of my goals for 2023 was to get into the advance group and I managed that at Donington. It was intimidating at first but I kept the pace and even passed a number of 1L bikes which put a big smile on my face. Next year il definitely get some 1:1 coaching and see if I can up the pace. What a weekend, three days at @doningtonpark and @malloryparkcircuit with a round of golf in between. The best day was Mallory, being new to the sport Iβve lacked confidence overtaking at speed and out braking people into corners. But the instructors at @nolimitstrackdays were brilliant and explained how to carry the momentum to get past other riders. After that I found my lap times really came down. Took the Aprilia rs250 out for its maydern voyage today on a track day with @nolimitstrackdays @malloryparkcircuit . Absolutely over the moon with how it performed, 1.5 years of hard work building her up slowly has paid off! . Considering the rear shock is bog standard and the forks are made for a 03 zx6, it handled surprisingly well, other than tearing up the rear tyre and the back wallowing like a hipo round the corners...... π¦ . Well after knacking my knee and then getting the Rona. I've Finally managed to get the my @maxton_suspension shock fitted, along with the forks they've done for me. To say I'm impressed is an understatement, the bike is now transformed. Sunday evening workaround tech tip! After trying all the normal tricks with compressing the fork, impact gun etc etc, the fork damper tube bolt did not want to come loose , just spun the damper in the tube. The top of the damper had a hole through it as most do, so to grab it, I found a socket that fit a big Easy-out(left hand thread so tightens itself as you turn ccw...added a few extensions, then ground a piece of round stock square on one side to fit into the extension and basically just a sharp blade on the other side. Install the contraption in the fork with the Easy-out inserted into the top of the damper tube a screw on the aluminum fork cap...then ratchet strap the fork to compress and press the ground blade into the aluminum cap from below to keep it from spinning...very carefully unscrew the bolt from below. Both came out as planned with evidence of lots of thread sealant/locktite on the bolt. I think Iβll modify the damper tube with some sort of receiver to make it easier next time. These are early 70s REH forks(Ceriani copies from UK) that were upgraded in the 90s by #maxtonengineering for a road race #Dresda #roadracing #norway #instamachinist #triton #dresdamotorcycles

My #gsxr750 had been ridden hard and needed some TLC before going on the track. - Switched out the previous owners after market fairings for track #ryuyo copies by @motoxpricambi_italia - OEM shocks switch to @maxton_suspension - Replaced the deafening SC Project exhaust with an @akrapovic - Dyno, ECU map, engine overhaul and electrical faults were fettled by MSG near Oxford - @bridgestonetires R11s via @fwrltd - @didchain , @renthal_moto sprocket , @knfilters , stubby leavers to full length @asvinventions , replaced anodised bolts with @proboltuk fixings - General routine maintenance and a good friend match the tank paintwork to my fairings. Unfortunately race 2 and 3 didn't go to plan on Monday @cadwellpark_msv . Race 2 was a DNF due to an exhaust issue so had to pull off π¨ . Race 3 was going well until a big highside out of the chicane before the mountain, resulting in a broken hand and a fair bit of damage to the bike πππ pics of the bike to follow later today . The @mjb_racing_products leathers held up to the punishment and the @helite.official airbag vest surely saved me from more serious injuries . Time to get on to @late_breakers For parts to get it back out on track!! . May or may not be able to make round 3 @malloryparkcircuit Will have to play it by ear and see how quick I heal . Please share π . 2019 season ended with the pre-injection, steel frame and newcomers championship titles with PDMCC @3sisterscircuit on the trusty steelie πππ . 2020 ended with a 3rd place overall in the pre-national sport 600 with @thundersportgb after a short but sweet seasons racing at some new circuits, with a new club, in a new class and on a new bike, the Daytona 675!π . 2021 will see me moving up to 600 Sportsman with ThundersportGB !! This will be a whole new challenge, moving up to a faster class and racing at some tracks that I have never been to before, or only once or twice, but I do love a challenge.π€πͺ . The #daytona675 will be having a full strip, clean and freshen up for next year with new fairings and paintwork or wrap so it looks its best for the start of the seasonππ . Racing isn't a cheap hobby to have, but I do my best to fund everything as its my passion.π°π°π° Help is always welcome and any support is always much appreciated, be it by buying a name sticker for my helmet, or discount or free consumables for racing as it all goes a long way towards entries, tyres, travel costs, fuel and other consumables. What an absolutely crazy weekend @cadwellpark_msv with @thundersportgb for the final round of the Pre-National 600 championship. . A weekend of highs and lows . Friday practice saw some good lap times but unfortunately managed to highside round hall bends. Bike was fixed up and ready to go for the session after. First time wearing and crash testing the helite airbag vest which performed faultlessly with no injuries at all! Not even whiplash. . Qualifying came round Saturday morning and I managed to put the 675 in 2nd. . First race Saturday went really well bagging 2nd place . Race 2 Saturday, started dry but started to shower, having a front wet meant I could keep the pace and move into 1st, first time leading a race with TSGB, but the rear dry let me down at park causing a big highside which lead to me being transported to the med centre in an ambulance. Red flag and DNF for me. Having tested the helite vest for a second time in 1 weekend, I can say this thing saved some serious injuries, managing to hobble away after being passed fit to ride with only a bruised foot. DNF left me in third place in the championship. . Saturday night was taken up patching my bike back together to pass scrutineering the next day to defend 3rd place and try and go after 2nd again. Managed to get her race ready for Sunday morning, passing scrutineering and going out for a very steady and cautious practice. . Race 1 Sunday, on a drying track it was decided to go for a wet front dry rear, good choice as when it dried more I had the better grip. Felt a bit shaken going into that race after the crash but when the lights go out, race face! Kept plugging away and managed to take the win! A welcome confidence boost after the crash . Race 2 Sunday, dry and a bit windy. Amazing race with some good battles throughout which was epic, managed to take 2nd leaving me just shy of taking back 2nd in the championship. However I'm over the moon finishing 3rd overall! Time to fix the bike up over winter to start again in 2021!
