Metal de Facto, ‘Land of the Rising Sun - Part 1’ Power Metal from Finland Released on February 9th, 2024, via Rockshots Records @rockshotsrecords This album, woooah! What a sonic storm of Power Metal! It has all the elements that make this genre so enjoyable, so if you want a good time listening to Power Metal go for it, I highly recommend it! The music is so intense, uplifting and well played… How could I not love them? These are the musicians behind the music: Esa Orjatsalo @eorjatsalo and Mikko Salovaara @mikko_salovaara - the two amazing guitarists, they bring the riffs, the leads and the melodies in a spectacular way. Sami Hinkka @sami_hinkka_official - responsible for the lower notes with his powerful bass. Aitor Arrastia @aitorarrastia - taking your breath away with his melodic and high-pitched vocals. Atte Marttinen @attemarttinen - his thunderous blasts and fast feet brings the high speed (and also some fire!) to the songs. Benji Connelly @benji_klintconnelly - his fingers run fast and precise all over his keyboards, he offers a fantastic dreamlike wrap to the melodies. For those of you who don’t know, Metal de Facto @metaldefacto was formed in 2017, and its lineup has been the same since then, with the exception of the vocalist. In their debut album, “Imperium Romanum” it was Mikael Salo @mikaelsalo_official in charge of the vocal duties. For “Land of the Rising Sun - Part 1” the band has Aitor Arrastia doing this task. Both of them have beautiful, strong and powerful voices, that’s why this band has stolen my heart. This album starts with “Rise Amaterasu” (Amaterasu is the Goddess of the Sun in Japanese mythology) and it’s a great opener; it has all the power and uplifting vibes with the fantasy keyboards, the drums blasting at a good speed, Aitor screaming some really high-pitched notes (and singing with one of the most beautiful and melodic voices I’ve listened to lately), a great work done by the string triplet (fantastic melodies, a great solo, an audible and vibrating bass)... what else do you want? The gigs have started coming and they don’t stop coming (see what I did there), and I can’t keep up with posting everything, so here’s a brief summary of the latest ones... excluding U.D.O., because that stuff deserves its own post if not two! 8.2. The Empire Strikes — On the Rocks, Helsinki 9.2. Metal De Facto — Yo-talo, Tampere 10.2. Bloodred Hourglass — Kantakrouvi, Oulu I literally knew only one song from The Empire Strikes before the gig. Yes, the one that sounds exactly like By the Grace of God by The Hellacopters, as you can hear. Turned out each and every song sounded like something very familiar, but it was a ton of fun and they were an amazing live band! Definitely one of the best gigs of the year so far. I became a fan instantly! Metal De Facto played two gigs that weekend, and coincidentally I was in Oulu while they were in Helsinki. I knew @eorjatsalo would never forgive me if I didn’t show up to any of the gigs, so I made my way to Tampere. Was fun to see them headlining for the first time with the new singer, who is doing an amazing job by the way! The new album was released on the same day and I had only chance to listen to it only once before the gig, but luckily my favourite track Tame the Steel was one of the singles and I must have blasted it around 30 times already. The gig was awesome and it’s always fun to see my friends on stage and catch up with them. BRHG in Oulu was probably one of the best gigs I’ve seen from them even if they seemed to have a surprising amount of technical issues. The same setlist as before, nothing super special, except the audience who were crazy! I guess people in Oulu have so little gigs that when they have one they go like their life depends on it. The weekend was quite a handful to recover from, but definitely worth all the travel and lack of sleep 😅 Also, if you’ve ever considered getting one of those black privacy screen covers, I can tell you it is the absolute worst when trying to take photos unless you wanna hold your phone up to your eyes 🫠
