Landmarks On The Road To Ruin is in post-production with the Spenser Morris (SMAudio) who has worked with artists such as @saormusic & @thetruepanopticon I sought after his services after considering his amazing work remastering Saor’s earlier albums (Aura, Guardians) whose original releases I felt were marred by their production quality. To say the least, I was extremely impressed with how well he was able to bring those albums to a cleaner and more polished finish they deserve. With so many moving parts to consider on the record, he is the man for the job. For now, I can rest my arms and enjoy the sunshine for a short time before it’s time to get to work on the next record. 17 años ya! 🎂 El pasado 27 de Abril, pero de 2007 @ensiferummetal lanzaba su 3er album de estudio a través de @spinefarmrecords . Este sería el primer álbum de Ensiferum con los nuevos miembros Petri Lindroos, Sami Hinkka y Janne Parviainen, y el último que incluiría a Meiju Enho., los nuevos Ensiferum presentan sus credenciales a golpe de canciones de victoria, un trabajo sobre todo directo y muy fácil y además agradable de escuchar. A nivel musical, y para regocijo de muchos entre los que yo mismo me incluyo, “Victory Songs” escapa en buena parte de la dirección musical que tomó “Iron” primero, y el EP “Dragonheads” después, para volver al puro sonido de los primeros Ensiferum que cautivasen a propios y extraños con temazos hímnicos como “Hero In A Dream”, “Guardians Of Fate” o “Battle Song”. Además, a nivel de romper todo, “Victory Songs” es por momentos lo más salvaje que jamás hayan editado, sin olvidar ni dejar de lado ni mucho menos aquellas melodías tan ‘viking’ que acompañaban tempos aceleradísimos y que hacían de cada tema un himno vibrante de los que ponen los pelos como escarpias. In the distant 2007, "Lamentos A Poema Muerto" of Uaral became an ending point in creative work of Aciago and Caudal who glorified solitude, eternal beauty of virgin nature and inner torment for near a decade. The album contains 7 tracks that represent the best musical efforts from early demos honed to perfection. In this 2nd [and the last] full-length, the Chilean duo as true philosophers or soul researchers discloses the concept of sorrow in its entirety. Very minimal drums and asceticism in electricity only do honor to this album. The classic guitar, paying homage to Latin cultural legacy, serves as the distinct voice in the polylogue of clean singing, growling and real lamentation. And resembles the narrator of sad poem at the same time. Eventually, minor audio panorama learned from melodic Doom Metal is finely set to acoustic work that moves listener to experience a range of emotions. And despair, longing, anguish, hopelessness, or even bereavement as personal trials are probably the key to cognise the main purpose of this album. After 10 years from the CD release date, all the composing beauty and maximal naturalness of "Lamentos A Poema Muerto" were brought to life in vinyl format by Lost Horizon Records. 🎼 El pasado 23 de abril se desarrolló en Palermo Groove el Icarus Music Fest. Un evento con un line up muy potente a nivel musical. 💪🏻 🎻 Allí se pudo apreciar una propuesta variada: In Extremo nos trajo su característico Folk Metal; Battle Beast brilló con su indumentarias y su propuesta de Heavy Power Metal; y Amorphis tiró abajo el recinto con sus sonido Doom con toques de Death Metal. Credito aparte también para los locales In Element, que abrieron la noche y dejaron al público encendido y listo para lo que se venía. 🎸 🎵 Esta edición del Icarus Music Fest tuvo muchísimos condimentos. My first exposure to Italy's "Dwarven metal" band Wind Rose was their reimagining of the Minecraft meme inspired "Diggy Diggy Hole." Their latest album, "Warfront" (2022), is less whimsical and delivers folk-tinged mid-tempo symphonic power metal in triumphant fashion. It is never super flashy, instead opting for incredible execution, dynamic contrast, and an epic feel. Lead vocalist Francesco Cavalieri is excellent and is regularly joined by other bandmates to create a dwarven choir sound that really adds to the atmosphere. The medieval symphonics complement the guitars, drums, and keys well, with excellent melodies that are super singable. The lyrics are well constructed and will inspire your desire to be part of an army of dwarves marching into battle! The first track sets the medieval mood flowing into the fabulous "Army of Stone," where great melodies abound over mid-tempo folksy power metal that is sure to get your head bobbing. "Tales of War" is my favorite track, from the cool symphonic opening, to catchy melodies in the verses and a big majestic chorus, all on top of pounding drums and driving guitars. "Fellows of the Hammer" has an infectious singalong chorus, and the moody dwarf choir section late in the song is so cool. "Together We Rise" has great build-up to killer epic verses, and I love the Dwarven gang vocals! "Gates of Ekrund" has phenomenal vocal melodies and song construction, great dynamic contrast and orchestration, and a story inspiring Dwarven comradery. "One Last Day" is big and epic with a triumphant chorus. "Battle of the Five Armies" does a great job painting a musical soundscape of The Hobbit's climax. "I Am the Mountain" is pure Tolkien symphonic metal, bombastically cinematic and majestic. "Tomorrow Has Come" makes you feel like you are just singing around the fire. It has a beautiful acoustic folksy feel that builds to a grandiose finish, closing out an incredible album. I love the direction and am excited to see them live tonight! Quien me conoce sabe que uno de mis géneros favoritos es el Folk metal, música de un tiempo pretérito adaptado a nuestra era. Instrumentos tradicionales como gaitas, flautas, zanfonas o violines se fusionan en deliciosa simbiosis con instrumentos más actuales como guitarras eléctricas, bajos y baterías, de cuya perfecta fusión nacen ritmos salvajes que sacan nuestro guerrero interior, emocionantes melodías que nos arrancan lágrimas, alegres o tristes, o juguetones compases que nos incitan a bailar aun sin fuerzas. Son muchos los grupos que me generan toda esta vorágine de sentimientos, pero hoy quiero homenajear a uno en especial, @salduieofficial , formación originaria de Zaragoza, mágica tierra que sin duda les ha influido a la hora de componer sus canciones, marcadas por una intensa temática histórica sobre las culturas prerrománicas de la península. Es normal en estos tiempos que corren solo mirar hacia delante, sin mirar la tierra que pisamos, y eso es lo que hace este grupo, recordarnos que antes que nosotros otros pisaron esa tierra, las bellas historias que sostuvo, o las cruentas guerras que soportó y forjaron lo que somos ahora. Aunque para este dibujo me he inspirado en la portada de su disco Viros Veramos, mi favorito, hay una canción a la que le tengo especial cariño, y es Numancia. Recuerdo perfectamente el día que buscando nuevos grupos por youtube, hará como 9 años, me encontré con el lyric video de esa canción. Fue nada más escuchar los primeros acordes, cuando fui consciente de que estaba ante un grupo que me iba a encantar. Esa canción me abrió nuevos horizontes, pues llevaba pocos años en el mundo del metal, y menos escuchando folk metal, y fue uno de los grupos que tocaron una fibra que me lanzó en busca de grupos similares.
