Murphy Monday: Goin’ and Doin’ BOTH of my peoples were able to do an event with me this weekend. We went to da bookstore and met all kinds of readers. 🐶🖤🐶🖤🐶 ‘It’s Murphy Monday!’ This little monkey hasn’t had a good week, he’s been in the dog house more than once! 🫣 On Thursday we were walking in the woods in one of our favourite spots, when he disappeared for about six minutes, six minutes which felt to me like six hours! We’re used to him running off and enjoying himself and we use a whistle for recall. That, with a few tasty treats always does the trick and he returns straight away, but not this time. I was blowing on the whistle and shouting his name until I ran out of puff. If anyone heard me they’d have thought I was a crazy lady! 😂 Then in the distance, across the stream and up on the edge of a field, I could see three deer peering down at me, which were obviously the attraction. Anyway, thankfully, Murphy appeared looking rather sweaty and dribbling at the mouth, he’d definitely had the best time. Then yesterday morning, I stupidly walked in the same area and the whole saga happened all over again, but this time he was longer before he returned. When he eventually reappeared I attempted to put him on his lead, but the little monkey immediately knew what I was about to do and promptly made a dash for it for another five minutes! Later in the day we walked in a totally different area and he behaved perfectly, so I think those poor deer are the cause. Put it this way, I bet they’re trying to find somewhere different to hang out after two episodes with Murphy! Our heat stopped working on Friday and Meowmy had to wait up during the day for it to get fixed. The kitties were crazy when Meowmy tried to put them in the bedroom together so they wouldn't be in the way. Murphy refused to go in there twice, so he stayed out of the room and hid. Somehow Little Mac also got out because we have old doors that don't actually shut and he ran past the guy down into the basement like a crazy boy! 🐶🖤🐶🖤🐶 ‘It’s Murphy Monday!’ On Saturday, when we had that strange weather (we had sunshine and blue skies 😂), we did a bit of work on our little pond. You might remember that we’ve had problems with our pond leaking, so it was out of action for most of last year. After various attempts of trying to locate the leak and then fix it, we ‘think’ it’s ready to go again. So, the ‘man who can’ ……. (Well I hope he can fix a leak 🤦♀️), ……. has decided it’s going to be a wildlife pond going forward and he seems to have a clear vision of how he wants it to look and it includes logs to give it that rustic feel. Well as soon as he enlightened me on this ‘design’, ‘look’, whatever you want to call it, I too had a vision which involved Murphy! 🤦♀️😂 Well come on, you all know that Murphy is the king of the sticks …. I mean logs, so this was bound to end in tears and I don’t mean for Murphy! 🫣🤣 As soon as his back was turned, Murphy headed straight for the carefully laid logs, and tried to sharpen his teeth on them. The logs were found in the woods and brought home without the help of Murphy, so of course he was bound to be interested and of course they were going to be an easy ‘chew’. I have to say that he did well balancing on the logs though, one wrong move from one of his paws and he would have been the wildlife in the pond! 🤣 I tried my best to stop him, but he was so in his ‘stick zone’ that I had to resort to sausages to get his attention. So round to the front garden he was taken, a quick brush up to hide the evidence and no one else was the wiser. I wonder how long I can keep that up for? 🤔🤣 Happy Murphy Monday everyone. 😀 P.S. I’ve just had a thought …. can you imagine if the wildlife does move in? 🐶🖤🐶🖤🐶 ‘It’s Murphy Monday!’ “Well where’s Murphy?” I can hear you saying. He’s here, don’t worry, I’m just setting the scene! ⬅️😀 Last Sunday, I spent a lovely afternoon with Max. We played in the field at the side of the cottage and went on an adventure to the little stream that runs along the edge. The intention was to play ‘pooh sticks’ …… but sadly, Murphy had other ideas! 🤦♀️🐶 Now we all know that Murphy loves a good stick, but it turns out that he’s not very good at sharing them, much to Max’s dismay! As soon as I’d found a good stick for Max to play with, then Murphy would spring into action and not only take it, but chomp it to bits too. The same happened when Mummy wanted to take a pic of Granny and Max for the family album, Murphy not only photo bombed the majority of the photos, but grabbed the best stick that Max had found and off he ran. 🧒🏼 “Granny, next time we play, can Murphy stay in the house?” 👵 “Yes Max, Granny was a bit silly, thinking he would play nicely” 🤦♀️ The ‘Max & Murphy’ friendship was certainly tested that day I can tell you! 😬😂 (A few more pics on ‘My Story’) Have a lovely Monday everyone. 😀 PS. Murphy Monday: Gotcha Day! 1 year ago, I was in a sweet little rescue in SW Ohio waiting on someone to give me a good life. My dad wanted a Mastiff, but my momma insisted that it must be a rescue. Good thing, too, because I needed a family to love me. I originally came from a puppy mill and then belonged to an older man. He wasn’t able to keep me due to some physical issues so he compassionately surrendered me to Crooker’s Critters. So my momma found me on PetFinder.com and started the adoption process. My people drove 8+ hours in a windstorm to get me. I was so good on the ride back to Alabama, they couldn’t believe that I could ride so long without making a peep. After getting to know my new people and the pet posse, they decided that I had something special and started doing some training with me. After 2 training programs, several specialized workshops, and a practical exam to become certified with Hand in Paw animal assisted therapy, I now share my love with local assisted livings, business wellness events, police stations, and schools. I don’t mean to brag, but my dad and I were made for this. We love it, and we bring so much comfort and joy where we go! A year ago, I was unwanted. 🖤🐶🖤🐶🖤 ‘It’s Murphy Monday!’ Murphy on alert mode …… always watching, always listening, always ready to set chase. He actually had his eye on our chickens, which he knows are a ‘no go’! 🤭 We’ve had a steady few days after his trip to the seaside last weekend. He did surprise me the other day though, I saw a side of Murphy which I’d never seen before. He’d found another turnip in the fields near to the woods. It was complete with its green leaves and he was very proud of his find, running around with it in his mouth for most of our walk. He had a great time until he met a dog which he’d never met before. Murphy hasn’t a confrontational bone in his body, but then again, he’d never had a turnip to protect before. Unfortunately the new acquaintance decided he wanted some of Murphy’s turnip and wasn’t very friendly towards poor Murphy. Normally at this point Murphy would surrender quietly and roll on his back with all paws in the air, ‘submissive’ is his second name, but not this time. He decided to stand up for himself, his turnip obviously meant a lot to him. Murphy Monday: Hunk, a Hunk of Burning Love One of the most frequent questions my peoples get is how much do I weigh? 🧐 This week I had my wellness exam at @wellbeingvet and got a current weight. I am currently tipping the scales at 159 lbs and may put on a little more still. I am taller than your average Mastiff, so I am on the leaner side of what most Mastiffs look like. My peoples really want to keep me trim so my spine and joints handle the load well. Even though I am 159 lbs, I am 100% all love. Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day. Murphy Monday: Murphy’s Big Adventure I am trying to visit as many different types of organizations as I can to determine what visits I like to do best. This week I visited the Teacher De-stress event at Crestline Elementary School. 📓 Lots of people ask to get their 📸 made with me so I did that as well as received lots of pets and hugs during the teachers’ lunch break. I had a mess of kids pat me on my head as they lined up for lunch.
