One of my favourite walks of the year & generally a sign of the arrival of Spring. 272 bus from the end of the road & out to Castleton. Then choose your route home. Yesterday was route 101, simply follow the tracks back from Castleton, picking up the Noe & Derwent rivers at Brough & following it beyond Leadmill Bridge before heading up to Fox House via Grindleford Station & the ever beautiful Padley Gorge. Then heading over to Ringinglow on the Roman Road before dropping in @theitchypigbannercross for a couple of well earned (& much needed) pints - just shy of 16 miles in total (& feeling it in my legs). Lots of PNFS signs but no new ones on the walk. It really is a lovely walk & particularly lovely on a spring day with enough warmth to walk in shorts. The birds were singing, flowers & wild garlic starting to bloom, lambs being very cute & the noise of the river while we ambled along was very relaxing. Wonderful despite it effectively being the last day of my holiday 😞 But never mind it has been a really relaxing break & May Spring Bank isn't too far away now either.
