Meet Joshua McCoury, executive chef turned business student and a member of the OCC #classof2024. During the pandemic, Josh heard about Michigan Reconnect and decided to make the change he'd always dreamed of. He made the adjustments and figured out remote learning, and now he's graduating in May and transferring to Wayne State University to study global supply chain management. #OCCGrad2024
While we prepare to recognize all of our OCC graduates next month, we were deeply honored to celebrate this one early. Brittany Naylor is a resilient, determined and truly inspiring student. She refused to let a nine-year battle with cancer stand in the way of graduating from college - and not only did she graduate, she earned TWO degrees! 🎓🎓 Chancellor Provenzano and one of Brittany's favorite instructors, Michele Kuzila, recently attended a graduation party hosted by Brittany's care team and Hospice of Michigan. Brittany was presented with associate degrees in Criminal Justice and General Studies as well as OCC's Outstanding Student Award. Stories like Brittany's remind us what an honor it is to serve and celebrate our students every day. I’m happy to announce that I will be graduating this May with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Orange Coast College – and I will transfer to a four-year university this fall. First, I graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 2020, and now four years later, I’m about to be an official graduate from the excellent Orange Coast College. It was a lot of fun being an OCC pirate, taking classes in Public Speaking, Argumentation, Spanish, Psychology, and American Government.
