We make these posts about fishing; an activity that we are fortunate enough to get to do for a living. In peak season, we grumble because were tired, hot, and probably a little hungry. Then the off season comes and we grumble about not fishing. Then, there are fishing trips like this one. We're excited when someone books an offshore trip in the winter months. Some say that the only good catch is closer in or much further out. That isn’t always true. But this trip wasn't just about the fish. This trip was about two brothers spending as much time together as they can. It was about a man, who wanted to enjoy things with his brother that will leave memories. That's really what we do. We help people make memories. And it gets us in the feels every time. These brothers are traditionally bass and trout fishermen. Capts Aaron and James had the pleasure of taking them to see the beauty of the blue water and fight fish bigger than they'd experienced yet. March 25 - 3 groups competed for a spot on the board! The Senters hadn't used all their tags, so Grandpa changed his flight home to get one more fishing trip in. He didn't know that he'd take 2 spots on the board! One of the Bhagat brothers hooked a nice state water Red Snapper and added to the board! The Thompson family didn't make the board, but they had a fantastic trip. It was their first time offshore fishing, no one got seasick, and the kids had a great time! Win! Notice the paint on the shark? If you've never caught a shark and/or felt their skin, it's soft one direction and luke sandpaper the other direction. We were fortunate that this trip made it. It was an open boat with three groups of two people. The traffic backup that day was an hour due to so many people trying to access the beach (Independence Day holiday visitors). Everyone was late except the boat! If you've ever questioned if October fishing 🦈 is any good, here's your answer. Any time someone calls to ask, I always tell them that October is 💯 our Captains' preference. We're finally getting to fish our additional Red Snapper dates after the last week of wind keeping us off the water. Captains Marshall and Rodney made a meat haul to put some other trips to shame! There was no more room in a fish box on Killing Time today. If you look closely, they caught and kept 7️⃣ species, and released a mess of Lane Snapper. Captain Matt and David also made meat haul on a shorter trip on Hitch Life with 6️⃣0️⃣ beeliners along with limits of Kings and Red Snapper. Catch and release of Lane Snappers on this boat too! New PB (almost 40in) & my first drum 🥲 Took me about 4 mins and that felt like the longggggest 4 mins in my life. My arms were jello after and I couldn’t even feel my hands anymore towards the end. Our guide and my dad had to help me a little, but I did itttt 💪🏽🎣 and I had the best hype team 🤣 We woke up 4am to drive to Freeport,TX and depart from there into the Gulf of Mexico 3 miles out and our charter, Oilfield Outkasts, put us on some monsters and we did dat!! Originally scheduled for Saturday, the rain and wind wouldn't let up. Today was our only shot before they went home, and it worked out! IT’S SHOWTIME!!! The fishing is still great, as you have seen in some of our photos and posts, BUT we are still working behind the scenes to give you the newest, best riding, safest and best overall boats we can offer. For those that knew Target Depth, it is no longer with us and we have added a 2020 Cape Horn 32’ that we should have in a couple weeks once the electronics are installed. Cape Horns are built to be unsinkable, get great fuel economy, and are one of the driest rides I’ve ever witnessed - 3-5’ seas at the pass in Destin, FL with major current and max speed of 62mph. She will feature a thru hull 3Kw transducer with a 22” and 10” Garmin (pics attached). Some of y’all have seen the 34’ Fountain “Killing Time” we have added recently but I am adding pics of her as well. She has twin Yamaha 350s and tons of fishing room! Revelry will get brand spanking new Honda 200s in November to update her! I can’t say enough about the old Hondas coming off, over 9000 hours on them made them very reliable! Pesca Mas will be sold and replaced with a similar state water boat to Revelry. Summer may be over but we are still fishing and also working to make sure that safety, reliability, and comfort for our customers is number ONE!!
