2024.04.30 大分県大分市 早吸日女神社⛩️タコが眷族です🐙タコがいっぱいです🐙神職はたこ焼きも食べられません🌮タコ断ち祈願なるものも行われているそうです😱 神武東征の故事故に、九州にはカムヤマトイワレビコにちなんだ逸話のある神社が多いですが、こちらもイワレビコが通りかかった際に大ダコから神剣をとりあげて奉ったのが始まりとのことです。その神剣が御神体だそうです🗡️ 御祭神は住吉三神のほか三柱です。あまり聞きなれない古い神々が並びます。 境内には伊邪那伎社がありますが、こちらの社殿の屋根はなんとチタン製です🫅海にとても近いこともあり、1973年に世界初のチタン材屋根に葺き替えられてそうです。 ステッカーは八角形です🛑タコと足の数と関係あるんでしょうか🫤社紋は藤っぽいですね。翌日は「ふじ祭」だと、通りがかった地元の女性が教えてくれました👵見逃して残念と仰ってくださいました。お気遣いありがとうございました。 混乱に巻き込まれなくてラッキー✌️なんて思った自分を恥じています😨 #交通安全ステッカー #神社巡り #一之宮 #神社仏閣 #大分県 #大分市 # #早吸日女神社 #タコ #カムヤマトイワレビコ #チタン屋根 #ふじ祭 Oita Prefecture, Oita City, Hayasuhime Shrine ⛩️ Here at Hayasuhime Shrine, octopuses are more than just sea creatures; they're considered divine messengers 🐙. Even the shrine priests practice abstinence from octopus dishes like takoyaki 🌮, and there’s even a ritual performed here called the "Octopus Abstinence Prayer" 😱. This shrine's lore ties back to the legendary eastward expedition of Emperor Jinmu, or Kamuyamatoiwarebiko, a story common in Kyushu. It’s said that during his passage, he seized a divine sword from a giant octopus, which now serves as the shrine's sacred object 🗡️. The enshrined deities include the three Sumiyoshi gods and other ancient and less familiar deities. One of the buildings within the shrine complex, the Izanagi Shrine, boasts a titanium roof 🫅—a necessity due to its proximity to the sea, which became the world's first shrine to be roofed with titanium material back in 1973. Lake Kinrin in Yufuin Onsen in Oita Prefecture is renowned for its morning mist, which is created when its water 💦 from hot 🥵 and cold 🥶 springs mixes. This year I was once again fortunate to write about and travel to Oita Prefecture in Japan’s southern island of Kyushu. The local arts organization Beppu Project and Jun’ya Yamaide, head of Yamaide Art Office, are closely involved with Oita Cultural Expo! ‘24, an event promoting the prefecture’s cultural and tourist attractions. I wrote about Beppu Project and the Expo for Kyushu Weekender, a special issue of Tokyo Weekender: https://www.tokyoweekender.com/art_and_culture/arts/oita-prefecture-kyushu-public-art-beppu-kunisaki/ Over the weekend I visited the cities of Beppu and Oita and joined a bus tour of the coastal Saiki area, seeing contemporary art and visiting other sites of historical and cultural importance.
