Moving slowly Like many I was captivated by the recent KO-II. One of the things that stopped me pulling the trigger was the fact I already have an OP-Z. They're not the same, but they're also not that different. Anyway, tonight I started listening to a Song Exploder, got ten minutes in and realised I wanted to be making, not listening at that point in time. So here's a jam I threw together over the next ten minutes while the sun was setting... New hobby is making my own 35mm slides and projecting them on a half functional projector I bought for $2, using a USB light 😅. I was going to shoot this video again but the USB light ran out of charge... Ok here it is: first proper recording in a decade+, captured at home in one take using just my trusty #OP-Z. Link in Bio. The instrument makes songwriting so creatively satisfying, but I always struggled with the production end. so it’s been an exercise in close listening, trial and error, troubleshooting with youtube tutorials…while learning to accept imperfections with the live performance aspect, and reconcile with my limited engineering ability, to just get a rough cut out into the world as proof of concept. Got an album’s worth of material now that I’ve been occasionally performing in backyards, bar backrooms, parks and rooftops….so lots more to share, when I can summon the discipline to document.
