10 - 11 September 2022 Bloomfield Track to Cooktown Early start to our morning to see first light and watch the sun rise from the Rex Lookout. Then it was back to the car to head for the Daintree River Ferry. Today we are hitting the Bloomfield track. Before crossing the Daintree River by ferry we stopped and took in the information boards and looked around the crocodile river cruise ticket booths. Our ferry crossing was great and the drive through the Daintree/Cape Tribulation was as spectacular as ever. We even got the honour of seeing a juvenile Cassowary drinking at one of the creek crossings along the Bloomfield Track. Wujal Wujal falls were spectacular. Their sound was loud and impressive. Lions Den was definitely a place to stop and look around. So many wonderful memories all over the walls. For a gold coin donation to charity we left our signature mark! If you’re ever out that way and stop. Let us know if you find our marking on the wall. Cooktown is fantastic. We camped in the Peninsular Caravan Park. Great amenities and wonderful staff. Finch Bay was gorgeous, even with the super low tide. Grassy Hill Lookout was spectacular. We checked out the outside of the museum but decided against going in due to our time restraints, we were there for Lawn Bowls after all. 😉On our drive through town we spotted a wonderful water park for kids and adults alike. There was also room right near it for a kick of the footy. Time now to head back to the Cooktown Bowls Club for a few cold ones and our evening meal, which neither of us could fault. The rest of the weekend was taken up playing lawn bowl. Hubby’s team came away with a win! Took the inland road home stopping to take in the spectacular views from the lookouts along the way. Came down the Rex Range stopping at the Rex Lookout to watch the moon rise. What a perfect way to end another perfect weekend.
