💥 BIGGEST SEASON EVER 💥 Now that the season is over we can reflect on what an exciting year it was for our team. If we would have said at the start of the season we would complete the number of races on our proposed calendar we would have all said we were mad! We competed in 26 nights of racing over the past summer of racing and as a team we learnt and improved so much! Remembering that the team is run by family and friends it is a huge effort to complete the number of races that we did at such a high level. We don’t employ full time people to work on the car and we all have very busy day jobs. A huge THANKYOU to everyone who made it possible to happen. The awesome sponsors supporting all season long and along with those amazing people who joined our top wing for selected race meetings. Without all of you this is certainly not even possible! Lastly a huge thanks to all of the boys Michael (brother), Jake and Jason (brother) for all of the time off work and the work on the car all year long, even though I frustrated them along the way we all have a strong bond when we get our heads down. We all want nothing more than to WIN! In Modified we saw Michelle Morrison take the win over Paul Garbellini, who secured the championship from Morrison by making it to the finals. Lorenzo Gullotto took the win over Stephen Lundy on a track that worked well for both the Outlaw Radial finalists all night. Roger Moorhouse may have taken the Top Sportsman win, but Alby Baranich took home the season championship after coming in to the final round with a 65 point lead. In Supercharged Outlaws, Kasey McClure had already locked in the Championship with a dominating performance all season and continued that form in the final against Norbert Claite. @maddingtontoyotasprintcars Grand Final at @perth_motorplex Qualifying: 7th In Group Heat: 6th Mid Pack Dash: 8th A Main: DNF The Cameron McKenzie Racing Team contested the final round of the 2023/2024 season, a consistent night was had throughout, looking for a positive result to end our biggest racing season to date, whilst running 4th in the Mid Pack Dash unfortunately we made contact with another car on the final lap, losing a handful of positions as a result. With the quick turn around for the Feature Race the team had managed to make all the repairs required to see the #4 car make a start in position 22, although due to the time restraints and not being able to make the necessary setup changes prior to the start, Cameron moved forward throughout the 30 lap final to be just outside the Top 10. With a handful of laps remaining we had a tyre going down wich resulted in a DNF. Not the way we were looking to finish out our season however we can still take away many positives from the night, our car has shown great consistency and we have been moving forward each time we hit the track. Saturday nights East vs West Nitro racing at the @Perth_Motorplex AeroFlow NitroMax Grand Finals saw some amazing passes, with track records and personal bests throughout the night. For me, standout passes included Shannon Taylor's awesome 5.448s pass in the SpeedTorque Grumpy Fuel Altered and Morice McMillin's 5.291s pass in the AeroFlow Performance Nitro Express 57 Chev. James Kemp laid down a 5.752s pass in the Animal Fuel Altered in the opening round, with that team really coming along in leaps and bounds and I can't wait to see what next season holds for Statler and Waldorf Racing. At the end of the night, the East Coast Rocket Industries / @AeroFlowPerformance cars took home the teams trophy, but the West Coast cars certainly put on a real solid showing throughout the night. Steph Gullotto - Perth Motorplex Super Street Champion 2023/24 and AeroFlow NitroMax Grand Finals Winner. As I get started on the edits from yesterdays AeroFlow NitroMax Grand Finals at the @Perth_Motorplex, a couple of stories stand out. One of these was Steph Gullotto's run to the 2023/24 Super Street Championship, one of the toughest fields at the Motorplex. Coming in to this meeting it was down to Steph vs Craig Caton for the championship and with both racers meeting in the semi-finals it was all on the line. Steph took the win over Craig, sealed the championship and went on to win the meeting in the final against former National champion Lisa Garbellini. Jason, our latest driver is competing in his first major competition today in Tango 4, and of course he was called up for mandatory Andra ESP inspection. A simple task of having your car and gear inspected by a qualified scrutineer to ensure everything meets Andra and class rules. Here, senior scrutineer, Bob, talks with Jason explaining what is required, needless to say, both Jason and the car passed with flying colours. Just over a year ago now, the American reality TV show, Street Outlaws, based around a bunch of drag racers competing in a no prep format around the country, sent a contingent of some of their more successful drivers over to Australia to tour some of our dragstrips and race our local racers. First up was the @Perth_Motorplex here in @WesternAustralia and I was lucky to be able to shoot this event, including the shots here from the test day when the teams first got to hit that famous Motorplex strip. I've been sitting on these shots for a year now, trying to find the spare time to re-edit and build website galleries, and as the show has now gone to air both in the USA and here in Australia, I figured now was as good a time as any to use a little of the free time I managed to scrape together while Lori's been on night shift to try to catch up on these. I still have two more days of racing to re-edit, so full website release is still a little away, but hopefully once I've finished editing and uploading shots from this weekends upcoming Perth Motorplex Drag Racing Grand Finals, I'll be in a better position to work on those as well.
