This is the first AEW PPV that I actually watch live. So far its been OK. I liked the trios match between the House of Black and Copeland/Kingston/Briscoe. That match was very entertaining with all the spots. The Willow Nightingale victory for the TBS Title against Julia Hart was also nice to see. Too bad that she isn't going to hold that belt for too long. Sorry for the late impressions on Mania night one. I was working late so I missed the Rhea/Becky and the 6 team ladder Tag match. Though I like how they finally split the unified tag titles apart. And giving R-Truth fka K-Kwik (yes, I've been watching wrestling THAT long) his Mania moment was 😙🤌🏽 I was making quick dinner during the Rey/Andrade vs Dom/Santos match, so I have nothing to say about that. The Jay vs Jimmy match had some impact with the kicks, but something was missing. Though its not fair to compare but this match was definitely not Bret vs. Owen from Mania X. The six woman tag had Jade Cargill shining with her silver short hair 😍 And I felt that whip of Asuka by Bianca with the ponytail. From what I saw, Night one was stolen by Sami vs Gunther and the main event of Cody/Seth vs Reigns and "The Final Boss" the Rock. First the IC Title match. While I sensed that Sami was winning when the camera was panning his walk to the ring, this match had emotion. Definitely Sami's best match in WWE. The loss did nothing to bring down Gunther. On the contrary, now he can move up the world title tier of matches. And I'm curious to see how long it takes for Gable to turn heel against Sami. As I mentioned above, I've watched wrestling for a long time. I've seen companies come and go but no company can put on a spectacle like WWE can. The four separate entrances leading into the main event, especially Seth's and the Rock's were amazing. And while the match wasn't tag team clinic, it had everything you wanted and more. The Rock silenced all the skeptics who wondered why he was main eventing Mania. And Cody? For the first time in months I stayed up for an entire WWE PLE. Have to say I'm glad I did. The matches were solid. Even the Miz vs Gunther match. I didn't really care about that one going in. Both Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee were elevated in their match. Rhea was dominant. And those chaps were 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 Both War Games matches had some nice spots without the talent having to do to many crazy stunts. It was the right balance in my opinion. Man, Randy looked jacked in his return. And let's not forget the elephant in the room: the unbelievable WWE return of CM Punk. I'll let it be known that I have been and still am indifferent to Punk. I've thought he was a negative influence and his stay in AEW, while had its moments, further proved that. But I am intrigued with the potential matchups his return to WWE brings. Some people feel he doesn't deserve this chance. Some people feel he's just going to do the same as he's always done. Perhaps that is true. Only time can tell. I hold no expectations for Punk either way. Some also feel that his return last night took away from the card. I don't think so. If he did a run in or debuted during the main event then yes, I would be inclined to feel differently. But it was done as close to an end credit scene from a Marvel movie as you can get on a wrestling show. They were about to go off the air and BOOM!!! Man, I would have paid to feel that pop from the fans live in the Allstate Arena. They definitely got their $$$ worth. The road to Wrestlemania isn't starting at the Royal Rumble next year. Last night I watched the Bash at the Beach 2000 Episode from Dark Side of the Ring. Holy shit what a car wreck WCW was at the end. I fired up the PPV on Peacock to see how bad the drama really was. When I tell you the Hardcore match between Big Vito and the handicap team of Ralphus/Screaming Norman might have been the most entertaining match of the entire card. I really tuned WCW out when the Radicalz (Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn) showed up on Monday Night Raw. When WCW let those four just walk to WWF, you knew they were finished.
