What a fantastic Prisacara Fish specimen! The Prisacara would have lived during the eocene period up to 53 million years ago, when the climate was much warmer & more tropical than it is today. This was a freshwater fish and was thought to be carnivorous due to its teeth, probably living off other fish and insects. This fish was found in the Green River Formation in Wyoming, where most of our fossil fish come from. Because of the fine grain sediment found here this former lake is an absolute hot bed for amazing fossils including a wide range of plants, insects, fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
