“Gentle Giants”. 🦕💚 (4x6 Mixed Media Story Box) I’m often afraid of “BIG” things…big ideas, giant tasks, and giants in general. 😆. The bigger something is the more it’s seems impossible to tame, understand or get on board with. But I love the idea that these big, giant things in our lives are not really out to step on us….it would be messy for them too! 😆. Finding the gentleness in our giants might help us to get on board see where those big things can take us…( Japan would be highly appreciated 😂😆💕). Hey there All! Sunday is the day! Woo hoo 🎉 shop update! 🎉 I’ll have several boxes available including this one. So keep checking here all week for previews! Wishing you guys the best rest of your week and that perhaps you’ll find a Wild Dino or two to tame! 😆🦕💚. . . . #dinos #🦕 #dinoart #dinosaurart #dinolove #littlefoot #ハンドメイド #kawaiidesu #mixedmediaart #artoftheday #polymerclay #prehistoric #shadowboxart

King Arthur's Round Table, Eamont Bridge. Consisting of a circular raised platform 50m in diameter and surrounded by a wide ditch and embankment, the henge was constructed between 3000 to 4000 years ago. Two stones which once stood at the now destroyed northern entrance have been lost. The purpose of the henge remains unclear. Mayburgh Henge and the largely destroyed Little Round Table lie nearby #henge #prehistoric #kingarthursroundtable #eamontbridge #penrith #history

The long linage of the miniscule millipede scuttles back 89 gazillion years to the Arthropleura. Like all prehistoric creatures the Arthropleura was much larger and more horrifying than it's puny progeny. At over eight feet long with thousand of tiny toes, this massive millipede made a snack of many a cavemen and a fine meal to many a pterodactyl. Today's scientists are working tirelessly to resurrect the Arthropleura through selective breeding and gene manipulation. Although disgusting, giant bugs are researchers great hope for feeding a population they don't believe deserve to eat normal food. #dinosaurscience #dinofactsdotorg #dinoart #prehistory #prehistoricplanet #giantbugs #rubberdinosaur #rubbermonsters #pterodactyl #dinosaur #science #scienctificallyproven #milipede #educational #educationalpost #toydinosaur #toyphotography #prehistoric #learning #dino #naturalhistory #naturephotography #bug #birdwatching #dormeidinosaurs #education

T h e O u t e r H e b r i d e s | Callanish standing stones. Black and white seemed appropriate here. There are a few places where eternity seems particularly close and tangible, this Neolithic site is certainly one of them. Situated on the ridge of a promontory extending into Loch Roag, a large sea loch that cuts into the west side of the isle of Lewis, these magnificent and enigmatic standing stones have been standing watch for almost 5 000 years. The stones are arranged in a pattern resembling a Celtic cross, with large stones enclosing a much larger central stone, with short projecting rows of similarly large stones on its South, West and East axes. Two much longer rows of large stones form an avenue running towards the North- East from the circle. There are 49 stones still standing, there may originally have been around 80. I found it hard to make out the pattern when I was there, I was so absorbed by the individuality, textures and stark beauty of each stone. I could have failed to notice the complexity of the overall layout had I not seen aerials and drawings of it in advance (swipe to see). The circle with its dramatic central stone and what is probably the remains of a cairn, seen here, is easy to spot, though. Probably dating from around 2 900 BC, several centuries before the construction of Stonehenge, the monument was probably constructed in several phases and was probably used for its original purpose until around 1 500 BC. This monument, Callanish 1, is commonly understood as the central part of a much wider ritual landscape. Numerous other ritual sites lie within a few kilometres. These include at least three other circles, several arcs, alignments and single stones; many visible from the main site. Callanish II and III lie just over a kilometre to the southeast. The existence of other monuments in the area implies that Callanish was an active focus for prehistoric religious activity for at least 1500 years.

"Maytime (The Fairest Season) May-time, fair season, perfect is its aspect then; blackbirds sing a full song, if there be a scanty beam of day. The hardy, busy cuckoo calls, welcome home noble summer! It calms the bitterness of bad weather, the branching wood is a prickly hedge. Summer brings low the little stream, the swift herd makes for the water, the long hair of the heather spreads out, the weak white cotton-grass flourishes. … The smooth sea flows, season when the ocean falls asleep; flowers cover the world. Bees, whose strength is small, carry with their feet a load reaped from the flowers; the mountain allures the cattle, the ant makes a rich meal. The harp of the wood plays melody, its music brings perfect peace; colour has settled on every hill, haze on the lake of full water. The corncrake clacks, a strenuous bard; the high pure waterfall sings a greeting to the warm pool; rustling of rushes has come. Light swallows dart on high, brisk music encircles the hill, tender rich fruits bud… The hardy cuckoo sings, the speckled fish leaps, mighty is the swift warrior. The vigour of men flourishes, the glory of the great hills is unspoiled; every wood is fair from the crest to the ground, fair each great goodly field. Delightful is the seasons splendour, winters rough wind has gone; bright is every fertile wood, a joyful peace is summer. A flock of birds settle…; the green field re-echoes, where there is a brisk bright stream. A mad ardour upon you to race horses, where the serried host is ranged around; very splendid is the bounty of the cattle-pond, the iris is gold because of it. A timid persistent frail creature sings at the top of his voice, the lark chants a clear tale – excellent May-time of calm aspect!" A few photos from the incredible and mysterious Dwarfie Stane on the island of Hoy. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💫 Hoy Island is Orkney’s second largest and with amazing desolate and green landscapes. Sitting in a valley (between Quoys and Rackwick) is the enigmatic megalithic Dwarfie Stane which could date as far back as 3500 BC. A huge block of red sandstone measuring about 8.5 metres long is the Dwarfie Stane which is thought to be Britain’s only example of a rock-cut ‘tomb’. The stone has been placed there millions of years ago by Mother Nature. The ancients have somehow carved out an incredible chamber. An opening, three feet square, is cut into the stone and leads to the inner chamber. It’s carved with precision, the sides are very smooth and there are small ridges and grooves. The chamber contains two rock-cut spaces both of which are very compact. The space on the right has what looks like a ‘pillow’ carved into the stone. Red sandstone is very hard so the precision of the chamber incredible. The style of the chamber is not like anything I’ve seen in the UK and feels like something you would see in the Mediterranean. The acoustic properties inside the chamber are amazing. The chamber has a sonic resonance which felt very similar to being inside the the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid. Outside the entrance is a large sandstone block which was used to seal the opening. The tomb was still sealed in the 16th century. There are many legends and folklore associated with the Dwarfie Stane. As the name suggests one legend is a dwarf by the name of Trollid lived within it and it is also thought to be connected with giants who built it. Was it used as a tomb or for something else? The Dwarfie Stane is quite possibly my favourite megalithic site on the Orkney Islands! The landscape and setting is hard to explain until you are there and it really adds to the mystery of this enigmatic site. #dwarfiestane #maeshowe #ringofbrodgar #skarabrae #neolithic #orkney #orkneyislands #visitorkney #prehistoric #megalithic #ancients #burialchamber #standingstones #stonecircles #ancienttechnology #scotland #historicscotland #ancientknowledge #ancienthistory

Journey Through light In the heart of a lush prehistoric forest, nestled among towering ferns and ancient cycads, a remarkable discovery awaited excavation. Dr. Denis, renowned archaeologist and anthropologist, led a team of researchers to unearth a fossilized skeleton unlike any they had encountered before. With meticulous care, they carefully brushed away layers of sediment, revealing the intricate details of a creature long lost to time. As they pieced together the fossilized remains, a story began to emerge—a tale of a creature known as the “Arborellia.” Standing on four sturdy legs with sharp claws adapted for climbing, the Arborellia was a master of the treetops, navigating the dense canopy with ease. Its long, agile tail provided balance as it leaped from branch to branch, while its keen eyes scanned the forest for signs of prey. But what set the Arborellia apart was its remarkable intelligence. Fossilized brain tissue preserved within the skull hinted at a level of cognitive complexity previously unseen in prehistoric creatures. Dr. Denis speculated that the Arborellia possessed advanced problem-solving skills and social behaviors, forming intricate bonds with its fellow creatures in the ancient forest. Yet, as the team continued their excavation, they stumbled upon a startling revelation. Embedded within the sediment layers surrounding the Arborellia’s skeleton were traces of a mysterious substance—dark matter. Long believed to be a product of the cosmos, dark matter had somehow found its way into the ancient forest, leaving behind tantalizing clues about its enigmatic nature. Intrigued by this unexpected discovery, Dr. Denis and his team embarked on a quest to unravel the secrets of dark matter’s presence in the prehistoric world. Using cutting-edge technology and innovative research methods, they delved deeper into the fossil record, uncovering evidence of dark matter’s influence on ancient ecosystems and evolutionary processes. #art #poetry #prehistoric #fossil #dinosaur #discover #mythicaldinosaur #arborellia #lostworld #darkmatter #nature #earth #extinction #intelligence #atlantis #imagination #scienceart #medicalart #paleoart #archeology

Reconstructed skeleton of Big Al! 😨 Allosaurus is a genus of large carnosaurian theropod dinosaur that lived 155 to 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic epoch (Kimmeridgian to late Tithonian). The first fossil remains that could definitively be ascribed to this genus were described in 1877 by paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh. As one of the first well-known theropod dinosaurs, it has long attracted attention outside of paleontological circles. Allosaurus was a large bipedal predator. Its skull was light, robust and equipped with dozens of sharp, serrated teeth. It averaged 10 meters (33 ft) in length, though fragmentary remains suggest it could have reached over 12 m (39 ft). Relative to the large and powerful hindlimbs, its three-fingered forelimbs were small, and the body was balanced by a long and heavily muscled tail. It is classified as an allosaurid, a type of carnosaurian theropod dinosaur. The genus has a complicated taxonomy, and includes three valid species, the best known of which is A. fragilis. The bulk of Allosaurus remains have come from North America's Morrison Formation, with material also known from Portugal. 🔴 FOLLOW US ▶@prehistoric__planet ----------- #Allosaurus #paleontology #динозавр #prehistoric #dinosaur #dinosaurs #dinosaurios #dinosaurier #dinosauri #dinomite #dinosaurio #dinosaure #dinozaur #dinossauro #museum #skeleton #fossils #skull #fossil #science #trex #tyrannosaurusrex #jurassicpark #jurassicworld #jurassic #carnosauria #predator #northamerica #bonewars #Portugal

Culture has lead us to betray our own aboriginal spirit and wholeness, into an ever-worsening realm of synthetic, isolating, impoverishing estrangement. Which is not to say that there are no more everyday pleasures, without which we would loose our humanness. The Five Star Pokemon Bug/Flying Type Abilities: Swarm, Early Bird, HA Compound Eyes This Pokemon does not evolve. HP: 65 Att: 35 Def: 45 SpA: 100 SpD: 110 Spe: 95 Ledian has also not changed much since its first appearance in Godana much like its previous evolution. It does have a few small differences in its ability and scientists have noticed this version is a small bit stronger. The only explanation is thought to be similar to Stantler not evolving easier in modern times as they both have less worry over being attacked. But in prehistoric times, Ledian is the more guardian type for the Ledyba and Ledibole. They use their speedy attacks to disorientate enemies like Fearow or Birsheen enough for the more defensive Ledibole to cover up any babies. Ledian is a decent flyer but they seem to choose a more ground based movement to stay with others of their kind and avoid the more agile threats in the air.

Would you believe me if I told you this was the latest Spinosaurus reconstruction? Sorry, it's not. But what in the world is it? The caption says: "Who were the first? What can a fish do when the pond it lives in dries up? Many millions of years ago, some fish gradually stopped living in water and started breathing air. We can imagine that this is what they looked like." Well, I imagined the first fish on land to be somehow less monstrous and flamboyant, but I'm happy to join illustrator Chris Foss on this one. Talulah 🦖👑🌿 Once upon a time, in the lush, verdant heart of ancient South America, there existed a kingdom unlike any other. It was a realm where dinosaurs had not perished but evolved, developing cultures and societies as complex and varied as the humans who would come much later. Among these majestic creatures was a warrior princess named **Talulah**, of noble blood and fierce spirit. Talulah was not just any royal; she was a guardian of her people and the dense, mystical forest they called home. Her scales shimmered with the hues of the earth, adorned with intricate tattoos that told stories of her ancestors' bravery and the battles they had won. Large, vibrant flowers crowned her head, a symbol of life and fertility revered by her tribe. The princess was known far and wide for her prowess in battle, wielding a spear with a handle carved from the oldest tree in the forest. The carvings depicted the creation of the stars and the sun, which her people believed were gifts from the great spirit of the forest. Legend has it that Talulah's heart was as fierce as her bite, and her roar could summon the winds themselves. She stood as the unyielding protector against the dark forces that sought to corrupt the sacred lands. Under her watch, the kingdom thrived, and the mystical forest remained an untouched sanctuary, a sliver of paradise where dinosaur and nature lived in perfect harmony. But Talulah's tale was not just one of war and protection. She was also a beacon of wisdom and peace, often mediating disputes among the various dinosaur tribes. Her decollete, a mark of her royal lineage, was said to be a gift from the forest itself, granting her the ability to communicate with the spirits of the land. "The Phantom Giants" The huge behemoths and leviathans with such fragmentary remains. It may be truly unlikely we are able to fully see the scope and grasp of these creatures, and we may never will.

Scientists have discovered possibly the largest marine reptile ever - longer than two buses nose-to-nose! Lived 202 million years ago with dinosaurs. Fossil jawbones found in Somerset, UK - one in 2016, another in 2020. Experts estimate these giant ichthyosaurs were around 25m long, as big as a blue whale, based on the jaw bones (one of them over a meter long and the other two metres long)! 🐋 #prehistoric #marinebiology #palaeontology The image is an artist's rendering of the ichthyosaur.
