In my last update of this year, we return to the #uusikaupunkiautomuseo (the car museum of Uusikaupunki), where I visited in the summer. I took a lot of pictures during my visit, but I still prefer sharing with you pictures that are taken outside of organized situations. However, here are some of the highlights from the museum, because they are way too interesting to leave completely unshared. Pictures from the museum would be enough for several posts, and it may be that I will post something from there even later. In today's post, you will see the following: - PIC 1: Saab 95s from 1970 (the grey one) and 1976 (the green one). - PIC 2: Saab 96 '69. This is the first Saab 96 produced in Finland and it was handed over as new to the current president of Finland, Urho Kekkonen. - PIC 3: Saab 96 Monte Carlo 1966. - PIC 4: Almost the whole line of Saab 96s. - PIC 5: Saab 99 '69. The first Saab 99 imported to Finland. Note that not all Saab 99s in Finland are made in Finland. - PIC 6: Saab 99 Finlandia (extended model). - PIC 7: row of Saab 99s. - PICs 8-9: Finlandia models of 99s and 900s. - PIC 10: the 900 Sport Coupe. A concept of a 900 coupe. You can find a post of it I made earlier by using the hashtag #saab900sportcoupe. It is one of my most liked posts and definitely one of my own favorite posts I've made. Those who follow me will surely know that Saab is one of my favorite car manufacturers, so it's quite appropriate to end this year here and today is #saabsaturday anyway. This must be my favourite 900 model, a long wheelbase Finlandia (CD) Turbo from 1980. This one was President Koivisto's official car when he was the Governor of the Bank of Finland. Later he redeemed it for himself and it served as his personal vehicle until 2002. I think these CD models look more well-balanced compared to the regular 4 and 5 door models. 🤔 Such a beautiful colour too. Saab 900 ’Finlandia’ CD Turbo Lux 📍Helsinki, 2016 Easily one of the greatest Saabs ever built - in Uusikaupunki (🇫🇮) Finns figured out why not to have the LWB version out of the 900. They gave the car an extra 20cm, named it offically CD and built ca. 550 of them. Most of the cars ended up into usage of the top managements of the different companies in Finland, and even our President of the time had multiple of these. Swipe left!
