Ivana wurde vor 9 Jahren unsterblich bei der Verteidigung eines kleinen Dorfes gegen den IS. Noch heute können wir viel von ihrem Mut, ihrer Entschlossenheit und ihrem Kampfgeist lernen. Noch heute ist sie ein Vorbild für viele, die ihren Kampf weiter führen. Noch heute gehen wir als Frauen jedes Jahr am 8. März auf die Straße und nehmen uns ein Beispiel an unserer Genossin als Frauen voran zu gehen und unsere Ketten zu sprengen. Ivana lebt nach wie vor in unserem Kampf. Als FKO Köln haben wir deswegen anläßlich ihres Todestages auf der Keupstraße aufgehangen und die Keupstraße in Ivana Hoffmann Straße umbenannt. Remember Ivana Hoffmann Wir gedenken am 7. März Ivana Hoffmann (Avaşin Tekoşîn Güneş). Ivana Hoffmann war eine junge Internationalistin und Kommunistin, die im Kampf gegen den IS/Daesh in Rojava gefallen ist. Sie wuchs als Arbeiter*innenkind in Duisburg auf. Sie war schon früh in der Bildungsstreikbewegung sowie in feministischen, antifaschistischen, sozialistischen Kontexten aktiv und war ein Begeisterter Fußballfan. Sie schloss sie sich der Jugendorganisation der MLKP an um als Kommunist*in organisiert gegen Ungerechtigkeit, Unterdrückung und Ausbeutung zu kämpfen. 2013 reiste sie in die Türkei und später in die freien Berge Kurdistans wo sie eine militärische und ideologische Ausbildung erhielt. Hier nahm sie den Namen Avaşin Tekoşîn Güneş an. Nach ihrer Ausbildung bei der Guerilla ging sie 2014 nach Rojava um die Revolution zu verteidigen und den Kampf gegen den IS zu unterstützen. An vorderster Front kämpfte sie gegen Imperialismus, Kolonialismus, Faschismus und das Patriarchat. Ivana Hoffmann starb am 07.03.2015 in der Nähe von Til Temir. Ivana Hoffmann’s Leben und Wirken steht für Revolution, Kampf und Menschlichkeit. Sie ist Inspiration und Vorbild für eine kämpferische Jugend die ihre Hoffnung auf Veränderung nicht aufgibt. Ihr Andenken gilt es weiterzutragen und ihren entschlossenen Kampf für eine bessere und gerechtere Welt fortzusetzen. Fallen on 23.02.2016 in Shaddadi in the fight against IS (english below in the comments) Heute gedenken wir Günter Hellstern, der als Internationalist im Kampf gegen den IS gefallen ist. Günter Hellstern (Rustem Cudi) wurde 1969 in Deutschland geboren. Er war aufgrund seiner Biografie und seines Alters eine Besonderheit in den Reihen der Internationalist*innen in Rojava. Er war lange Jahre Soldat in der Bundeswehr und später auch in der Fremdenlegion. Aufgrund der schnellen Ausbreitung des IS und deren extremen Brutalität, entschloss sich Hellstern nach Rojava zu gehen, um sich dem Kampf gegen den IS anzuschließen. In Rojava setzte er sich mit der Philosophie Öcalan’s, dem demokratischen Konföderalismus sowie den neuen Strukturen auseinander. Tief beeindruckt davon, wurde er zu einem überzeugten Verteidiger der Revolution. Auf die Frage eines Journalisten, wofür er denn kämpfe, antwortete er: “Ich kämpfe nicht für mich oder für Deutschland oder für irgendeinen Privatmann oder sonst irgendwas, sondern ich kämpfe für das kurdische Volk“. Zudem zeigte er auch hier seine Überzeugung: „Das neue System hier mit der Rätestruktur, Kommunenstruktur, das alles funktioniert wirklich“. Günter Hellstern kämpfte u.a. in Kobane und Hasaka. Er starb am 23.02.2016 in Shaddadi. Beim Versuch einem verwundeten Genossen zu helfen wurde er von einem feindlichen Scharfschützen getroffen. Die YPG betonten seine außergewöhnliche Tapferkeit und versprachen seinen Kampf für die Revolution fortzusetzen. Auch wir als Antifaschist*innen und Internationalist*innen Gedenken heute an Günter Hellstern der im Kampf gegen Faschismus und für eine befreite Gesellschaft sein Leben gab. "The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) has issued a strong condemnation of the assaults carried out by Turkey and Iran against the Kurdish people. In a message to the Free Women’s Society of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR), RAWA highlighted the resistance of the Kurdish people, particularly women, against this aggression. They asserted that the Kurdish women’s struggle and revolution have become a source of inspiration for all women in the Middle East. RAWA’s message stressed the intent of Afghan and Kurdish women to collaborate in countering these attacks. They noted that Turkey’s assaults on the Kurds are not a new occurrence, pointing out the country’s long history of targeting Kurdish communities and Kurdish female fighters. RAWA criticised the global silence on these issues, expressing solidarity with the Kurdish cause. Bekaa Valley: A Paradise to Regain "The Armenian militants were being trained by Palestinians in the #BekaaValley of Lebanon in the early 1980s," writes Meral Zin Cicek (2018). "During that period, apart from Palestinians and Armenians, another group was engaged in military training in the Bekaa Valley: revolutionaries of the Party of the Workers of Kurdistan (PKK). The following are excerpts from Monte Melkonian’s diaries: 'At night, the Kurds actually dreamt about their suffering motherland, and as soon as they woke up they charged off to the drill ground. They dug foxholes with gusto and shouted "Thaura! Thaura! (Revolution!") during assault practice, instead of the usual "Allahu Akbar! (God is Great!)". When they picked the odd quince, they left coins for the farmer at the foot of the tree, and when a Druze farmer came to harvest olives at a nearby orchard they climbed the trees with buckets to help. Once, when the Kurd Suleiman broke a banana in half and absentmindedly landed Comrade Hassan the smaller of the two pieces, his PKK comrade Terjuman demanded a round of criticism and self-criticism. Suleiman came clean with self-criticism and a solemn oath never again to engage in such unseemly behaviour. After their initial amusement wore off, the scruffy, swearing, cigarette-smoking Arabs and Armenians at the camp began to feel self-conscious in the presence of the abstemious Kurds, with their internationalist songs, their allusions to German classical philosophy and their constant focus on revolution. Their enthusiasm was contagious. One by one, the smokers started tossing aside their cigarette rations after returning from the morning jog. All the comrades grimly huddled around the radio for news about the September 12, 1980, military coup in Turkey. Arab recruits volunteered to shoot Turkish diplomats. "Let me share a story that a friend once told me. He took part in the Qandil war in 2011. At that time, there was a pragmatic alliance between Turkey and Iran: both had a problem with the Kurdish movement, and were afraid of the military opportunities the guerrillas had. Qandil forms the southern end of the Medya Defence Territories, the guerrilla-controlled mountains in the border regions of Iran, Iraq and Turkey. He told me about a situation when one and a half thousand pasdaran, the Iran infantry regiments, tried to storm the hill where the guerrillas were hiding. There were only about thirty comrades defending their mountain. He explained that what the Iranian army tried to use against them were just their bullets, and their fear of punishment from their leaders. They ran blindly upwards, and were defeated. They had no conviction, no energy, no friendship between them. On the other hand, when his comrades defended their position, they didn’t just use their weapons, he told me. They were fighting for their looted villages, for their split families, with their fallen friends in mind, with the consciousness that the attacking army would burn the mountains and forests behind them and destroy the nature in their lands. They fought for those who were too weak to stand alone, for all the parts of society who stood behind them and had their back. Maybe it’s hard to understand if you didn’t feel it yourself. But their energy was backed by a long line of friends, historically experienced oppression, mutual protection—a love for life and a belief in themselves. All these things come first, he said, when you’re sitting next to your friends in your guard position and raising your arms in defense: your trust in your comrades, your gratitude for those who believe in a free society living in the valleys, for the ones who cultivate the gardens feeding you, your sadness about the horrors the state did to your friends and families. Liebe Freund:innen, Wir möchten mit euch zusammenkommen und an Elefteria Hambi erinnern. Sie wurde am 25.11.2019 von einem türkischen Luftangriff in Gare (Irak) ermordet. Viele von uns kennen Elefteria Hambi noch aus dem Hambacher Forst, wo sie mit uns für den Erhalt des Waldes und für Gerechtigkeit für Mensch und Natur kämpfte. Sie ging 2018 nach Rojava, dem befreiten kurdischen Gebiet, in dem seit Jahren die Frauenrevolution blüht. Dort schloss sie sich der YPJ im bewaffneten Kampf gegen den IS an. Sie war eine hoffnungsgebende, tieffühlende und entschlossene Guerilla-Kämpferin, die ihre Hingabe für Freiheit an jeden Ort und in jedes Herz trug, dem sie begegnete. Im Kampf für eine Welt frei von Macht und Herrschaft wurde sie mit vielen weiteren unser Freund:innen unsterblich. Das Gedenken findet am Donnerstag, den 14.12. um 18 Uhr im Café Rabe in Bockenheim statt. In order to not remain there and continue to suffer she looked for another solution and found her salvation in joining the YPJ (Women's Defence Units). Imagine a very dark room full of pain, but somewhere there is a small beam of light. In these circumstances some people become afraid and won’t approach the light. Some go perseveringly toward the light and manage to be saved. In just this way Berivan walked towards that beam of light with perseverance and ardour through a world full of darkness and was saved from that darkness. She succeeded in becoming a freedom fighter in the YPJ. We are grateful to the people who became a ring of defence around Kobani with their hard work and heroic resistance.They united with the freedom fighters and brought down the dark reactionary mentality of ISIS, which, with the support of international and local forces, especially the occupying Turkish state, through unspeakable atrocities, massacres and genocide, wanted to destroy the hopes, dreams and beauty of human life. The victory was achieved as a result of the 134-day resistance led by our YPJ (Women's Defence Units) and YPG (People's Defence Units) in Kobanê against ISIS nine years ago, which no one dared to fight, like the reality of people who do not accept injustice, oppression, subjugation, slavery and captivity and want to be free. This resistance entered the pages of history. Humanity, which witnessed the resistance of the YPG and YPJ, stood alongside the freedom and honour fighters against the reactionary mentality of ISIS. The 16-year-old Kurdish woman Armita Garawand is dead. A month ago, she was seriously injured in a metro - according to human rights activists, by moral guards because she was not wearing a headscarf. "On March 6, 2018, Turkish troops and their jihadi allies began their advance towards Afrin. Beginning March 10, Turkish forces bombarded the homes of civilians, who at that point were resisting leaving the besieged town. The mainly Kurdish YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defence Units) did not prevent civilians from leaving the town. The bloodiest day of the invasion was March 16, when indiscriminate bombardment took the lives of at least 47 civilians, including the wounded in the Afrin hospital. The YPG and YPJ speedily withdrew from the city on March 18...to enable the safe retreat of civilians. The decision to withdraw from the city 'probably did prevent an even worse bloodbath, while allowing the refugees to flee'. The relatively stable border between the YPG/J and the Turkish army and its jihadist allies reemerged in April. The entire Kurdish region of Afrin, with some exceptions in the east of the city, is under the Turkish occupation. In these occupied areas, plundering and violence, including forced conversions of civilians, is taking place, although exact figures are impossible to ascertain. The United Nations estimates that up to 70,000 civilians remain in Afrin, which is occupied by Islamist militias that enforce strict dress codes, while saluting the Turkish flag and decorating the schools in the region with pictures of Erdogan. The Turkish regime invaded Afrin for three principal reasons: destruction of the project of democratic autonomy, ethnic cleansing of the Kurdish population, and the EU-sponsored relocation of refugees from Syria. This plan is premised on the conscious and calculated intention of mobilizing future ethnic conflicts. "The silence and unease palpable in comments about the Kurdish struggle have more to do with the nature of the Kurdish revolutionary project: a form of political and intellectual organization that stands in stark opposition to liberal certainties, orientalist prejudices and leftist revolutionary designs... We could describe this as a confrontation between two versions of modernity. The #KurdishFreedomMovement speaks of a 'democratic modernity' that opposes 'capitalist modernity'. Democratic modernity is an integral organization of democratic nation, democratic communalism and ecology. The cornerstone of this organization is the vision of a multiethnic nation detached from a dominant ethnicity. The defining element of democratic modernity, conceived of as an entirely different civilization, not just an alternative to capitalist accumulation and the law of value, is one that requires a completely new definition of the concept of nation: as an organization of life detached from the state, a democratic nation as the 'right of society to construct itself'. It is a consociation based on free agreement and plural identity. As a democratic organization of collective life, it is not based on homeland and market, but on freedom and solidarity... Political theorists speak eloquently of post-fascism and neofascism, and everyone is understandably shocked by the gruesome violence of the Islamic State, but few mention the antifascist struggle waged by the Syrian Kurds and the international brigades of European volunteers. Leftist activists bemoan the political status quo and the absence of alternatives to the rising right-wing populism, yet in Kurdish Syria a genuinely revolutionary society is being built and improvised from below, and developed and sustained in the incredibly challenging circumstances of war... Diese Menschen haben auch Familie, Kinder, Freunde, ein Dach über den Kopf und ein Leben, genau wie du und ich. Was diese Menschen von uns unterscheiden ist nichts außer die geographische Lage. Sie sind genau wie alle anderen weil (Mensch ist Mensch) so schön wie ihr das immer sagt. Das ist aber hier nicht die Realität. Es werden einfach Menschen anders behandelt aufgrund kultureller und sozialer Herkunft. Ein Volk das seit mehreren Jahrhunderten nie seinen Frieden finden konnte, nennt man Kurden. Wie laut muss ein Volk noch leiden und schreien, damit andere diese endlich hören und hin schauen um das was ein Mörder macht zu stoppen, wie viele sollen noch sterben, damit das endlich ein Ende hat? Hevrin Khalaf (kurdisch Hevrîn Xelef; * 15. November 1984 in Rojava; † 12. Oktober 2019 war eine kurdische Politikerin und Bauingenieurin in Syrien. 2018 war Khalaf Gründerin und Mitglied der Future Syria Party (FSP) (kurdisch: Partiya Sûriya Pêşerojê (PSP)), die mit den Zielen antrat, die Interessen aller sozialen Gruppen zu vertreten und für einen demokratischen Neuanfang in Syrien zu sorgen. Sie wurde zur Generalsekretärin gewählt. In ihrer politischen Arbeit legte Khalaf Wert auf die Gleichbehandlung aller sozialen Gruppen in Syrien und betonte, wie wichtig der Dialog aller politischen syrischen Kräfte sei. Sie setzte sich außerdem für Frauenrechte ein und nahm im September 2019 an der ersten Konferenz arabischer Stammesfrauen teil. Im Zuge der türkischen Militäroffensive in Nordsyrien 2019 wurde Khalaf am 12. Oktober 2019 auf der Autobahn M4 von türkeitreuen Milizen der Gruppe Ahrar al-Sharqiya hingerichtet,als sie mit einem Fahrer zu einer politischen Versammlung nördlich von ar-Raqqa unterwegs war und in einen Hinterhalt der Syrischen Nationalen Armee (SNA) geriet.Auch der Fahrer und sieben weitere Zivilisten wurden bei diesem Überfall ermordet. Laut der französischen Zeitung Le Monde starb Hevrin Khalaf an den Folgen von schweren Misshandlungen. Heute vor genau einem Jahr starb die Kurdin Jina Ahmini im Iran durch die Sittenpolizei des Regimes. Sie war verhaftet worden weil sie Angehörige einer Minderheit war und es zudem als Frau gewagt hatte die patriarchalen Regeln des Regimes zu missachten. Ihr Tod löste die Größten und längsten Unruhen im Iran seid der Revolution vor über 40 Jahren aus. Landesweit gingen Menschen auf die Straße und auch International gab es viel Solidarität. Zwar ist das Regime noch an der Macht, doch die ganze Welt hat das wahre Gesicht des iranischen Regimes gesehen und auch innerhalb der Bevölkerung hat es deutlich an Rückhalt verloren. Der Kampf für einen freien Iran, ein freies Kurdistan und letztlich für die gesamte Befreiung der Menschheit von patriarchalen Machtstrukturen geht auch ein Jahr nach Jinas Tod weiter. Sowohl im Iran, als auch jenseits davon. Das Opfer all jener die das Regime getötet hat und jener die für ihre Solidarität verfolgt wurden oder noch werden ist nicht umsonst gewesen. Sie haben viele Möglichkeiten für uns eröffnet und leuchten uns als Sterne weiterhin den Weg zu einer besseren Zukunft. Durch unsere Taten werden sie für immer unsterblich sein. Dieses Jahr gedenken wir zum 8. Mal an das Massaker in Suruç, an die Revolutionären voller Träume, an ihren Willen zur Errichtung einer Brücke von der Türkei bis nach Kurdistan. Dazu werden wir am Mittwoch den 19.07. gemeinsam den Dokumentarfilm “Gitmek” (dt. Aufbruch) schauen. In diesem Film werden die Gefallenen der Reise bis nach Kobanê vorgestellt, wir bekommen Einblicke in ihr Leben und ihre Träume. Juli sind wir als revolutionäre Gruppen und Organisationen auf der Straße, um der Gefallenen von Surug zu gedenken und erneut Gerechtigkeit zu fordern, auch nach 8 Jahren! Vor 8 Jahren, am 20. Juli 2015, wurden 33 junge Revolutionär:innen, die auf dem Weg nach Kobanê in Rojava waren, um die Stadt nach dem heldenhaften Widerstand und dem Sieg über den IS wieder aufzubauen, von einem IS-Selbstmordattentater ermordet. Die internationalistischen Ideale von ihnen, die diesen Weg gemacht haben, sind immer noch unser Wegweiser. Der Internationalismus, den sie zum Leben erweckt haben, soll uns auch in Deutschland leiten. Kongra Star: Der türkische Staat fürchtet freie Frauen Der Frauenverband Kongra Star erklärt, dass der türkische Drohnenterror in Nordsyrien auf die Philosophie freier Frauen abzielt. Yusra Derwêş und Liman Şiwêş haben sich jahrelang für die Eigenständigkeit von Frauen eingesetzt. Der Frauenverband Kongra Star hat eine Erklärung zu dem türkischen Drohnenangriff im nordsyrischen Distrikt Tirbespiyê abgegeben. Bei dem Angriff sind die Ko-Vorsitzende der Selbstverwaltung im Kanton Qamişlo, Yusra Derwêş, ihre Stellvertreterin Liman Şiwêş und der Fahrer Firat Tûma getötet. Weinend weil, wir wütend und traurig darüber sind das er heute nicht mehr unter uns ist. Lachend, weil wir an Özgür, an all seine positiven Eigenschaften denken, an all das was wir bis heute zu seinem ersten Geburtstag ohne ihn von ihm lernen konnten.
