Rachel 👰🏻‍♀️🤍 15-9-23 A fun and emotional morning for this bridal prep at @mosborough_hall another favorite getting ready room unless it's a hot summers day 🥵😂 Rachel and her bridal party were a great energy and we had such a laugh creating a tiktok for them! The morning ran so smoothly! So much so that I had extra time at the end meaning I could fit sister Sarah in for her makeup! Another choice for a more pink style bridal makeup! The colours really suited Rachel and tied in lovely with her flowers. I loved bridesmaid Jess' hair, styled by @kimbowhitt87 the pearls looked so good and refreshingly different for a wedding! I loved doing Rachel's mum Viv's makeup, she doesn't normally wear it so I made sure it didn't look too different to her usual reflection or feel too much on her skin, she even trusted me enough to let me out some false lashes on her!! Alice 👰🏼‍♀️🤍 14.09.23 Back at one of my favourite venues @thewestmill. Any venue with a decent bridal prep space goes on my faves list! This day was slightly different though as we couldn't get in the room until 11am meaning the prep started at a hotel nearby at 6am. Alice and her girls were great! Everything went to plan and everyone was ready on time. A mixture of makeup looks from natural looking to glam depending on each person's preferred style. Alice went for shimmery pink tones on the eyes, medium coverage skin and a matte pink lip. She looked amazing! Hannah 28.8.23 👰🏼‍♀️🤍 Almost 8 months since this beauty's bank holiday Monday wedding last summer! A hot day over in Ashbourne getting ready at @hallfarmholidays before Hannah and her bridal party set off to @grangefieldsvenue for the wedding! Hannah had 2 trials prior to her wedding as she wanted to tweak her makeup slightly to be more 'her' as you can see from the pictures, it was all about keeping it natural looking, light coverage, soft pink tones with definion around the eyes and a lovely natural pink lip! If I had a £1 for everytime I've had to explain this! I fully appreciate that it only takes me or you 10 minutes to apply makeup in the morning and to some people that might look great HOWEVER I can absolutely guarantee that that style of makeup would not last a wedding day! It certainly wouldn't look good enough for photos. Professional makeup is about understanding the skin first of all, what skin type a client is determines the products I need to use in the prep for the makeup to either not go shiny or to not crack. The application is crucial, focussing on each product, applying it to the skin then either blending, buffing or setting it in place, layering a variation of products from cream to powder and knowing what works together. Working with the face shape, eye shape, brow shape, cheek bones, the overall structure to enhance each area so that the client still looks like themselves but the best version and more polished. Having the knowledge to understand age appropriate makeup. What looks great on a teenager may not on someone in their 60's and vice versa. If you have brows that aren't shaped, fine lines/wrinkles, open pores, pigmentation, dark circles, spots, acne scarring, straight, short lashes then all of these will need attention which takes time. As a professional makeup artist with 18 years experience it takes me between 40 and 75 minutes per person. Even if you want the most natural looking makeup I will still use at least 16 different products on your face but the way in which I apply it will give you the look you're wanting and it won't feel or look heavy/cakey PLUS it will stay in place for hours (some wake up the next day with it 🤭😅) If you're booked in for makeup with me but worried about having it done for any reason please just get in touch! A closer look at the makeup 💫 Save this post for inspo!! As I mentioned in my previous post, Natasha asked for a few changes to be made from her trial. Originally the eyeliner was black, the eyes weren't as sparkly and the base was a lighter coverage. I tell all of my brides that it's not a problem if you want to make any changes. A trial is for us to meet and me to learn everything about you and your wedding. Sometimes it's thought that a makeup artist is always going to nail it first time, if that was the case, a trial wouldn't be needed but there's so much to factor in, skin type and how the makeup lasts, how the bride feels, the lashes, the coverage, the finish, lip colour and so on. Some brides come with a look in mind and some come with no idea. All of that is absolutely fine. Natasha sent me inspo pics and one was from @johnnytmakeup who does really good tutorials so I bought one of the eyeshadows he used, tried a new technique and honestly, I was SO happy with Natasha's final bridal look on the day. It was perfect for her and really complimented her style that she had put together. As a makeup artist, you never stop learning and perfecting your skills. One thing I want to add is that Natasha is a skincare queen!! She really looks after her skin with a routine am and pm, pamper nights and focussed on getting her skin wedding ready. Anita 12.08.23 👰🏻‍♀️🤍 When I was told before meeting her that Anita was a special kind of person it wasn't a lie! The loveliest bride to be makeup artist for! So much so we ran way over time at the trial just from chatting away! Bridal party 💞 Aimee's bridesmaids Hannah, Sophie & Lucy plus her mum Karen. I loved creating all of these looks! How stunning they all are! Aimee's mum suffers with really watery eyes, usually I advise taking an antihistamine but unfortunately that didn't work this time and they watered so much I ended up having to remove the eyeshadow from her eyelids to try and prevent it smudging. She still looked lovely, her face makeup, hair and outfit made up for it! Sometimes some things are totally out of our control and we have to do what we can using the experience we have to overcome them. Evie 04.08.23 👰🏼‍♀️🤍 Such lovely memories from this wedding morning!! What an amazing group of ladies! Evie got married at Peak Edge Hotel at 12pm and there were 7 ladies in total for makeup meaning my arrival time was 5am! They all made me feel so welcome and like part of the gang! I've known Evie for years now and her cousin Laura is a good friend/client who also smashed it as bridesmaid and everyone's hair stylist. If you're in the industry you know how hard it can be to work at a wedding you're a part of but team work makes the dream work and we certainly did that!! Everyone had a different style of makeup and generally let me loose on their faces. I find asking lots of questions to get to know someone really helps me create the perfect bespoke look for them. At Evie's trial she didn't really know what she wanted so left it to me, she has an amazing eye shape which I used as the main focus and worked on keeping her skin radiant but not shiny as she's prone to oil. I arrived at @peakedgehotelweddings for 5am which was an early start for these ladies but they were all so lovely and accommodating all morning! We were organised and ready ahead of schedule meaning time for photos and dress reveals! I loved being a part of this wedding! If your wedding is between now and the end of August then I recommend securing a date to come and have your trial with me. Trials are Thursday and Friday daytime at my home makeup studio in Ecclesall S11. If anyone in your bridal party is wanting a trial they are welcome to book in too. I encourage this if anyone is nervous about having their makeup done professionally or feels they have sensitive skin or allergies just to put their mind at ease and be sure that the wedding morning is an enjoyable as possible for everyone! If you are a teacher then please get in touch ASAP as there are only a handful of school holiday dates left. A few tips for your trial: Arrive with no makeup on. Have an idea of the style of makeup you like. Save screenshots for inspiration. Start prepping your skin at least a month before, if you need help with this message me. Wear a top that is similar colour/neck line to your dress. Book your hair trial or dress fitting for the same day. Plan something for after! Don't go home and sit on your sofa feeling fabulous 🤣 A trial is a chance for us to meet, for me to get an idea of what you like and don't and create a bespoke look that you will feel happy and confident with 🥰 Tag a bride that you know is booked in with me this year!
