At the information session, Father Kyprianos and one of the Iconographers who will be working on this project, will outline the plans for the new iconography that will be undertaken at St Andrew’s Church. It is an exciting project which St Andrew’s Church will be embarking on later this year and will see the completion of the iconography works that were originally commenced several years earlier. This is an opportunity for all interested members of the church to hear what is being planned and to contribute their views about which saints will grace the walls of our lovely parish church. What a fantastic day we had yesterday at our Parish Family Catch Up and Fundraiser event! It was a beautiful opportunity to connect with fellow parishioners while coming together to support our beloved Parish. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised an amazing $4,312.50! These funds will go towards a variety of maintenance projects across our Parish, such as the necessary storm water drainage works. Your contributions make a difference, and we’re grateful for your support. Φilotimo Festival Family Day 2024 It was an amazing day at @panagia_kamariani_redhill yesterday attending the Φilotimo Festival Family Day, which was day three of the Φilotimo Festival. After the church service, there was so much to do, from market stalls, rides, animal farm and camel rides, food, loukoumades, φραπέδες to eat and drink, Greek dancing performances from @pancretansofmelbourne, @aristotelisdance and the Hellenic School of Dance, Culture, Music and Arts to watch, music to listen to and more Greek dancing! Our Sunday School students marched under our Parish Sunday School banner before receiving a blessing and a special gift from @archbishop_makarios. It was wonderful to see so many families from our Parish and Greek School attending, with familiar voices from Father Kyprianou and Theologian Pouris as the hosts for the day. We would like to acknowledge the bestowal of the Honorary Diploma of the Order of “The Christ - Loving”, which is the highest honour award of our Holy Archdiocese, upon Mr Harry Papos, Mrs Fani Vougioukas and Mrs Helen Lambris. His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia presented the awards during the dinner held in his honor on Sunday night. All recipients were nominated by our Parish Priest Fr. Kyprianos for their many years of dedicated and loyal service to our Parish, and for Mrs Lambris, also her dedication to the St Andrew’s Playgroup (@standrewsgreekplaygroup) and St Andrew’s Greek Language School (@standrewsgreekschool) as School Principal and now as Campus Principal of the Aetolian College at Andrews Campuses Forest Hill and Vermont (@standrewscampus_aetoliancol). Today is the feast day of St Andrew the Apostle. May St Andrew intercede to God for all of us. Χρόνια Πολλά! • Saint Andrew was from Bethsaida of Galilee; he was the son of Jonas and the brother of Peter, the chief of the Apostles. He had first been a disciple of John the Baptist; afterwards, on hearing the Baptist's witness concerning Jesus, when he pointed Him out with his finger and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, Which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1.29,36), he straightway followed Christ, and became His first disciple; wherefore he is called the First-called of the Apostles. After the Ascension of the Saviour, he preached in various lands; and having suffered many things for His Name's sake, he died in Patras of Achaia, where he was crucified on a cross in the shape of an "X," the first letter of "Christ" in Greek; this cross is also the symbol of Saint Andrew. #standrewsfh #standrewsforesthill #orthodoxfaith #standrewtheapostle
