Enjoyed going back to 1987 as The Majestics attempted to go back still further to revitalise a somewhat stagnant career in this TV drama/noir comedy written by John Byrne. It starts off quite quietly & served (for us) as brief respite from the more hard-hitting crime drama Cracker, which Robbie Coltrane starred in some years later. Indeed, we had been making our way through Cracker (got over three quarters of way through the lot of em) & decided "Can't take no more gruesome!" for a while. So we turned to Tutti Fruitti.. Well that worked out well then. Don't remember it being quite so challenging (what with the futility of everything) the first time around. Though I was a young strip of a thing back then I was.. Tutti Frutti is a six-part drama series about a fictional Glasgow band, The Majestics, doing their final tour of Scotland. Starring Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson, Richard Wilson, Maurice Roëves, Jake D'Arcy, Ron Donachie, Stuart McGugan and Katy Murphy, the series aired on BBC One in 1987.
