PART 4... Had a go at coving, probably easier when the room is actually square, used way to much filler on the joins 🙈 but pretty happy with the result. Ceiling painted with Dulux Jasmine White, walls painted with @coatpaints Duvet Day. Then a few more of the furnishings before the carpet goes in such as the lamp, curtain rail, switches and sockets, blinds, radiator pipe seal and brackets.

PART 3... (Yes we realise it's been over a year since the last update, literally got a huge amount of updates to post). Next step was to insulate between the floor joists. We used 50mm PIR boards cut to size to give a tight as fit as possible, and any small gaps filled with expanding foam. Then all the joints were sealed with foil tape to form a vapour barrier, before laying the new moisture resistant 22mm chipboard flooring. Glued with D4 floor adhesive and screwed with Spax flooring screws. Up to damp course! The blockwork and sleeper walls have been formed, the boys are really smashing through the blockwork. Most of the details for the blockwork superstructure are in the build-up (below floor level and damp course) so it's great to be up to floor height knowing that once the floor is in we can build straight up to the finished roof height. Living room project update: We have a floor! Been a while since the last update... New concrete bearers set in with help from bro (@p_and_g_arch @crouch_bungalow), all perfectly level. New timber joists positioned. Airtight Solitex membrane hung, sealed and stapled over the joists with enough space below for ventilation. 100mm of Hemp Flax Combi Jute natural insulation between joists (smells wonderful!). Pro Clima vapour control layer then sealed and stapled over the top. Finally fitted the Egger Protect 22mm boards ready for carpeting (or other flooring). Oh, also rebuilt the fireplace front. If this room is not warmer and draught free over Winter I shall be disappointed. Finally got the downstairs shower out and it’s confirmed the worst. Yes the drain was put in so poorly it was leaking after every shower. The worst bit though, as we suspected, a concrete floor lies under the tiles. It’s lined with plastic so every bit of moisture is wicking up the walls. It’s going to have to be smashed up and a new suspended floor will be put in. It’s not too complicated a job. It’ll take a bit of time but it’s just a downstairs loo.
