Visit of Director General, CCRUM to Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) Today on 3rd May 2024 Dr N Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM visited Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) office at New Delhi and met Director, TKDL Dr. Viswajanani sattigeri. The TKDL is a prior art database of Indian traditional knowledge established in 2001, jointly by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Ministry of AYUSH. During his visit, DG, CCRUM spared time with TKDL team and assessed the functioning of TKDL and also appreciated the aims, objectives and outcomes of TKDL i.e. prevention of misappropriation of Indian traditional knowledge (TK) by way of intellectual property rights. The TKDL currently contains information from ancient texts related to ISM such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Yoga. It is a big achievement for Ayush fraternity that a total around 4.5 Lakh ISM formulations including around 2.5 Lakh Unani formulations have been transcribed so far into the TKDL database. On the basis of TKDL evidences, around 324 patent applications have been either refused, amended or withdrawn/abandoned from different international Patent Offices. #DG #CCRUM #visit #TKDL #unani #Ayush
