Frontiers come in and out of existence; from the Orient to the African continent to Polynesian islands. While Alaska is known as the final frontier, it seems that Hawaii may have been the final cultural frontier. If you drive around the Cold War Era residential developments around Southern California, you may spot plumeria plants as a living archeological artifact of a time when Polynesian cultures were the frontier.
