🔵 March 2024: Just a few days after I filled up the system with fresh coolant the waterpump started leaking pretty bad. Needed to be replaced right away, also the timing belt had to come out again. 🔴 March 2024: Noticed a loud scraping noise coming from the engine bay, which got me a bit worried. Luckily after I took out the serpentine belt the scraping noise was gone and I found out something was wrong with the alternator. So I took the alternator to a professional to get it refurbished. 🔵 March 2024: Got the mk2 back on the road. Flushed the cooling system, replaced the upper radiator hose and reconnected the heather radiator to get the heater working again. 🔵 January 2024: Took the dash out to replace the heather radiator. The air conduction housing was a real mess, so I opened it up and give it a good clean. Also replaced the isolation material on the heather valves with some aluminum tape. 🔵 November 2023: The mk2 Golf is running again. Took the starter out to test it, recharged/tested the battery and check the resistance in the battery/starter cables. But it just was a bad ground, rusty bracket on the gearbox for the ground cable. I did also check my engine block repair and covered it with some black paint. 🔵 August 2023: Stranded down again with the mk2 Golf 😅. Looked like it was a problem with the ignition. Checked the cables and replaced the ignition switch, but it didn’t fix the problem. So needed to get the car towed back home. Did some more testing back home, cleaned the engine and chassis grounds. Got the car started once with the key. 🔵 July 2023: A week after the car passed inspection it stranded down with a broken fuel line. When I was replacing the fuel line I noticed that the fuelpump bracket was completely loose. I was able to secure the fuelpump bracket with one bolt so I could drive it home carefully , but the fuelpump had to come out again. So one of the bolts broke and two bolt came loose. After I got the broke bolt out I put in the new bolts with some Loctite. I think I got lucky it was only the fuel line that broke and not the timing belt. Sadly it still got a big oilleak coming from a small hole in the engineblock, I tried something and it looks like the oilleak is fixed for now.
