Made it home from @texas_eclipse festival. My hot take: First time festivals will always have kinks to work out. Established festivals have had years to correct things. We all heard the rumors of how Oregon Eclipse went. Attendees had amazing times, while most of the production team trauma bonded and made things work with constant limitations. Our expectations were set fairly low when it came to logistics, and I would say those expectations were met. On the other hand, the spaces created within the festival were incredible. I loved the stage designs, and the sound was amazing at any stage I went to. I rarely attend some of the movement or workshops that festivals offer, but this one has things that I’ve never seen scheduled before. There was a ton of art scattered about, and a very high level of performers of all kinds. I loved the unique focus on space. I attended a talk on the history if mathematics and astrology with @katybooberry 🌝 I went to a yoga class with @suzannesterlinglive that included dance and singing 🧘♀️ Attended a talk with the incredible @paulstamets 🍄 Watched Shamskara in the @android_jones VR dome 🌍 Participated in 4 days worth of fun with @thoseinstigators 🐊 Discovered new music @equanimouslove Remembered my love for @davidstarfire and @desert_dwellers_music Saw @barclaycrenshaw play his biggest set yet and then b2b with @hi_mija on an art car When many festivals feel like repeats, this one offered something unique. We anticipated some of the hardships and came prepared. We were almost packed up by the time the festival announced cancellations because we saw the weather report and didn’t want to be stuck in that.
