As a club, we have and will continue to celebrate the amazing girls and women that make our AAFC community complete. We have celebrated them as Footballers. As inspirations. As a part of female football week for 2024 we are celebrating our women and girls at the Swifts. These women, girls and gender-diverse people embody our value at the Swifts, where our vision is that everyone is healthy, active and empowered through football. The theme this year is #WeRise, which is about elevating womenโs football and highlighting the sense of community both on and off the field. Jenni Brown is the junior coaching coordinator and has been at the Swifts since 2014. She played for the Seniors, started the juniors program in 2015 and has watched it grow to 12 teams in 2024. She now has a daughter playing in the U9s and provides support to all our Junior and MiniRoo coaches. We asked Jenni what she likes about the Swifts and she said โThis is my 10th season with the Swifts and I have found it to be the friendliest and most welcoming club that I have ever been involved with.ย To be at a club that plays competitively, but is still inclusive of all abilities, is truly unique and something that we are proud of. Watching Johnson Reserve come alive with girls and women, playing, coaching, managing teams, running the committee and everything in between, never fails to put a smile on my face โ itโs a very special club that Iโm proud to be a part of.โ

Thank you God for one more opportunity to do what I love, and for the health and strength to compete.. Double bronze (lightweight and open class) at the San Josรฉ Open this weekend. Still learning and improving. Without any sad stories, I'm going to keep training hard for the next one! Thank you so much to my professor @betovilanova and all my teammates for the daily training. A special thanks to @romeodimaano and the dedicated staff of @theactivespine for helping me be ready for this competition. I injured my right foot 2 days before the competition and was in pain even walking on it. I wasn't sure if I would be able to compete. I walked in to the office on Friday and they gave me a soundwave treatment (it breaks up scar tissue). Not only was I able to walk without pain afterward, but I was able to make weight and compete virtually pain-free. You guys are amazing! Obs: our weight class was not a 3-person bracket. One girl chose to pick up her medal and leave. Since I don't know the reason, I won't speculate about it here. Hopefully she is okay. This highlights the growing sense of community in women's football, both on and off the field. 2024 NFL Schedule to be released next Wednesday May 15th at 5pm Arizona. We are planning trips to Buffalo, Germany, Green Bay, & Miami. This is pending games falling on Christmas or Thanksgiving (weekend). All packages are customizable in terms of number of days and with or without game tickets.(some fans prefer to purchase their own seats). As you have seen in past trips all hotels are 4 star or better (except Green Bay 4 star doesn't exist) Game tickets are all Lower bowl and as close as possible sometimes even front row! It will take us a couple of days to get packages up so we encourage if you must book something out of excitement (can't blame you) you are welcome to book flights as those are not included in the package. Events generally will be Friday night, Saturday night and then the game Sunday. If Monday night game events will be Saturday night, Sunday night, Monday game If a Thursday game we will provide details. A volunteer at the club spanning more than 50 years, Margaret epitomises community spirit. The Austin Youth Climate Equity Council joined the @austin_food_forest for @austinparksfdn #ItsMyParkDay, contributing to their local green space and giving back to the community. We mulched pathways, removed brush, and tended compost. The land was honored with a ceremony led by a @poder.austin land steward, and a delicious lunch featuring fresh garden produce fueled the members for the afternoon. Council members met with their mentors from @dawaheals, @poder.austin, Pecan Street Inc, and the Village Place to brainstorm plans for getting the community involved in sustainability initiatives. Roles like this require Andrea to put in a lot of time and effort behind the scenes which is not usually seen and is paramount for the standard running and operations for any team. Above all this, Andrea has a wealth of experience and knowledge, and brings a positive vibe to the team by keeping morale high and boosting it when required. Female Football Week - Celebrating our women in Football #WeRise Junior Coach Profile - Anastasia Koukouvas Anastasia is another pure example of what Hellenic Athletic Club is all about. โStasiaโ came through Hellenicโs youth system, where she transitioned into the WPLR team. From there, she worked extremely hard and dedicated herself to ensure she cracked into the WPL team, earning her spot after overcoming many obstacles. 2024 marks her third year as a player for WPL and has gained a wealth of experience under the experienced Head Coach Matic Hajdic. This year, she has now giving back to the club by taking on our u9โs all girls Angelโs team. The energy and enthusiasm Stasia brings to every session is priceless, and any player would be lucky to have her as a coach. Hellenic is so privileged to have you on our team and we are hoping that you keep striving as you continue to be a part of our club. She is hands on and the first to help in any way she can. She is the quickest problem solver you know, has the biggest heart and is always up for a chat. With ages ranging from 11-14, experienced to brand new to football this season, one thing that they all have in common is their โNever give up attitudeโ, which has given them the edge over other teams this season. On Sunday they played out at Salisbury against their Blue team where they won 13-0, and had 7 goal scorers. It was an impressive whole team effort. Their next 2 games are at home and will test the team, this week itโs Metro (the top of our ladder), next weekend is their 4th cup round against Adelaide Comets. FFW - Celebrating Women & Girls in Football Canteen & Ground Staff - Ellie & Sienna Today we are celebrating Ellie and Sienna who work for BDFC as canteen and ground staff. These young women both grew up around our club as players and now work most weekends during the winter season and summer comps. While the 6am starts are tough, they come in with the right attitude to get the job done and serve our community to ensure that fields are set up and people can enjoy their traditional football meals. As a club, we take pride in providing young people their first experience of employment where they get opportunities to learn different and transferrable skills in future jobs. These two represent the type of people we love working for us with their commitment and energy to learn, provide good service and assist our new staff members with their training. Next up weโd like to introduce Susie and Rachel. Susie is our womenโs captain and life member of USC. Even when injured we could always count on her being at every training and game to show her support and leadership. We welcomed her back onto the field this last weekend. Rachel came to us last season to begin training with our womenโs team. We had the privilege of having Rachel play this season. Youโll often see her rocking the two different boots out on the pitch. Rachel also trains and plays with the Australian Paramatildas team which is an amazing achievement and we are so lucky to have her at USC. #werise

Next up in our #FemaleFootballWeek player profile series are Tracey and Lamees! After more than a decade of watching her children and other family members play, Tracey decided it was time to pull on the boots herself this season. Those years on the sidelines were clearly put to some good use, as she has slotted into the Blues' centre of defence as if she has been doing it for years. Lamees is a great example of the benefits of the alternative participation opportunities our club has to offer. GO Soccer Mums is designed specifically for women and is all about having fun, meeting new people, and learning basic football skills in a social, judgement-free environment.
